Anybody else out there have long hair?
Ever since I was a little girl I've always loved long hair. Even though my hair isn't as thick as I'd like, I still like that it's long. Right now it's almost waist length. I love doing different things with it like french braiding and spiral curls, or whatever.
One pet peeve that I have is the fact that some women (when they get older) think you need to cut your hair short. Why? I think Jane Seymour's hair is beautiful and she's older. Whenever I see a stranger with beautiful hair I always make the effort to compliment them.
Just my thoughts......:)

i used to have long hair... chopped it off to my shoulders when i started college (almost done with my second year now). it was just time for a change. but i'm growing it out again rigtht now so i will soon =)
I too have long hair and I love it. I just recently (about a month ago) went from waist length, to just at the bottom of my shoulder blades. I had a bunch of split ends and I needed to clean them up.
I love that I can wrap my hair up into a huge chignon and tie it loosely. I think long hair is versatile. Also, it isn't that much maintenance. a blow dryer seldom touches mine!

I have long hair, past the waist... many people tell me I should wack it all off and donate it to Locks of Love. Lately, it has been giving me terrible headaches (all that weight)... so sadly, it is something I am starting to consider. I've never colour treated or applied harsh chemicals. I don't use hairspray or hair care products other than shampoo. I've also been noticing with the additional weight and after talking the the saloon where I get it trimmed, that I am starting to thin on top. That's something definitely worth keeping an eye on with long hair.
I agree, what is up with that? I have vowed to never cut my hair short as I age and to NEVER ever perm it after. I think it is the strangest thing. Oh I saw this lady at trader joes once and man I so want her hair when I get her age! She let it go all silver, and it was LONG and so so so pretty! I mean why not accept yourself as you are and flaunt it as a GOOD thing. I think it all comes down to the fact that in our culture we do not respect our elders like we should. In most other cultures they are the experienced wise ones yet here I have never felt it to be that way. Just a thought :)
I haven't had long hair in years but last night I had a dream that my hair was so long that the hairdresser who was doing me up for some sort of evening out, could make two huge, thick braids, then fold them over themselves, sort of Princess Leia style. And I was oh so thrilled in my dream. LOL
I can give or take length, but I do wish my hair wasn't so fine.

thing is, with long hair, a lot of women let it just hang flat so it looks all tired and boring looking. Or just a ponytail, and really, ponytails should be banned, lol! i think thats why a lot of ppl want women to trim their hair as they age, because women just have other things to do than fix their hair all the time, so they end up wearing it in a ponytail.
i have them sometimes too, but i always try to wear my hair down or do something nice with it.
anyway connie, your hair is amazing! id love to have curly hair. and no my hair isnt straight its just kinda wavy/inbetween lol. my best friend has big thick curls with tonnes of volume but barely any hair, whereas i have thick shiney healthy FLAT hair :| and that sucks! lol

I am so guilty of the ponytail. I worse the really sloppy tie it up bun. I cant stand my hair in my face and don't have the time or patience to figure out what else to do.
I have semi-long hair, it rests about 4 inches below my collar bone. I am 26. I don't plan to keep my hair long after my mid-30s (I don't mean 'chop it off', just at my shoulders or above). I think long hair ages older women, esp if they let it go grey, eek!
If you're short (I am just below 5'4") too long hair doesn't look good either (I think mines' even too long).
I like Jane Seymore's hair in Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman; it suit the part. I don't, however, like it in real life.

I've always loved having long hair, you can do so many fun things with it! It's just a little hard to manage and sucks up a lot of shampoo and conditioner (for me, I have VERY oily skin).
Ever since I was 14 I get this itch where I need to have shortish hair. The best thing I ever did for myself is getting my hair cut in a fancy salon at age 19 (I'm 20 now), boy did she know what she was doing! I didn't even recognize myself and she really didn't take that much off, it was still a little past shoulder length.
I've been going to her ever since, and I've always been more than happy. Now I'm more brave and will let her cut my hair almost as short as by my ears. It's more than worth the 60 bucks I pay =)
Anyway, I love long hair, but I see a lot of young girls like me, with limp damaged hair that does nothing for their faces. A lot of women in hollywood with long beautiful hair look great! I do miss doing fun things with my hair, but now I get to do hair clips and head bands that would have been lost with my long hair. So that's still fun ^^. Plus it's easier to manage and I don't use a huge amount of shampoo and conditioner everyday.
I'm for hair both ways. I understand how easy it is to get attached to your long hair. I was for many years. =)

long hair only looks good if it's taken care of. I think it's so gross when women have reallly long hair and it's all ratty at the ends because they never get the split ends cut off...
I'm going to cut my hair short one day, probably when I'm older I dunno.. it's just for a change and I think it's probably easier to dye and style than longer hair.
I'm 40 and my hair is fairly long. I think if it were short, I'd look like every other middle aged mom around me. In fact when it was short several years ago I did get mistaken for the bank lady all the time.
There used to be a "Miss Manners" (don't remember her name, she was a columnist) who had very long white hair and she said people nagged her all the time to cut it; that it wasn't appropriate for a woman of her age. Her answer was always that she liked it and her husband loved it and those were the only opinions that counted.

Has anyone ever watched Willow? I love Fin Raziel's long white wavy hair. That's what I want mine to look like when I'm her age.
I used to have long hair, but not as long as some of you guys - i don't think i would have the patience to have waist long hair. I chopped all mine off (to the shoulders) because it was looking kinda ratty and it was hard for me to maintain and style. It was just kinda blah and not very modern looking.
I think as long as you take care of your mane, long hair can be really nice if it suits your face shape and stature.

I have long hair and I think it's one of my best assets. I always said I'd cut it when I turned 30, but I've actually had bad dreams that I did just that!! Don't plan to anytime soon. It used to be close to my bum and all one length, all the way around. But in the past couple years I got layers and bangs, and shortened it a bit, just for a change. Some days I regret it, but it's okay. I can still french braid it to the back. And it has a really nice natural curl, especially when I use a difuser. I've had the same hair stylist for 13 years, now. Just something I take pride in.
I've got long hair about a few inches past my waist. I love long hair, I just wish mine didn't thin out SO much.
I have short hair (I am a man, after all:-))) but adore long hair. Here in Vietnam I am in heaven as all the ladies have long hair. Before I married my wife, she had to promise that she would let her hair grow, which she did. The only down-side is that her hair takes hours to dry due to the high humidity.
Women here wash their hair with a fruit/nut that makes the hair very shiny, perfect;-)

I've pretty much always had long or longish hair, but I am VERY guilty of the ponytail sin. Now it's just past my shoulders. It was incredibly long, but I got 18 inches cut off this past October. Yes, I was a bit emotional, and, yes, I donated it. I got it cut because my wonderful son loved to hang off of it (he's now 7 months old), and I had absolutely no time to deal with that much hair.....BTW, I still commit the ponytail sin almost every day... :(
I have long hair at the moment. I actually donate my hair every two years to Locks of Love, so I'm continually growing it out and chopping it off. Right now its about to my waist, but I'll be cutting it soon. Because my hair grows freakishly fast, I'm able to donate about 16 inches every other year. I have to admit though, I tend to prefer it shorter . . .
I love long hair. Mine's about bra-strap length. I'm growing it but I'm not "into" long hair like some people are. I usually grow it really long and then chop it off. I seem to be rather attached to my hair anymore -- don't really want to cut it.
What's with all this "I'm going to/I was going to cut my hair by 30"? HAHA! I thought it was OLDER (50, 60s) ladies that were "supposed" to stick with short hair. Long hair is NOT JUST for 20 year olds! Anyway, I LOVE to see older women with long hair. Some nimrod stylist once told my mom to keep her hair cut SHORT -- oh and she does! Thing is, she has got THE most GORGOUS hair when it's long! (She's in her 60s.) And so what if you don't do anything with it and just wear it in a pony tail!
Bottom line is: If YOU are happy with your hair the way it is, that is ALL that mattters! EVERYBODY is ALWAYS going to have an opinion and you'll never be able to please them all! It's easiest just to please yourself.
