How long for the new prez's honeymoon?
Any guesses on when the new prez's followers will float back down to earth?
The Wedding was Nov. 4th, the Honeymoon ended yesterday. But our country has changed forever.

The Convention, of course.
So... The rich will now start sharing their toys, the military will all come home the world will be a cleaner, greener place
I hope everyone's as realistic as you are suggesting.

You're very optimistic but, hey, why not?

I think the general consensus is that very few people expect monumental progress to start happening right freakin' now. (The poll I cited mentioned two years.)
New prez's honeymoon length? 100 days

How do you lambaste the media in one post and cite it in another? Just curious.
Look, blame the hoopla on the media. President Obama couldn't be more serious in his intent or more dedicated to doing a good job. His transition alone demonstrates this. He's been busting his ass to get it right and avoid the Clinton transition mishaps.
It isn't a honeymoon. If we allow ourselves to be sucked in to that idea, then our involvement in the process ends.
However well or ill the POTUS does, it's our responsibility to stay engaged and not revert to 'those guys in Washington' thinking.
Eek... the above link is relevant to our collective well being... what Sasha and Melia ate for lunch isn't.

Because she can:
I will read what I want too and post what I wantread

Yeah - just aping what ali wrote.
You're the one aping that is for sure. You complain and whine about what the media focuses on and then you focus on what the media says. Way to go.
Obviously you people own other's opinions, even though you can't read or comprehend them when stated. Clearly - I can have an opinion that what two kids eat for lunch will not affect the state of the union. You probably read people magazine too.
I stated opinion
She stated it is not opinion, but stated HER OWN opinion.
Then told me not to read if I don't like, so I gave it back to her.... aping.
You know - if you don't like where you are- leave... I don't like where I am, I'm LEAVing - Don't like spending time with hypocrites.... so BYE!
This is not an open forum, it is a vulgar forum that is ownd by a few with big mouths.
As citizens in a democracy, we're failing if we aren't skeptical of our politicians. My point was that we never should have allowed ourselves the luxury of complicity in the first place.
I think President Obama shares this view.
We are the change we need.
i think akgal is right about the 'honeymoon' being the first 100 days
for some reason, people always evaluate how effective a new president is in his first 100 days
*shrug*
the TV is not your friend
TV news has been cancelled -- you're getting infotainment and entermation from corporate media and that's that - they are a profit center and nothing more - they're no longer a public service
to keep up with actual news, i recommend these sites:
This is a short list. I have a longer list in another thread. Not sure if I can find it.
well, i can tell you that i'm already disappointed with the amount of time he's spending in prayer services. seems like a poor use of his time, especially since they've taken away his blackberry, so he can't even work while he's in there. but - that's me ;)
ok, as to the bickering going on in this thread, people, must you?
one thing that annoys me and i see it fairly often is for members to tell other members not to participate in a thread or a forum
you're here (in the lounge) to express your opinion about something (presumably)
you can disagree without resorting to childishness
try it -- it's awesome
thanks for your cooperation in making the lounge a fun place to hang out

Also, I completely agree that what they eat is irrelevant, so why do I keep seeing posts mentioning it? (including this one, ironically...)
- 4.2% - U.S. unemployment rate when President George Bush took office
- 1342.5 - Standard & Poor's 500 stock market index the day before Bush took office Jan. 2001
- 2.6 million -- average number of jobs the U.S. economy created each year during Bill Clinton's presidency.
- 47 - Deaths of J.S. military personnel in actions ordered by President Bill Clinton (Haiti & Somalia)
- 7.2% - Unemployment rate as Bush leaves office on Jan. 19, 2009
- 850.1 - S&P 500 index the day before Bush left office
- 1 million - Average number of jobs the U.S. economy created each year during George Bush's presidency.
- 4,868 - Deaths of U.S. military personnel in actions ordered by President Bush (Iraq & Afghanistan)
Thought this was interesting....Hoping obama can do better than bush & clinton - we really need it.
