A little confusion about "Eat Meter" and "Burn Meter"?
Ok, let me start off by saying that I'm a big girl. 5'9" at 15 years old, and I've been this tall for a while (since I was 13), and have been growing more width-wise during recent years. I am currently 218 pounds, and have just started this.
But! My question is about the "Eat Meter". If I'm reading it correctly, it's saying that I should be eating about 2,100 calories a day (well, it says that's my "daily goal"). Is that really nesciassary? I've been trying to eat better, lately (as in more healthy), what with the salads and what not, and I am currently full at 7 PM. I've had 1,640 calories...should I be eating more? Does it have to do with my size? Will I lose more weight if I eat 2,100 a day?
And the burn meter I think I've got down. I'm supposed to burn the "total estimate", right? Which for me is 2,810.
Thanks for your help, whomever does! ^^
Reason: please do not cross post the same post to multiple forums.
lizzbeth,
I am a little confused by the meters also! Anxious to see what the "veterans" have for advice : )
First, the burn meter - Based on the information you enter for height/weight/activity level, this represents an estimate of the calories you will burn during the course of the whole day. At 12 midnight, the meter will reach the top (total) number and start over again. The burn meter total will go up if you separately enter in other activities. For example, I input that I am sedentary and then add in that I went for a jog today - the jog will up my burn meter by the amount of calories burned by jogging alone. Hope that makes sense.
The eat meter is also an estimate based on the data you have input for height/weight and your goal weight. The system estimates the number of calories that you need to eat to lose weight at a reasonable pace (no more than 2 pounds per week, I believe). You can override the number in your account settings, if you want to adjust for changes in your activity or whatever. The calculator to estimate your eat meter calories is in the 'tools' section, I think, under calorie target. Anyway, the calorie target should remain the same each day and will move up with every food you enter until you reach your goal (or it will show you've gone over/under too).
I think that covers the basics...Hope this helps! Feel free to email me with other questions.
Thanks a lot! I actually just altered my goal month, and edited the eat meter to fit that. I hope I can pull this off!
You've helped a bunch. :DDD
Welcome Lizz, glad to see more teens taking a healthy approach to losing weight and becoming healthier overall. I pray my younger sister jumps on board soon. Our family has more overweight people than healthy weight range folks and I'm hoping we'll be able to turn that around.
