How long on diet? Are you successful?

Quote  |  Reply

I have been trying to lose weight for about 4 months now, and have lost about 10 pounds. How about you? How long have you been dieting (this time), and how much weight have you lost within that time?

I started July 1st and have lost a total of 17 lbs so far 10 more to go =)

That's great, hebasita! Have you gained and lost in the past? What kind of diet are you using, or is it your own diet?

First off...this is not a "diet" for me it is a lifestyle change.

Started April 5, lost 28 lb so far.  I'm pretty much at my goal weight. I look good.  I might go for 2 more lb and make it an even 30 just for kicks.  I'll still be in the healthy range.

:-)

Well, I don't really like to call it a diet...just because that seems temporary.

I started on July 21st and I've lost 6 pounds so far. I lost all 6 in the first 2 weeks and now it's taking a bit longer...I am hoping to be down another 2 pounds this time next week, for a total of 8 pounds in roughly 5 weeks. But we'll see...

I have 25 pounds till my goal weight though.

Oops, double post.

I just count calories really not a diet but i keep my calories under 1300 and it worked for me. and yes as many others said, its a life change not temporary :D but im glad i came across this website.. other wise i would been yo-yoing between diets now .. what are you following?

I try to not consider it a diet like people said, but w/e.  I started on June 13th at 249 lbs (I'm a 6' tall 17 yo male btw) and I've been eating 1400 cals/day, I've lost 26.6 lbs as of this morning, yeah!  Only like 60 lbs more to go.

I started May 2nd at 168 pounds and my current weight now is 140!! :)

I started making changes to my diet and exercising around summer 2003 (!!!) when I was 175lb, now I have been maintaining at 128-129lb for most of this year. Have been on calorie count for the last year and a half, since I was ~140lb. I am a slow and uninspiring weight loser!!

25 pounds in about 5 months

January to July of this year. Lost 26 pounds and now in maintenance.

From around March a total of 48 lb.

For more precise dates...I started CC on May 12 (from then) and I'm down 27 lb.

Started Jan 01st and so far lost 106lbs.

5 months and lost nearly 50 pounds - was 210 pounds starting weight.  obviously the heavier you are when you start the more you will lose and often quicker.

cindiw1:  I think you are going about your weight loss in a very intelligent fashion.  I think it is very wise to lose around 2 to 4 pounds a month.  However, having said that, I started dieting/exercising in March and lost 45 pounds in 3 months.  That was way too much too fast.  If I had it to do over again (and I don't want to do it over again! LOL), I would have slowed down my weight loss to no more than 6-8 pounds a month.

Just over 6 weeks.

4.2 lbs.

Targets 45lb in 72 weeks, then 22lb in 52 weeks.

Target averages 0.6 and 0.4 lb/wk, therefore so far so good (@ 0.7 lb/wk).

And likewise, it's not a diet (still eating some foie gras, lots of bread and cheese and drinking wine), just slightly reducing the calories (counting them is usually enough) and increasing the kcal expenditure with a bit of exercise and a few tricks (I'm typing this standing up - uses an extra calorie or two per minute).

I joined CC around the start of 2008...and lost about 25 lbs in a few months....but I was doing a routine I couldn't stick with...so I gained back 20 of those pounds and then re-comitted the start of 2009 and have lost 30 lbs VERY slowly.....but it is something I am sticking to, so I think it is a good way to lose weight....as long as I don't get impatient with my slow progress. I sometimes want to just get to 155 and then mantain it....but I know that even if it takes me another 6 months to get there....I will be more likely to keep it off if I do it slowly. (from statistics, and knowing how I am :))

Good job to all!!

Started changing my eating habits around the middle of july, so it's been about a month. I started out cutting down on eating out, etc. I also began using the wii fit as often as I could. That got me down a couple pounds. The last week and a half I have slacked a bit on the calorie-counting, but I've really ramped up the exercise and I can see the results. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I can see the difference, and that's good enough for me for now.

I'd been struggling with dieting for 2 years, getting up to 182 around April of '08, but finally put my foot down in April '09 and have gone from 171 to 147 since then. So 35 pounds since April '08, 24 pounds since April '09 - when I really took dieting and excersizing seriously and used calorie count religiously. Now that I've formed good habits, I've stopped counting and I'm still losing because my eating has become pretty routine and I'm better at honestly estimating my calorie intake (still measuring things like soy sauce and salad dressing though!).

My goal is 130, so I have just 17 pounds to go! (I'm 5'4)
