How do you log independent restaurants calories?

Quote  |  Reply

For instance I went to this little mexican place today for lunch.  I have the mini steak tacos.  They are these little corn tortillas with carne asada, avocado and pico de gallo.  I also had a little refried beans.  How do you long this?  It isn't a chain restaurant so its not in the database.  I can't find anything close.  Do I do it separately?  What about the way they cook it?  I am sure there is more calories than just logging it by itself.  Please advise...

I just did a search for "steak taco" and "carne asada taco" with about a million results. Surely one of these would be reasonably close.  Then add whatever extras you had separately.

I log the foods seperately or if I find a similar food combination from a restraurant I tag that and then add as necessary.  It is better to be higher than to underestimate. (At least for me, that is).  I wish you luck.

This is what I do for my favorite mexican independent restraurant. I order a Queisidallia Special.  It is grilled mushrooms, onions, and green peppers on  a tortillia shell, with white american cheese, so I find each one and just add butter for the grilling.  It comes up to be about 490 calories.  I normally tell then no accompanyment for the grilling. So I think that is about right with the shell and cheese.

Good luck and best wishes in your logging.

Take care and God Bless.

Thank you for your help.  Everybody is so nice here Laughing

refried beans is made with lard...

opt for black beans instead.
