Do you like long hair (on women)? At what point does it go from looking good to looking creepy? At what age does it become weird to have really long hair?

The vast majority? Really? Because I know a whole lot of people who can't stand the mainstream and would much rather live life on their own terms than drudge out a 9 to 5 and start a typical American family. In fact, the vast majority of people I know can't stand that kind of forced societal conformity and would much rather take an alternate path to contentment.
In my opinion, one can look just as beautiful dressed in an alternative style (like punk rock, for instance) than an accepted one like a pencil skirt and blouse. In fact, I think those with different styles have the ability to be far more desirable because they are unashamedly dressing for themselves, not for others. I'm sorry, but I just don't find conformity for the sake of it attractive; I find it banal. I'd much rather be with (and even just around!) somebody who has a strong sense of who they are, what they like to wear, and what they're doing -- because they want to do it, not because society does, their parents do, or because they perceive it to be 'more attractive.'
Nothing to add. I just like this post a whole lot. :)

than you aren't part of the vast majority of society. Nothing wrong with that, I am just making generalizations to explain at least 1 reason why most people care about appearances.
But for argument's sake, you could still be attracted to the work ethic part and leave money out of it.

I was using the word mainstream to indicate majority. which even if that is not the majority of people you personally associate with, I think that it still applies to the majority of americans(the typical american as you put it). Most of my personal friends(as well as myself) fit more in the alternative styles as well, but I certainly know more people that are professional and if you go to any college campus, there are far more sorority/fraternity looking folks than alternative types...and if you read my later posts, you will understand that i really meant all of this to be applied to cleanliness, not actually style.
and just because I don't like people thinking Im a yuppie, I'll tell you what my actual personal style is. it tends to vary depending on my mood, but I go between punk, nerdy, and vintage most commonly :)
and I don't think you should be sorry about not finding conformity attractive. Unfortunately, a lot of people still work in jobs that do not allow a whole lot of flexibility. I can still express myself with accessories(I love pins...im such an old lady at heart, haha) but must dress business casual.
again, my post was debating cleanliness, not style...

LOL - got it! i'm pretty sure i've read that hiaasen book (i've read pretty much every one! love the hilarity that ensues in his novels!) - but just read a synopsis of it and can't remember it very well - may be time for a re-read!
strip tease was my fave hiaasen by far, the characters were his best ever imo... then stormy weather, then lucky you, then basket case. thats all ive read of his stuff.
every single hiaasen book is awesome! i have not been disapointed by a-one :)
