okay so I've been trying to do the whole "eat more" thing for almost two weeks now... it's been going good for the most part, but the problem is that on days I dont work or do much of anything (like today!) I feel totally quilty.

for example today I slept in till 11, so when I got up I thought "oh hey, it's late I need to make up for the calories I should of eaten earlier" so I had breakfast and that brought me to about 600cal... THEN I fell asleep right afterwards.. woke up around 2pm and ate again! now at about 1000cal... then around 4pm I ate again now I'm at about 1300cal, I'm not really hungry for dinner yet, but I still need 300-500cal to reach my goal.

But I can't help feeling like total @$%& right now considering I've been sleeping and laying around the house all day... It's my first day off of work after ten days straight of 3-11 shifts. I was looking forward to this time off, but I feel gross now, I havent even showered yet!

man I'm lazy.

your thoughts?

Revel in it, you work a lot--be a lazy piece of crap for a day. I waitress 7-3 six days a week in the summer, on my day off I just sleep all day and actually make decent food instead of food I can eat while working--grapes and granola bars get OLD. I actually found that the lazier I am on my days off the better I do at work and the more inclined I am to work out and be friendly, etc. on work days. I don't know if you spend the day alone or not but I try to make a point to, its like detox from the world for a while, haha.

Congrats on eating more though--it takes A LOT of courage, I haven't really gotten there yet but I am trying every day.

hey carmen-

all i can say is that i am the same way.  if i dont do some sort of activity, i dont do intense excercise i mean like a walk or something, then i find it so difficult to eat the amount that i should be.  all i can say is that it is completely a mental thing that we need to learn to get over.  if anyone has anything helpful im all ears.  i guess basically what we need to keep in mind, is that even if we are not marathon runners or something nuts, our bodies still need nutrients- DAILY, to function.

Oh wow that's exactly what's happening to me!!

I guess it's because your body's just getting used to having more food and so is conserving the energy so you can put on weight healthily and at a good pace... *not so scientific idea*... at least, I like to think of it that way =]

Besides, it's good to rest ^^ so go ahead! I spent pretty much all weekend in bed because I just felt exhausted... an I have no idea why!

xxx

i work out every day or most days quite vigorously and working out seems to only make me hungry directly after....like i am so stuffed now from lunch and its like 8 at night!!! i dont know if i should force more food down, i am 300 away from 1600 which i wanted to hit. i would feel like a cow spooning pb in, i think that is prob not a good idea....

p.s how do u think alcohol plays into this little scheme of eating more, should i drink more too? id love to.

hi carmen, i dont know about the rest of you but i always have a night time snack.  you can easily reach 1600.  make sure its not the ED voice telling you youre not hungry, you know what i mean.  have toast+PB, or an apple+PB, wahtever

no worries, I hit about 1700cal today, for supper I had a veggie burger(110) on a whole wheat bun(110) with ketchup(10), mustard(5), lettuce(2) and some BBQ sauce(10) and like 2 cups of greens beans (80?)

i dont usually like eating much carbs at dinner, but the rest of my family was having real cheeseburgers made out of beef, so I thought I'd be somewhat normal and eat with them (I usually am at work during dinner time and I dont eat red meat).. it was a nice change though, although I wasn't very hungry... at least it should prevent me from snacking on junk late at night to get those calories in.

and fyi: I'm not trying to gain weight anymore demure i am trying to get my metabolism back running the way it should... and with a healthy diet and regular excersize I should be able to maintain my weight (hopefully)... so please comments about weight gain kinda scare me right now since I'm already past where I wanted to be :(, but if it happens it happens... I can always lose a few pounds healthily once my body realizes its not starving anymore

the main reason behind this post is asking if it is okay to eat my "light activity" calories (about 1700cal) if I am not doing anything besides sit/sleep all day? I suppose its okay as long as it doesnt turn into a habit.

anyways I'm gonna go for a nice walk in this beautiful wheather to make up for being a slug all day... peace.

hi, woops, my previous post was supposed to be to OINK, not CARMEN, sorry.

CARMEN-if you do see this, i saw on another post you said that you were eating 1800 als now, so awesome!!- and that you were now more energetiic and excercising, just curious, what sort of stuff?

thanks!

thanks huckaberry, but i'm hoping i detect a hint of sarcasm!

and if not, again thank you, i could use a little critisism to motivate me to work out!

haha?
