Logging recipe details in weight log
Hi- Is there an easy way to log a portion of the new recipe I have tagged and prepared from this site? Please give me any suggestions - or do I just log the calories for each portion?
If the recipe was already entered into the database, all you need to do is click on "add to food log" and it will add one serving, as detailed in the recipe (if the recipe makes 4 servings, it will add ONE). You need to be careful that you actually had a serving, and not 1 1/2 (or 1/2). Measuring by weight helps.
Also, sometimes recipes in the database are missing ingredients that the analyzer has not found - you need to make sure that everything is accounted for, so double check it and, if not, then add the missing item manually ... or re-enter the recipe - although this is a cumbersome activity, it may save you time in the end if you are going to be making that meal regularly.
Hope that made sense!
I'm not sure what you're asking. If you want to add a different portion size to your food log it's not possible unless you copy the recipe and change the number of portions, then log that recipe.
If the recipe is fairly simple with few ingredients you might want to log each ingredient separately and then tag them all with the same tag. Then, the next time, you can click on the arrow next to the tag name in the right hand side bar and it will add the entire group.
I hope this helps.
Hi cc31
Thanks - that did answer my question - perfect. This is a great site for good recipes. Thanks everyone for sharing. This has really help me jump start my new "healthy lifestyle" - I hate the D word.
It is also very easy to do if you are weighing your food. For example, let's say you had 156 g of something. After you click on the "add to food log" button, the details of the recipe comes up. Before you do anything, select "values per 100g" (a couple of lines under the what meal option). Now you can enter the 156 in the weight box (just above what you selected). This will give you the calories.
I use this all the time when I put my own recipes in - sometimes I have leftovers and eat them for lunch or there is something tasty I want to eat but I know I can only have a little bit - I can find out exactly how much fits into my daily plan.
Hope this helps and makes sense...
