A little help with the calorie coach, Please!

Quote  |  Reply

I have used calorie count on and off, updated my profile, changed goals and so on. But, I still have the same questions....

At the bottom of you "My Account" when you input your weight for the day there is a box that changes with what you lose

on the left- starting weight/ goal weight/ how many pounds lost/ and how many more to go....

your goal weight has a predicted achievement date based on the data you entered

directly next to that there is the calorie coach- thumbs up or thumbs down- then it says something about your TARGET weight and gives you another date.....

SO

What is the difference between your "goal" weight and what the calorie coach percieves as your "target" weight- they have to be different becuase if the weights were the same it wouldn't make sense.

The date in parentheses next to your goal weight is the date that you set (in your account settings). You can change it to whatever you like.

The date next to the thumb is what the calorie coach calculates you'll reach your goal weight by. I used to think that it simply assumed that you'd lose a pound a week, and so if you have 5lbs to go, you'll reach your goal in 5 weeks. 10lbs = 10 weeks. However, that doesn't seem to always be the case.

The bottom line - don't worry about it - the date that the coach estimates will change each time you log a new weight, and the date you set for yourself... well, what I've learned, after missing every one of my goal dates, is that what matters is what you've accomplished - not if it happened by some arbitrary day.

That's the thing- I didn't set my date- I let CC set it for me.....and it is based on a 1.5-2 lbs a week loss.....and the date is sooner than what the calorie coach said would be my target weight and date....and I lost 3.8 lbs this week so far...so that mean's I lost more per week than calorie count anticipated when they set my goal date....so the calorie coach does not make sense to me.....still...lol

You might have had CC set it for you when you initially set it up. You can always manually change it, but it will never change automatically. OTOH, the calorie coach goal will always update based on your most recent weigh in (and perhaps other factors - I haven't figured it out).

Really, don't worry about it too much - neither has any affect on how you actually do - they are more just a way to gauge your progress.

Thanks- its kinda nice to gauge your process....I just didn't know if CC had some sort of main brain that decided a "hidden target weight" that would be reached....haha..wishful thinking...or just silliness!

OK, the Calorie Coach is a joke! I have had weight losses each week and more than what was estimated for me to loose, keeping with the 1500 calories they set for me. The Coach has given me a thumbs down twice and the date the coach projected is a year later than what was set for me my calorie counts. I e-mailed and was told their technician would look into it. But, it has done it again. It may sound silly, but for me I need all the encouragement I can get and it is a real bummer to get that big fat thumbs down when you enter a weight lose!!  However, I am loving CC the whole idea works. Thanks for letting me vent.

hheehhee.

Its the same for me too- I love how the date drastically changes giving you a later date with the MORE weight you lose, which should make the date closer.

I understand needing all of the encouragement you can get, and even though it is just a computer generated thumbs up- it still feels great- and stinks when it is a thumbs down!

Hang in there...you are doing great!

Thanks mammamoosh! Glad to know someone else feels the same.
