a little confused...

Quote  |  Reply

okay so i went to my doctor last week, and we talked about my eating disorder...anyways i don't see a nutrition or therapist until next week and am wondering if i should start the recovery process before i see one or should i wait? im just so confused with what to start doing, but i go off to college in less than a month and am afraid if i don't start soon i will be more likely to relapse right away since i will be living away from my parents and doctor...but i am so afraid to start eating again!

it's best to just start asap, your doctor will increase your food intake so it's best to get a jump start, your health can't wait.

start eating a minimum of 1500 for about 2 days, then 2000 for 2 days, and then 2500-3000 for the remainder of your gaining time...well at least until you meet with a nutritionist. i don't know your history so it's hard to say really, but i'd definitely start recovery sooner rather than later that way the mental aspect has some time to sink in!!

congrats on wanting to get healthy, you won't regret it!!

hey, i just saw ur pics and we have like the exact lw and gw. How tall r u? im 5'4". so anyway on to ur question. I also wondered the same thing when i was first diagnosed and had to gain. Im glad that ur willing to take initiative now because when i was in ur situation ed still greater overpowered me and i still restricted myself til i went to the nutritionist. So listen to chrissy, shes brilliant.

that's somewhat analogous to the person who wants to lose weight saying, "let's go out and have the biggest, greasiest, most unhealthy meal possible, because in 3 days i start my 'diet'!!"  (but the opposite, of course).  adopting healthier eating patterns/weight gain/recovery/health is a For The Rest Of Your Life Thing, so why wait?! you sound like you've got a good attitude and are more than ready to make some positive changes right now.  <3

oh thats awesome! im 5'4-5'5; closer to 5'5 though. That's crazy we had the same stats! if you don't mind me asking how did you up your intake?? did you go straight to a high calorie count or go up slowly? any advice would be appreciated!

well, as i was trying to recover i ended up going through another disorder - binge ad starvation. I would 4000 calories for like 3 days then the rest of the week i wouldnt go above 300. But now im trying to eat 2000 to 2200 a day. I had a way out of control binge yesterday (above 4600 cals). When i started to up my cals, i did it pretty fast. One day it was 1500 then the next it was 1800. I read alot that youre supposed to be at a caloric intake for at least a week for your body to get used to it. But i was just so excited to eat, i couldnt wait.
