A long road ahead...we're talkin 100lbs. folks!
Hey there!
I just joined CC about three weeks ago and I thought I had lost about 5 or 6 lbs. but got on the scale for the first time Saturday since registering and it turns out I lost 13 lbs.!!! Was initially ecstatic, but now it's Monday and I'm at work and over-ate on the weekend and am thinking about how, in the grand scheme of things ( I have to lose about 100 more lbs.), 13 lbs. isn't very much and beginning to feel discouraged.
Cane anyone relate? Have any words of wisdom or advice? I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have lost a lot of weight already or have lost as much as I have to lose.
I totally agree with Suzieqiniadaho...I think I got derailed in past attempts b/c I focused on the "big" number (which only continued to get bigger and bigger!) This time I started off needing to lose 90 pounds / maybe 95 - if I thought about the reality of that, I think I would have frozen up in fear. Now I'm over 2/3 of the way there. Having 'mini goals' and totally blocking out the big number has really helped.
I celebrate many many many little milestone (every 2-3 pounds, mixed up between reaching percentage loss goals, fitting into new sizes, physical achievements). Sometimes the reward is something cheap, like downloading a few new Itunes for running, some are taking update photos to track and see the real progress, other times its just a big internal happy dance and reminding myself to be proud. (I never do food as a reward - don't think that will help the emotional mindset that needs to adapt.)
Now go majorly celebrate the fact that you are 10%...soon to be 15% there!!
