How long and how much? People on cc for greater than 60 days, please.

Hey all,

I'd love to get some long term results from folks on their success using cc to lose weight. If you've been using this site for 2 months or longer I'd love to know what your starting weight was, where you are today and if you're satisified or disappointed with you weight loss to date.

Any thoughts and data would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to get an honest gauge on how this site works for people who've committed to it long term.

Plus, it's fun to give people a chance to brag!

Thanks, Soobie

Reason: released from stickiness

I started my journey on July 30  2007 at 250 pounds.  Searching the Internet for nutritional information I found CC.  Joined in August 2007, lost 90 pounds in 6 months.  I have been doing maintenance since January and use CC to log my meals.

Great site,  provides good tools and great forums.

Good luck with achieving your goals.  It is possible.

Well I'm 13 (by the way) and I joined this site on May 24, 2008 and on my last weigh in on August 5, 2008 I weighed in at 176.8 pounds. And I'm shooting for five more before school starts on the 26th.

Wish me luck!

i have been on here for about 2 months i think.  i have been really serious about it for 1 month.  I have lost 10 lbs so far and i have about 75 left to go.

i was using diet.com, im not blaming the website for my failure but it was expensive and not to mention nowhere near as awesome as cc is.  this website is a gem and i am very dedicated to logging my progress even when i have terrible days and eat a million calories i still force myself to log it all and it really helps put things in perspective.

Not that you need any more proof, but...

I've been here a little over a year and started at 259. I'm now at 206. :)

It definitely works. For some, like myself, it goes a little slower than it does for others. But, you WILL get there!

 Best of luck to you!

I've been here for just under 2 years, started at 184 (I'm 5'4", medium frame). I gained a bunch of weight when I quit smoking, and a girl on another forum posted a link about this site and the rest is history.

I joined here and started losing. It was hard at first because I was starving all the time, but my body quickly adjusted to the amount of food I was consuming and I felt a lot better. I lost about 13 of the 21 lbs I've shed the first few months. I've messed around, logging and then not logging for the last year and a half, and have lost another 8.

I recently came back and joined a challenge, about 3 weeks ago
and lost 4lbs initially but have plateaued, it seems, for the last week and a half. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm eating too much or too little or if it's just water weight. I'm giving it til my next weigh-in on wednesday before I change anything.

Even thought I've stopped logging several times in the last 2 years, this has only caused me to lose much more slowly or to basically maintain, with slight fluctuations of a couple lbs over a period of several months. To me, this is success. I have changed. I was the classic yo-yo dieter before this, and now I read labels and am aware of the calories in most foods that I eat regularly.

I still have another 32lbs to lose to reach my goal of 131, but I look a ton better than I did at 184 and I feel so much better, all around. I rave about this site to everyone I know who brings up weight in a conversation. I love this place and I love the fact that it doesn't take a lot of faith in fancy science to believe that it will work. Calories in - calories out. Very simple. I know there are some more complicated issues, but that's the basic principle.

HI Soobie -

I read your profile. I'm a little older than you (45), and also a mother of 2 kids. Our starting weights were similar (btw, I'm 5'8"). CC is working for me -- and I've been overweight for at least 15 years.

SW 212.5 on March 3rd, 2008

CW 174     38.5 pounds lost so far

GW - my 1st goal to reach by Oct. 1st is 167 (that will be 45 pounds gone. Then ultimately another 20 pounds after that - hopefully by March 1, 2009).

I've tried to be very consistent with what I eat- only a little cheating. And a few months ago I started exercising and weight training (first time ever in my life) which really seems to help.

Good luck to you.

I started CC over a YEAR ago (July 18th!) and I have lost 56.5 lbs since then! Plus learned things, met new people and learned a better way to take care of myself! ^_^

One year ago as of August 1st, and I've lost 32.9 lbs--I'm 4.6 lbs away from my goal weight of 135. I'm in no hurry--my eating habits have almost totally changed (for the better) in that time, and I hope to keep this going for the rest of my life!

Hi started April 1 2008 and have lost 44 lbs. Most due to calorie counting and part due to a little cardio every day. I found the site to be a treasure of information.

I love CC+. Great group of people here who are always willing to help each other along with advice and encouragement. I'm very satisfied with my progress and this site.

Joined May 30th 2008, starting weight 158 pounds.  So I've been here for about 10 weeks, and I've lost 10 pounds - currently 148.  Since I only wanted to lose about 20 pounds to begin with, I'm pretty happy! :)

I've been on cc since June 15, 2008- almost 2 months.  I started at 146 and I now weigh 134.5 (5'2" female).

I'm very happy with myself but I still want to keep going and try to get myself back into the 120s!!

August 17, 2007 -- started at 210 -- maintaining at 152-155 since April.  I'm not done yet (would like to be 145), and still need to change up my exercise routines, but I'm satisfied with where I'm at.

I'm an emotional/stress eater and have been living a very stressful life since April -- so maintaining is definitely a good thing.  And, I'm 47 years old -- so age does not have to be an issue (not to losing the weight anyway, the skin elasticity is a whole 'nother problem Yell)

May 2007- I started at 340 pounds.  I'm now down to 188 :-)

Hey! Let's see, I started using this site to count calories in June of this year. I wasn't;t really using the tools (which I regret). I just kept my own food log, and used this site to look up calorie information. It's only been recent (about the past 2 or 3 weeks) that I have started using the sites logs, and reading and posting in the forums.

I started at 276lbs, and I'm now 227lbs. Yes, that was a lot of weight to lose in a short period of time. My weight loss has slowed and I'm losing about 2 to 4 pounds a week now. I love this site, and you have the right idea about using the forums for feedback! I wish I would have used it sooner! I think it's so much easier to keep track of the calories you eat here then it is to manual keep the records yourself. I've learned so much from this site, and I know most of us counters wouldn't have gotten this far without it.

If you're really looking to get fit and/or lose weight, my advice to you would be not to neglect exercise! In fact, I think you should try and exercise everyday. One of the main reasons my weight loss has slowed so much is because I'm not exercising like i used to (which I'm trying to change). The pounds will drop faster and you'll feel so much better! Good luck!

Hello, I've been on cc since October, 2007, and have lost 50 lbs!  I recently put on 5-6, and guess what?  I was not logging my foods!  It is so easy to overeat when you can deny just how many calories you are consuming.  So I'm starting back in today, doing some damage control.

-Jack

I started here on May 1 of this year.  I've lost 20 pounds in 3 months (with 80 more to go) and it's been really simple with the help of this site.  I could have lost more by now but I had a few weeks where I opted to eat to maintain instead of lose.

I've been a member since '06 and lost a little over 50lbs in about eight months but kept tracking my food until last november.  Quit smoking........... gained back ten lbs so now I'm back.  Once I loose it I think I will continue to track my food closely at least until after the long depressing Chicago winter.  Good Luck!

I joined CC in March 2008 with a start weight of 207 lbs. Five months later - I'm now down to 177 lbs!!! My goal weight initially was 165 lbs.

I'm going for the gusto now though and I want to be ~150 lbs by Christmas with an OFFICIAL 6-PACK! Wish me luck!Wink

I've been on a strict meal plan since March and CC helps me track my calories, weight loss, and keep realistic goals. It's wonderful!  - Shelly
