a little gross...

So I went out drinking last night.  I haven't drank in over 3 weeks since I started counting cals and working out (a long time for a college kid lol).

Well you know that saying, "liquor before beer you're in the clear... beer before liquor you'll never be sicker"  Well it's TRUE!  Tequila after beer hurts in the morning.

So..... can you SUBTRACT calories for vomiting? lol I know this is a weird topic but I'm trying to stay up around 1900 cals.  With all the beer I drank (about 10) plus the food I ate, I hit just under 2100.

I'm not asking if you burn the calories off by throwing up, but do you "get rid of them".  I guess that's the best way to put it.  LOL

I guess this would be the same if you had a bad stomach virus, or food poisoning or something, so it's not completely irrelevant.

There's no way of knowing how many calories were absorbed before you upchucked.  I'd count them anyway.

By the way, if I drink beer before liqour, I turn out just fine.  Drink more water while you're drinking alcohol, and drink water throughout the night (whenever you randomly wake up with dry mouth, it's time to drink).  You'll have less of a hangover.
Don't go down that route.....  You're presumably not planning to throw up on a regular basis?

no no no lol... I got a little sick from drinking and threw up... I am in no way planning on becoming bulimic... I HATE throwing up I'm just saying.. do you LOSE (not burn) calories from throwing up

Yes, of course you lose a few but really it's not worth thinking about if throwing up is an irregular occurrence.

Yeah, I think you do.  I had a bacterial infection a few months ago that, coupled with my crappy gallbladder, made me throw up most of the food I ate.  I lost 10 lbs and I was miserable.  So throwing up does get rid of calories...in the worst way possible.

And as a fellow college student with similar experiences, I'd have to say throwing up from drinking works the same way.  I've gone to bed after a night of drinking and woke up the next morning still drunk, but if I throw up I'm fine the next morning, so I guess I don't absorb all the alcohol.

**I am not condoning throwing up for weight loss, vomiting sucks and I love food <3.

Personally I'd veer on the side of over estimating calorie consumption, disregard the 'revisit,' and take tomorrow as a new day.

Btw, congrats on making it three weeks!  I know how hard it can be when it feels like your social life revolves around it- keep it up!  the not drinking, not the revisiting.  LOL.

id say count your calories as you did, 2100. depending how soon/how much you threw up after you ate yes you got less calories but i dont think overall it will matter. if you were willingly to take the night off for the beer then what happened was part of it :p more or less you stayed with your eating and maintained college life :p

hahahaha. what's funny, i was wondering the same thing this morning. i got a little bit sick from too much booze last night too. oops!

i read a study one on bullemia that showed that even when the girls thought they had gotten everything they at up... they still had absorbed well over half the cals of their binge, even though they purged right after.

eh. Just forget about the calories. It's only one day so just start over tomorrow.
