When did your LO start teething?
My daughter Pearl is 14 weeks old and I am now positive she is starting to teethe. She is rubbing her cheeks, refusing feedings, chewing on everything, shoving her fists in her mouth, waking up crying/sleeping restlessly, and of course drooling buckets.
I read that the process can take months. ![]()

When Julia cut her first teeth, it was sometime in Novemeber. she was born in July; so she was about the same age as Pearl. She got four teeth all at once! She had a fever :( and got a cold. Some diarreaha but that was only once. Very cranky. Not her normal self.
Now at almost 1 she has 8 teeth and I see two that just cut through the gums. She was very cranky last week but is now back to being her normal wonderful mellow self.
She never caught on to the cold teething things; so I used to put her fruit in the fridge and give that to her since it felt good on her gums. She wouldn't let me put the anbesol on her gums; and she liked to chew on the metal baby spoon I had.
Pearl should get used to it; if she's not a heavy drooler; and she's drooling she may definitiely be getting teeth- my Julia doesn't really drool so whenever she starts, I know something's up!!
Aww- good luck! If they get a fever; take her to the doc and he'll 99% allow you to give her some baby tylenol. One dose will take the pain away plus the fever.
Edit to add: Pearl is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy!!!
Thanks Vanessa! Yeah she's not really a drooler and now it's so bad I have had a bib on her 24/7. We were in the grocery store earlier and she kept spitting out her pacifier and shoving her bib in her mouth and gnawing on it. Earlier today I went to make a bottle and had her in the swing, I came back and she was bent over chewing on the side of the swing! She is for sure in some pain. :( No fever yet, though. Today was a bit better than yesterday, she actually took a 30 minute and a 45 minute nap. Yesterday she had zero naps. She tossed and turned ALL night, I had her in bed with me (my husband works nights now) and I kept waking up because she was whimpering in her sleep. Poor little peanut.
Cold teethers are working well, paci in the freezer for a few minutes is working. Distractions are working somewhat... we took a long bath together this afternoon and she was all smiles until we got out.
My mom and SIL keep telling me it's "too early" for her to be teething and it must be something else. I read somewhere online that it can start around 3 months, so I'm trusting my mommy instincts, especially since she is showing all the signs.
Yeah, Pearl is one day older than Aria and this has been her exactly lately. I forgot her Nuk the other day at the grocery store and had to give her my finger as a paci and she gummed the crap out of it. Her clothes are getting drenched from all her crazy amounts of drool.
I'm pretty sure she's teething. I hope it doesn't take months! Poor peanuts.

Me too!! I always thought I would only have one baby and be done but now I can see why people have 5 kids, haha.
me too! i aldready told my husband last night that next year at this time I'm going off my pill so I can have another!! At least I know now what to expect the first few weeks......as much as people told me what to expect- I wasn't prepared at all for the emotional angst!!
Just to throw in my two cents, John got his first tooth at 15 weeks, his second at 16 weeks. He then got his four upper teeth in around 5-6 months old. He's working on seven and eight right now (on the top again!).
It does seem to take FOREVER for the teeth to come in. Especially when they piggyback like John's did.
Definitely call the doc and ask about giving her Tylenol. Ours even calculated the exact dose to give John and it worked wonders.
All the babies are beautiful (not just being nice, either. They really are pretty little things!)
I think my son started teething around 3 months, and he was 4 months when he got his first teeth. He seemed to teeth constantly his first year! It really did take months for some of his teeth to come in. Try the Hyland's Teething Tablets - they seem to work. Also, Tylenol can help. My son wouldn't use teethers, so I can't say which of them work good! Good luck!
My son's two bottom teeth came in at 4 months, and his top two front teeth at nine months (they always seemed to come in pairs). My daughter will be a year old at the end of the month, and she still doesn't have any teeth.
We go for a well baby visit (and shots, eek!) on Monday and I'm going to ask about giving her a cold carrot to nom on, my mom swears by it but I'm too nervous since Pearl isn't on solids yet.
I can now SEE the tooth about to come through! Poor baby.
Well, I guess I can't compare to you moms. My daughter didn't get her first tooth til she was 14 months! Then the 2nd one at 16 months. She's almost 3 (in Oct) and she's still missing a few (2 canines and 3 2nd year molars). She's most definitely a late teether.
Raynebair, how did your daughter handle teething late? My son never fussed at all during his teething time; he was such a great baby! But I'm worried about what it's going to be like for my daughter. She's a few weeks shy of her first birthday with no signs of teething. I'm scared it's going to be a huge ordeal when it finally happens. I hope not!
Cecily - I think she handled it surprisingly well. She was a little more cranky and fussy but nothing major to give it away. It wasn't like some people that say oh yeah she's teething. It was more like, oh, she has another tooth coming in. No wonder she's been fussy these past few days. She never really had trouble with sleeping when her teeth were coming in either.
Maybe being a bit older she was more active (she was walking at 10 months so she was most definitely already getting around more) so she didn't notice it as much or it just didn't bother her as much. Plus she was eating regular foods mostly, so maybe that helped soothe her gums.
Thankfully, because she was a late teether, I think that saved us from the drool issue. She was never a big drooler.
Raynebair, how funny we were talking about this. I just noticed my daughter finally has a tooth! It's barely poking out, and you have to know what you're looking for, but it's there. :) She's two weeks shy of her 1st birthday, so she was definitely later than her brother. I think she may have another tooth coming in next to it (it's her top two front teeth), but we're having a similar experience to yours. My daughter hasn't been fussy at all, and absolutely no drool. :)
My daughter, now 2, cut her first 2 bottom teeth at 6 months (her 6 month "b-day") and then her two top teeth 2 weeks later. From then, her teeth consistently came in 2 at a time. She had 12 teeth at one, and all 20 right before her second birthday. While she was a terrible drooler, she didn't exhibit any real discomfort or pain while teething, even with her molars. I suppose I was really lucky this time around! We'll see when our second comes early next year if it works out the same.
I have a couple friends who had children the same time I had my daughter and one only has 6 teeth while the other only has 10. All kids are different! I did notice that the teething tablets were a huge help...particularly when she was having unexplained difficulty getting to sleep at times. I sized it up to teething pains and for sure they worked...if you haven't gotten any yet, I highly suggest it!
Good luck to you and your baby!

My first child didn't get his first tooth until 14 mos too! They say that babies who get teeth very late are supposed to be very intelligent. He's 11.5yrs now and I think it's true...but I am SO biased! Lol! I have so many pics of him walking around with a sock in his mouth. He would take off a sock and gnaw the crap out of it when his teeth finally started coming in! It was the cutest thing to have this toothless baby giving me the biggest cheeseburger smile with a sock hanging out of his mouth!
My 4th baby is almost 14 weeks now and she has been drooling for about 2 weeks. NONE of my other children drooled when teething so this will be new for me. I always saw other people with bibs on thier babies for the drool but never had to do that...until now. Her behavior doesn't seem to be too bad so I don't think she's in much pain or discomfort. She's got some snifflies and a bit of the watery poo (she's on mostly breastmilk with some formula). I don't know...we'll see! Good luck with all your teething babies!
Hi Everyone! Julia's going through another teething phase. She's got some attitude when they were just breaking through; but now she seems better. She is 14 months and has about 12-14 teeth. She stopped when she had the first four; and then the sides and a few more bottom came through. That was a long two weeks.....
hope everyone is well. Hugs to the BAMBINOS!!
