How long and how much? People on cc for greater than 60 days, please.

Hey all,

I'd love to get some long term results from folks on their success using cc to lose weight. If you've been using this site for 2 months or longer I'd love to know what your starting weight was, where you are today and if you're satisified or disappointed with you weight loss to date.

Any thoughts and data would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to get an honest gauge on how this site works for people who've committed to it long term.

Plus, it's fun to give people a chance to brag!

Thanks, Soobie

Reason: released from stickiness

I've been on CC for about 5 months and have lost about 35lbs. Slow but sure is the way for me! I have gone on three vacations in that time, when I didn't count at all but tried to make good choices and actually managed to come home a little lighter! My next goal is to be down another 35 by Christmas.

Hi I have been on here since July 30 2008.  I have lost 5 lbs.  feel like I should be losing alot more is it common to get anxious about it?

Hi there!  I've been here since May 23rd.  Since then, I've lost 12 pounds and am 1 pound away from my goal.  I am definitely satisfied, and I'm ahead of schedule on my weight loss!

Returning member here!

Started in late 2006 at 132 lbs. Dropped 16 lbs, to hit and exceed my goal weight of 118 lbs.

Left for a year due to life changes. Now, my life is a bit more settled so am ready to re-evaluate why I feel so unhealthy( which prolly means I am a tad not healthy.)

Back att CC, clocking in at 130 lbs and looking to hit 118 lbs by December (Or, preferably sooner!). Looking good so far. Lost 1.5 lbs in a month, with little change, save for being more aware about caloric intake and trying to move about more.

Looking to get back to a more acceptable level of exercise, so I don't have to stay under 1300 calories a day for much longer! I think CC works because it just makes me more self-aware. Not so much a diet, but a lifestyle change.

Good luck!

I started March 11, 2008 at 185 and am now 166, though I've hit a plateau in the last few weeks.  Logging my food and activities helps me feel more in control and plan better.  I second the comments that it's more of a lifestyle change than a diet--logging calories means that I don't necessarily have to restrict the items that I eat but instead can plan for meals and exercise.  It's a great system if you can stick with it!

I started in January 2008 following my new years resolution at 245lbs.  By the end of April, I was at 205lbs, 40lbs lighter and fairly accurately predicted by the tools here.

The website is based on simple and sound logic (calories in vs. calories burned) and if you record everything correctly and honestly, which is easy given the tools they provide, you will see results.

Not only that, but you learn to eat healthier, since you are now more aware what you're putting into your body.  I spent 6 weeks after April out of the country with limited internet access, so I was unable to use this website during that time.  However, I had picked up a enough good habits and remembered enough to make good choices and continue my weight loss.

HI,

I've been here 11 and a half weeks.

I've lost 24 lbs!

SW 204, CW 180 GW 150 - I'm 53 years old and 6' tall.

I love CC!  I love the tools and I'm enjoying the forums, too. The most valuable thing I've learned so far on this site was how bad it is to eat too few calories and how that is so counter productive.

My history before coming here was loosing weight and then gaining it all back very quickly. Although I never actually counted calories before coming to CC, I am convinced that the reason I had problems in the past was because I ate too little when I would loose weight. I ran out of energy and then started eating too much again. This would cause me to rapidly gain all the lost weight back and more.

So, now I'm really making lifestyle changes and sticking with it. I have plenty of energy and I'm never hungry. I've never stayed this committed for anywhere near this long before. So, I know this is working! I am sure I will reach my goal and be able to keep the weight off forever.

I have some pictures in my gallery of the progress I have made so far.

I've been a CC member since April 14 2007.  I am 26yrs old, 5'7.5" tall.  I started on 4/14/07 at 245lbs.  I weighed in yesterday at 201lbs.  44lbs gone and 26 left to reach my initial goal of 175.  After I reach 175 I will maintain for 6 months then kick it in gear again to reach 145-150 which is where I should be ideally.

I've battled 3-4 plateaus, one of which took about 6 months to beat!

I recently, after reaching the 40lbs lost mark, decided to change my workout routine and have managed to drop these last 4lbs in around 2.5 weeks.

It is suggested that you change your routine every 6-8 weeks.  Your body will adapt to your exercises so it is recommended to switch it up to keep your body guessing.  After a few weeks of doing a certain routine, your body will figure out a way to do the same routine while burning less calories than when you first started a routine, that's why some get discouraged thinking they're working so hard and see no results and then give up.

My advise, eat fresh and healthy, lots of water, keep your body guessing by changing your routines every 2 months or so and whatever you do DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!  You did not gain the excess weight overnight and you will not lose it overnight.

Also - forget the idea of a magical pill to make it all go away.  The best and healthiest way to lose is by hard work and eating right.  Trust me, you will feel SOOOOO much better at the end of your journey knowing you worked for it.

I am more than willing to answer any questions that any newbies may have, feel free to message me! :)

Good luck, all!!!

I was a lurker for a while. I started reading when I started the gym on October 1st, 2007. So 11 and 1/2 months I have been at it.

I am 24yr old male, 5'10" tall.

I have lost 81 pounds.

10/01/07 - 218

 8/14/08 - 137

I never had to deal with a Plateau. Everytime I had a slow week I just added more cardio and reduced cals. It was a lot of work and tough not to break and have cheat days but I can easily say it was all worth it and wish I did this 5 years ago.

My advice is really just stay focused and dont give in. I always hear people say feel free to have cheat days or you will end up binging. While for some thats true it doesnt have to be like that. I have been craving cookies for a year yet I still havent had one. If you are commited the cravings pass and over time you don't crave the junk food nearly as much. I look forward to my dry salad as much as I used to look forward to a big burger.

I will have been here two years this November.  I started at 164 and I am now 139.  I love it here!

I have to be honest I have gone up and down several times over the 21 months.  But the highest I have gotten is 150 and the lowest that I have been is 135.  But because of this site, I am getting better and better about habits and controlling a more constant weight.

This is my first summer in the past three that I maintained my weight instead of gaining (this is a major feet for me, since summer is my best season for gaining weight!)

I started counting calories a few months b4 I found this site and lost about 10 lbs. I came to CC Aug of 2007 and I started at 240 lbs after a year I am 188 lbs. I could not be happier, since I started on my weight loss quest I have lost over 70lbs. I have not had any dramatic weight loss in a few months but I have maintained. I am trying to loose 10 more lbs, so I have really stepped up logging all my food and making sure I work out 5 days a week. I bought my first swimsuit in I dont know how many years, I am actually heading to the pool to do some laps after this! I recommend this site to everyone who askes about my weight loss, but I dont think anyone has really used it. Their loss or well I guess it wont be ~ lol

I've been using the site for 7 months now though I only got a profile today!

I started at 255.4lbs at the end of Jan 08 and weighed in at 201 this morning.  Only a couple more to go to get out of the 2 hundreds for good   I definitely use this site as a tool to moderate my eating and it's been the real key.  That and getting a new puppy to chase around and go for walk with has really upped my activity level too.

I'm really pleased with how things have gone so far -- fads or really low cal diets were my past foes so I'm glad I'm learning to do this properly.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

I think that I've been on here for about a yr, but for the past 5 months haven't done anything due to a broken ankle.

When I started here in Apr 2007 I was 222.4 lbs, and was down to 196 in Oct 2007, with another 46 lbs to go. By Feb 2008 I was back up to 199.6, now I'm at 210. I'm still sitting here with a 12 lb loss. And I'm getting back into the swing of things, so hopefully will be losing some more real soon!

My second month is over so I can officially post here. I have lost 13 pounds, have great success fighting off the chocolate monster and midnight trips to the fridge.

When I joined I weighed 118 pounds, my face was a size of a dinner plate :)

I was a brief member back in 2006 but didn't stay, but came back in April of this year, April 28th, and weighed in at 252 pounds now i weigh 230 as of this a.m.  I have lost 22 pounds since April.  There were months though i really wasn't into counting so i could have lost more if i had of been serious all this time!! But now i am trying to keep my focus on the main prize to be under 200 soon!! So yes, this place is great and it keeps me focused and the support here is terrific!! I couldn't have done it without CC!! (ok and a little will power) LOL

Started aprox 1 yr ago.

Went from 140 to 115 in 3 months.  I still log into CC everyday & get calorie info for food that I don't already have written down in my journal.

Hello,

I have been using cc since April 24, 2008 at a starting weight of 310 lbs. As of today August 19, 2008 I am at 244 lbs. 66 lbs gone and counting, cc is the only reason that I have been able to do so well. I have tried other diets and diet programs but this is what seems to work for me. I find it it very easy to log the foods that I eat and it doesn't take a lot of time to do. CC in my opinion is pretty much burden free and I look forward to seeing how many calories I consume each night when I input my data.

Take care and lets give three cheers for  cc!!!!!

Wow!  That's a huge accomplishment.  Keep up the good work!

I think Calorie Count is great! It really gives you the tools you need to learn how to lose and maintain your weight forever as opposed to quick-fixes and short-term losses. And I can't believe it's really FREE! I came here after trying Weight Watchers (which is BS by the way) and I enjoy it and get much more out of it than I did WW. I really love how it scores foods on a A,B,C,D, and F scale. It teaches you what you should eat to live a happier, healthier life!

I've been on Calorie Count for about a year now, and I've lost forty pounds: from 200 lbs to 159 lbs. I've been in maintenence for three months now, mostly because with my schedule I haven't been able to excercise as much as I've wanted, and I wanted to test that I could indeed maintain my weight. I plan on losing another ten pounds; CC has really helped me think about what I'm eating and helped me realize that even though I was generally eating healthy foods, I was drastically over-eating without realizing it.
