Quote  |  Reply

I am posting this because I need some help!

I have "loaf arms" (as my boyfriend likes to call them!) and I was wondering if anyone knows of any great arm exercises?

Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks!

Here's a good one. Sit your boyfriend down in front of you as you stand in front of him, arm's length away. Extend your arm forward, palm facing him, and biff him upside the head. Repeat this for as long as it feels good, then switch arms and biff the other side. If he asks, tell him this exercise for "loaf arms" came highly recommended. *g*

Seriously. "Loaf arms?" Somebody needs to learn himself a little respect.

Sounds like the best arm exercise I've ever heard of! :)

There are many weight exercises that are beneficial to arm toning.

Here is one link: http://www.weightlossforall.com/exercise-tone -arms.htm

Here's another link: Link

That one goes to prevention.com.  Most of what I do are listed on those websites.

...and for what it's worth, I showed my bf your picture as he was sitting next to me and explained what your bf said.  My bf said "I see nothing wrong with that girl".  So...I know your bf calls your arm loaf arms, but really, if you tone them up, I think *you* will be a lot happier with them.  Do it for you. :)

Thank you for your support, I'm printing up some arm exercises from these links right now!

And you are completely right, in the end, I am doing it for myself. :)

Yeah, and I'll bet he's a chiseled Greek god himself... lol

Sorry, couldn't resist ;)
LOL!

That's a good one! *Noted*

Although I support doing arm exercises, especially CC's!, if you want to slim down your arms (I do too!), unfortunately, you aren't going to be able to spot burn, you'll just tone the muscles underneath.  So cardio and working the big muscle groups (which will burn more calories) are going to be more useful in just slimming down. The arms will slim down whenever your body decides to let them go. At least that's my understanding. Sucks, don't it?

cc - HAH! I'm a college boy and even I know that respect!

sugarglitzkiss - try doing light, with low repetition sets working the bicep, triceps, and even throw a little forearms into that. You should probably be able to do 3 sets x 15 reps generally easy with the weight. It takes time! Good luck!

And shame on your boyfriend for saying that!!!! If I wanted a beat down i'd say the same thing to girl friends :).

I found tao bo(SP?) or kickboxing to be really great for the arms.  My arms really firmed up with all those punches.  Even helped get rid of the bat wings.  Is that the same as loaf arms?  And you could throw some of those punches his way for saying that.
I copied this from here a long time ago and it's helping me.  I do 50 ea, of two, and 25 of the other.

Working your triceps out will help with that flabby part of your arm. There are exercises for this muscle (using dumbells) including:
triceps extension
triceps kickback
Skull Crushers (Lying tricep extensions)

CC:   that's the funniest thing I've heard in ages.  I can't stop laughing.

ratinhat:  thats a good one also!!!!!!!!!

To be blunt, you're not a twig.  You're a little on the full-figured side.  But from your photo, your arms look in perfect proportion to your body.  If you slim down a bit, your arms will follow suit.  But it should strictly be for you, if that's what you want - your boyfriend should not be picking on your body parts.

My wife does it too, though - complains about my "love handles", which are so stubborn and hard to get rid of.

Anyway, I think your goals as they are seem pretty reasonable and should leave your arms looking shapely (not that they look bad at all now. Just healthy.) I haven't seen your height, but I assume you're also tall?

We have the same arms! I got mine from my grandmother :)

And I got mine from my mother!

Thank you to everyone for the support! Laughing

hehe - I've never heard the term "loaf arms" before.. I always hear "tuck shop lady arms"...

The ladies and I get together to do some boxing (just the little focus pad things...). I don't know if its any good for arms - though we try to convince ourselves that it is- but it sure is fun!
