How long should I stay on the treadmill....
incidentally, the treadmill always says i'm burning 250-300 calories, which may be true, but i log the lower numbers here on CC because they sound more in line with the level of exertion i feel like i'm putting in. i have read that walking 12-15 minutes will burn 100 calories, so maybe it is closer to 250-300.
The treadmill always says I burn around 650-700 calories but I wear a heart rate monitor also and it usually gives me about 500-525 calories burned. I always go with the hr monitor.
Then I do 10 mins either cross training or rowning at moderate intensity.
I do this 2 - 3 times a week, on the other days I just try to incorporate some walking into my daily lifestyle.
5 min - warm up
20 minutes - running
5 min - cool down
OR
5 min - warm up
10 minute - walk on incline
20 minutes - running
5 min - cool down
The time varies from day to day but it is always under 45 minutes.
I normally burn anywhere from 600-650 calories a run.
My gym owner says that it is not appropriate to run on a treadmill for more than 10 minutes(15 at the most). I got to know about a 30 minute running programme which I started along with other cardiovascular exercises and aerobics or strching etc . I work out on cross trainer for about 10 minutes and do cycling also for almost the same time. I used to do about 10 minutes of brisk walk at 6 kmph n 5-8 min of running at 8kmph. But then on my instructor's insistence i reduced the running time to 5 min & brisk walk for 4-5 minutes. He says that I should walk & run on alternate days since the treadmills cause a harmful impact on kness. I do hv pain in my knees but if I take a break for a day or two it is all fine. I exercise for almost 2 hours everyday but I find runing & walking really helpful in my weight loss. I still need to reduce at least 4 kgs. I want to know if should further reduce workout on treadmill. And does it make difference if you take support of the arms while running on treadmill or you run slower but without support?
I keep my treadmill session short, but very intense. No more than 10mins.
The hardest thing to overcome on a treadmill is the boredom! I don't know how people can spend an hour on them!
30-60 varying between 2.5-3.5. Whatever pace song is in the mp3 determines my speed. 2-3x per week
On days that I do circuit training (one so far haha) I walk 20 minutes afterwards. 2x week (went yesterday upper, going tomorrow for lower)
