How do I log walking with a pedometer?
Because my 10,000 daily steps are spread out through the day, how do I log it to ensure I'm not getting into too much of a deficit? (This is on top of my daily workouts).
Thanks!
I have the same question, sorry cannot give answers. I would like to know that since I have set my activity leve to Lightly active, should I be logging my Pedometer calories burnt as well, or would they be covered in my activity calories of 1800. Also, should I just be logging my gym calories?
The average adult walks at a pace of approximately 3 mph.
Again, for the average adult, 6000 steps = 3 miles. So you can figure that 10,000 steps = 5 miles (again, just an approximation.)
Therefore, what I would do would be to assume that I walked at a pace close to 3mph. 10,000 steps at 3mph would probably translate into about 90 minutes (give or take) of walking if you did it all at once. Try logging it as 90 minutes of walking at 3mph, level, moderate pace, firm surface.
Then just pay attention to how your weight loss (or maintenance) seems to progress given the deficit this gives you. If you feel like you are losing too quickly, or if you stall, then you might have to play with the numbers a little until you find what works. But like I said, that seemed to work pretty well for me. :)

According to a number of places online (with a good reputation and information), a person walks about one mile in 2100 average steps. It takes about 20 minutes to walk a mile.
Hope this information is helpful. I was looking at pedometers a few weeks ago, wanting to buy one to help me more accurately record my daily activity and found the Omron HJ -112 Pedometer to be one of the best at a reasonable price.
Best of luck to you....
