Has anyone done it? Not for surgery, but just for weight loss. This woman (ImpatientDieter) lost 100 pounds fast. I mean really, really fast. And, I know, don't starve, all that jazz, but it's so tempting to look at. 78 says later, 100 pounds lighter?

I was just wondering people's opinions on this kind of weight loss.

No way does anyone lose 100 pounds in 78 days; that's false advertising.

Also, however much you do lose, you'll gain right back as soon as you start eating real food.  Plus, as you noted, it's super unhealthy, so your hair and skin would get horrible and you'd have no energy.

I guess you're right. I don't think it's false advertising, cause she's not selling anything, lol. She doesn't even say how she does it, she does...video tapes it. XD

I don't know, it's just tempting when you watch someone do it and they look fine. But you're right, there has to be a catch.

Her sales pitch is well disguised.  She seems to be a shill for marcallen.com, which she mentions over and over.  If she's on a liquid diet, it has to be bought from somewhere, and whoever is selling it is making big bucks.

To lose over a pound a day would require 'using/burning' over a pound a day... non-stop!... for 78 days...???

Physically impossible unless you were VERY heavy which creates a HIGH daily burn rate-- 200 lbs at 5'2" wouldn't Achieve 2000 cals a day, much less 3500 cals, besides the calories consumed in the liquid diet-- you would need to burn 3500 cals PLUS the liquids... every day!

As you lost weight-- esp. if you reached your goal weight-- you COULDN'T burn enough each day, as your body wouldn't use many calories any more...

The ONLY other way to burn so many calories a day would be through EXTREME exercise-- along with the diet. Far too much exercise for you to possibly be able to do! Over 3500 calories a day is insane... Surprised

If you want to know the 'most' you can physically burn in a safe, and Healthy way, try this calculator... If you do it twice, adding the BMI they guess for you the second time, you'll find a lot of interesting info that is factual instead of Fantasy...! Wink

That sounds terribly boring.... To not be able to chew something such as a crunchy granola bar for weeks would make me cry like a little French school girl.

PS: Oprah did this diet and effed with her body, she ended up gaining everything back and then some.

Well, you all debunked that pretty quickly. :0

I wasn't planning on doing this (I like solid food way too much), I was just wondering what people thought about it. Thank you all for your opions and facts. :)

I have a friend who tried all liquids.  She gained weight.  (Too much fruit juice.)

Well, that was counterproductive. XD

Calorie Count does not support such unhealthy diet as an all liquid diet (unless under strict medical supervision). We also do not support a weight loss rate greater than 1% (or 2% max) per week.

That really interesting, thank you. Sorry if it seemed like I was promoting. x_x

No worries! I just don't want you to get caught up in a long-term unsuccessful and mostly spammy diet!!

No worries about that there! :)

After reading that page you posted (not to mention the countless warnings about weight gain after), I'm just waiting to see an update of it all going down hill. ^^

Please, before you even consider such a drastic weight loss plan, ask yourself if you think your skin will be able to shrink enough (that fast).  78-lbs in 100-days is going to leave you with too much excess skin.

THEN...think about sacrificing your good health.  At some point you will have to start eating again.  Don't you feel it would be wiser to take the time to lose the weight in a healthy manner while you are learning how to be your healthiest?  I do.

:)

I wasn't saying I was going to do it. I was just asking about it. *w*

Read my above posts, you silly goose. <3

It has been shown that the slower the weight is lost, the more likely the person is to maintain the weight loss.

Your body has a set-point that it maintains weight around, and in order to truly lose weight for the long term, you must reset this set point.  If you lose at a terrifically fast rate (100 lbs in 78 days, although I doubt this is even physically possible), your set point will not actually change, and your body will fight to regain the weight and get back to where you were before.

To change your set point, you have to "trick"your body into resetting it, by losing at a very slow rate of 1-1.5 lbs (on average) per week.  (Obviously, for some, this may not work out perfectly; you may lose nothing for two weeks, and then 5 lbs in one week, but it's the average you're looking at over time.)  Once you have lost 10% of your body weight, you should maintain that for a period of time (say 6 months), and then continue on to lose another 10%, and so on.

While this method may sound painfully slow, it is the best way to ensure you do not regain the weight you have lost.

(Info taken from "Break Through Your Set Point," by Dr. George Blackburn, M.D., Ph.D.--he's done research at Harvard on this for many years.)

That's really interesting. I've heard of a set point, but hearing it explained like that is pretty neat. So, when people are saying that, once you've lst weight, it's all waiting to come back, is that because of a wonky set point?

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens to her. :/
