How long until I can achieve a flat tummy?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!

I gave birth to my son in August 2008, and I went back to the gym pretty quick (about 4 weeks post partum) I have gotten back to my pre-preggo weight range (3 lbs to go) but when I sit my tummy has the gross bulge of extra skin. I do work on my abs almost every day. Maybe I should switch doing my abs in the beginning of my workout when I'm less likely to wing it...

Does anyone here know realistically how long it takes to loose the "pooch" ?

if it's skin and not so much fat, then you may never completely lose it. the best you can do in that case is to keep doing what you're doing and use things like firming lotions, etc. to try to firm up your skin...you could always get a tummy tuck if it absolutely won't go away...but you can't burn skin off like you can w/ fat...but definitely give it at least a year before you really get concerned. think about it: it took your body 9 months to stretch your skin, etc. to accommodate your baby growing. for most normal people it's gonna take at least a year to get your body back...for some people it takes longer (like me...working on 2 years now)...some people never get back to "normal"

mmm.... if it is this bad after one, I can't imagine what I'll look like if I end up having another!!!! My belly did get HUGE for a first pregnancy, so I guess time (and crunches) will tell! Thanks for your advice!
