What do you listen to when you workout?

I like a whole range of music from 70s rock to new country. Just a strong beat and hopefully a positive message. Something to lift you up and keep you movin. Kinda like "Keep on Rollin" by REO when I'm riding my bike up hill into the wind actually helps. Weird huh? Well what music is it that keeps you guys---MOTIVATED?

On my ipod...Good rowdy music that motivates me.

-Steely Dan  Bodhisattva, Reelin in the Years, Black Friday

-Pink Floyd-Run Like Hell

-Supertramp  Cannonball

-Tom Petty--Runnin down a dream

-YES--Roundabout

-Metallica -Enter Sandman

-Jethro Tull--Locomotive Breath (After the slow start a great walking pace)

-Beatles -Helter Skelter

-Hendrix -Stepping Stone Live

I have many more and keep trying new ones. Itunes offers free exercise pod downloads of techo music designed for running and walking. Nice for an occasional change. Check it out.

On my iPod (this weeks 'to go' list)

Spiritual Spiral (Carmen Rizzo remix, from Cirque)

Staten Island Grooev (Down to teh Bone)

Despertar (Aisha Duo)

Velvet Sutra (Alcyone)

New English (Ambulance LTD)

Cold (Annie Lenox)

Beat Box Diversion 1 (Art of Noise)

Human Behaviour live (Bjork)

Camerata En Guaguanco (Camerata Romeu)

That's enough for 15 on the treadmill, 15 on  the bike trainer, and 15 on the elliptical (if I can make it that far!)

Great topic, daddon55!

I have 495 songs on my iPod workout playlist - from the 50's to the 00's - I like variety!  Pop, rock & hiphop.  At the top of the list for today's workout:

Run Through the Jungle (Creedance Clearwater Revival)

Dance To the Music (Sly and the Family Stone)

I Know What Boys Like (Pure Sugar)

Tossin' and Turnin' (Bobby Lewis)

Dyna-Mite (Mud)

Manic Monday (The Bangles)

Medicine Jar (Paul McCartney & Wings)

The Perfect Crime #2 (The Decemberists)

SexyBack (Justin Timberlake)

(Overall, the most likely for a 50's-Something woman:  Madonna.  The least likely:  Eminem)

My ipod has such tunes as Black Horse in the Cherry Tree, Carwash, Hit Me, Dance, just alot of good motivating music that I can''t help but feel like moving.  I have them arranged so that I have Come to Papa by Bob Segar as my warm up, then a slightly faster song then about 3 that have me at 4.1 to 4.5 MPH on the elliptical and then about 3 or 4 that slow me back down.  It works out to a 45 minute good workout and then I followup with 15 to 45 minutes on the treadmill unless I've worked in a walk during the afternoon.  I'm trying for 60 - 90 minutes per day.

I like to arrange my music the same way. Slowly building till the end when I'm pushing my self. " Keep on Rollin" by REO. "Fight the good fight " by Triumph(dating myself I know). But anything with a strong beat that goes on forever and thats the song I want to help push me through. Especially if it has a positive message.

Sorry I seem to be repeating myself repeating myself
