Hi Daily!

I just began with CC on Feb 13th. I did my first weigh in a week later on Feb 20. I lost 3 pounds during that one week. And I don't feel as miserable in my clothes.

I never dreamed that I would find myself counting calories, but last week while doing research for another plan, that I had started 3 days earlier. I slid right into CC, and left the other plan in the dust.

I look forward to being here. I really like it! I no longer feel deprived. I no longer feel like someone on the outside looking in. I have been on many many diets. And this one has been around longer than all of those put together. But years ago, I was not convinced that it was the best way to go, till now. It was an old way of doing things, and all the new stuff had begun. it has taken me to be 49 going on 50 to get smart...ha! Just think of all the time, money and energy I have wasted. But...one thing is forcertain. I HAVE ARRIVED!!! I am very happy and contented. Now I can eat REAL food and snacks, AND, lose weight.

You might have to explain more of what your doing, in order for anyone to help. Have you been dieting and hit a plateau, maybe? Or are you dieting and not losing in general?

Hang in there. If anyone can help? CC sure can. Smile

I have been on CC since the beginning of February. I am 5' 1" and 203 (down one pound since I started.) I eat 1600 calories a day and have a very active schedule (I rarely sit, except for class) as I attend a university. I do cardio three times a week for as long as I can handle (I have asthma) usually 30-45min. I do strength training (sit-ups, weight lifting, squats, lunges, etc) every day. I have hypothyroidism (that's how I gained the weight) and I am wondering if maybe my slow metabolism is the cause? If so, should I be eating less? Or just exercise more? Or both?
It honestly took me about 30 pounds for me to notice, and about 40 pounds for anyone else to notice!

I've heard that there are a couple of ways to increase your metabolism - just my 2 cents:

1.  Eat 5-6 mini-meals; never skip a meal; eat breakfast.

2.  Increase your muscle mass - do more weight lifting.

3.  Never eat below the recommended cal. intake; eating less will put you into a starvation mode which will result in slower metabolism.

4. Don't create more than 1000 cal deficit per day (or 7000 cal deficit per week - whichever works for you)

5. Drink enough water

6.  Cardio is also important to boost your metabolism temporarily.   So keep doing (don't replace cardio with weights)

Good luck!!

PS - I am 10 pounds lighter but I don't see any differences (same dress size, etc etc) but people noticed (all of a sudden, people made some comments this weekend).  This is funny because usually I am supposed to notice first and then others.

Another way of increasing metabolism is to drink green tea. It will speed up your metabolism, is full of antioxidants, has zero calories, and tastes pretty good, too.
You may be over estimating your calorie output as well.  I used to think I was very active and then i bought a pedometer to see how much walking I really was doing and it wasn't at much as I originally estimated.  To 1600 calories might be the high end of your diet plan.  I am 5'5" 201lbs and also have a thyroid problem.  If your thyroid is controlled properly with medication than that is not the cause of your weight.  I've often used that as an excuse.  Be honest with yourself about what you are eating and get a pedometer.  I think you'll be surprised how much you are not moving.
