I was out and running around doing errands today, and after an intense cardio workout, i came home and my heart started pounding out of nowhere! I was feeling really lightheaded and tired, so i just laid down and let my body rest. It was noon and i had eaten 450 calories, but i had ALOT more to eat (like 1500 cals) because i realized i was really, really hungry and that seemed to make me feel tons better.
I am just slightly underweight, almost at a healthy weight now (recovering from an ED) ...Was my heart racing because i needed more calories this morning, as i had expended around 600-700 in exercise?
It was a bit scary...
Just wondering, but was this cardio work out on TOP of your errands?
If you're not a healthy weight, you shouldn't be doing ANY intense cardio. And you should be eating more like 2500 to keep gaining to that healthy weight. If you're doing errands for others, explain your need to stay largely stationary.
Even if you're close to a healthy weight, your body can still be in danger or unhealthy. That sudden pounding, the lightheadedness, the fatigue? It sounds like a palpitation. These CAN be fairly harmless... but equally, with your poor weight and eating history combined likely signal something a lot more serious for you. Tell me, have you had blood tests recently? Are you anemic?
It could have also been a plunge in blood sugar. Either way, don't ignore it. Take it as a warning sign to do more for your health than you are doing right now.
Ive had so many blood tests recently and everything came back fine. Im sure it was a palpitation though, i just think i need to try and fuel up on the go more.
It was on top of my errands, yes. My bmi is 19.8 now, so i choose to exercise alot more. (Mind you, i eat 2500 cals to maintain my weight with this exercise by the end of the day-always.)
Although, im not sure im burning that much because ive heard the calorie counts on the gym machines are way off as much as 50%? So i may be just burning 300, i dont really know, even though i input my weight/age.
thx lala
A BMI of 19.8 can be a good healthy weight for some people, but it is still quiet slim and running around on your feet all day AND doing additional cardio on top of that is enough to make you light headed!
You are probably aware that a BMI of 20 is recommended for people recovering from an ED, and you are almost there so well done!
Even with a BMI of 20, all that activity can really take its toll on people, no matter what their weight!
With your history of an ED, you may have done some damage to your body, and/or your body may still need some time to repair and so the activity you did could be hard on your body if you are still in a fragile state.
Just be more careful from now on, when you are running around all day next time you need to remember to eat more so you can avoid this situation again!
