Do you log when you sleep?
I am just wondering if anyone logs their sleep in the activity log? I log my daily routines (shower, driving, sitting at my desk for 8 hours, exercising, etc.) but then I usually leave the rest as "normal expenditure" since that is the time of day that I don't allot to a specific activity.
How much of a difference does it make to go back each morning and add sleep for the night before (since you might not know how long you sleep until the next morning), or logging it before you go to bed if you know when you need to wake up.
Is the difference between calories burned through "normal expendigure" vs. while sleeping that different? I guess I am afraid you burn LESS sleeping and therefore I don't want to risk not logging as many calories burned! LOL
Advice, feedback......Thanks!
From what I understand you aren't supposed to log things like sleep, driving, sitting at a desk. That is included in normal expenditure.
Someone tell me if I'm wrong.
I could definitely use some clarification on this :) I am set at sedentary as well, but why would they list all the activities if you aren't supposed to log them?
I know that any time logged for all the activities is subtracted from the "normal expenditure" amount. So, the way I see it, is if I am not accounting for the time by logging it for each activity, the system accounts for it under "normal expenditure".
However, I am thinking that I probably burn more calories sitting at my desk typing for 9 hours a day then if I left it out and it was accounted for under "normal expenditure" since I am actually moving and such.
I am with you......someone please tell me if I am wrong as well! Thank you for the response, geminmd!
I guess I really don't know either then. Anyone know how we are supposed to log stuff?
it seems like fewer calories an hour to sleep than sedentary time, so i log it just to make sure I'm not logging more calories than I'm burning.
Mark sedentary and only log 'actual exercise' minutes. I put in my own stats according to my heart rate monitor.
~H~
No, I only log ACTIVE tasks which have me standing upright and moving around for at least 30 minutes... eg. housework, laundry, shopping... if I do it sitting down or standing still it doesn't count unless I was doing it for five hours straight, like when I sorted out all our files standing at the kitchen table.
