Could you live without meat?
I'm not saying ccould your BODY live without meat, I'm saying could YOU live without it.
Personally, I can't imagine myself without my precious chicken breast servings during weekends. Or octopus. Gawd. :] And OF COURSE, the occasional yummy (pork) steak.
How about you?
Yep, and I do.
Oh my gosh no! I feel so much stronger and healthier when I add in some lean cuts of meat in my diet. =) Unfortunately.. I don't really like the texture or taste too much; I only really like fish.. which I can't have too much of because of the mercury contamination. Bah!
in a second! I don't plan on trying it anytime soon, but if I had to, i could go vegetarian in a heartbeat! I love fruits & vegetables and tofu and just about every other "non-meat" food, so I'm pretty sure I'd be fine.
Vegan might be a bit dfficult though.......

How did you do it?
No way, José!
I, too, love chicken breast and eat it 3-4 times a week. I also couldn't survive without hamburger (I know, but I use the 95% lean kind...) for tacos and marzetti at least twice a month! I think the smell of ground beef and onions cooking is one of the best scents in the world.
I also love fish, and the occasional steak as a fancy treat.
Yeah, I'm a total carnivore. My totem animal is a cat, without question! :P
Do you mean how did I give it up? I was never a meat lover in the first place, and I've been a vegetarian by my own choice since I was 7 or so. I just decided I didn't want to eat it anymore, so I stopped.

I could relate a lot to your answer. Chicken is my ADDICTION. Not to mention hamburgers, cheeseburgers (of course, calorie-wise!)
The occasional steak sounds excellent too.
I really believe that people's bodies are different, and some do great without meat while others don't do well at all. I have a blood disorder (a kind of chronic anemia) and am actually encouraged to eat red meat once a week
I think liking or not liking meat may be a reflection of how much your particular body "needs" to have it.

Yup, I meant how you gave up. I suppose the difference between your body and mine would be...different taste buds? Congrats on becoming a vegetarian. anyway.
Yeah, I guess so. I don't have any other issues with meat, and I even cook it for my boyfriend every day ... it's just not my thing.
NEVER
I eat steak, chicken, pork, fish steak being my favorite
I had to live without meat last year when I was in the hospital with a bad tummy flu. I missed meat sooooo bad.
I've tried TOFU, just doesn't work for me
Quorn makes some wonderful things that taste just like chicken to me. I eat Gardenburgers and soy sausage too. So I can definitely live without the real thing. For tuna salad, I use mashed up chickpeas with a bit of vegenaise, chopped onion and sweet pickle.
I guess it just depends on what you want to choose.
I think I could try being a vegetarian if I found something that tastes EXACTLY like chicken...But that's gonna be hard, because I live in Romania and the supermarkets don't have good, calorie-wise choices, so I have to deal with what I have.
So, chicken it is :D.
I totally couldn't. I tried it once and I really just love a good lean slab of beef and some chicken breast. In fact I'm grilling sirloin rounds tonight and making mashed cauliflower and grilled zucchini with it. Call me a hardcore omnivore, I love the best of both worlds... and according to my doctor I am quite healthy and losing weight at a good pace.
I have 'vegetarian' DAYS where I eat nothing but veggies to kind of flush the system (or if they are more readily available - no defrosting! lol)
Absolutely, I do.
Octopus you can't live without?? This made me gag even when I did eat meat...

See again? Different taste buds...:D
I find octopus veeeery good. I mean it's even low in calories (I eat it grilled, mmm)
Ugh. Suckers.

?
Well, I probably could, but it's more of a matter of I really don't want to. Like others have posted, I like chicken, turkey, beef, and fish - but I like others like venison and ostrich as well. And I love a good bison burger.
So yeah, it's possible. I'm actually okay with tofu and things like Gardenburgers (I particularly like the black bean burgers), but I would miss the meat.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
