Hi guys,

I'm on my third week & as of yesterday morning I had went from 174, to 168. I'm happy, but wondering when am I going to start seeing results or feel a difference in my clothes? I'm thinking maybe ten more pounds and someone will notice, or maybe 15 or 20 i really don't know. This is the longest Ive ever stuck with something & I'm hoping to see something soon so I dint give up!

thanks all =]

YAY2U! Gratz! ^_^b
gemini, how tall are you and what size are you wearing?

I think the larger sized clothes are more ample, so it takes more of a weight loss to go down a size.

but stick with it, cause you've already off to a very good start!!!
Im 5'1 and either wear 12 or 14 in women's depending... and 13 in juniors

thanks for the replies so far =]
TO be honest Geminik88 I am down 50 from where I started and I didn't notice a difference until I bought some new clothes. I was losing the weight at about 1.5-2lb a week and it was slow enough that I didn't notice how much I had lost until I went shopping last weekend and had to ask the sales lady to go back twice for a smaller pair of jeans.

I felt different though. I had more energy, and was less winded. I did notice that my clothes weren't tight anymore and I eventually noticed that they were a bit too baggy. Not seeing a drastic physical change was a bit frustrating and I convinced myself more than once that I wasn't actually losing anything. Good thing I took measurements with a tape measure and kept a log because they were proof that I was in fact shrinking :)

I think what I'm trying to get at is if you lose weight the safe gradual way...and are as oblivious as I am...you may not see a difference until you take measurements or try on a new outfit, and then you will surprised at how much you lost.
Two other things ive noticed :

(1) the people who are around you often are accustomed to seeing you regularly, so they may not necessarily notice much change. Ive lost 15 pounds, and im pretty sure the majority of my friends are oblivious.

(2) Alot of times, people cover up the areas they dont want people to see. For example, if you are constantly wearing baggy sweatshirts it may  be harder for people to notice the weight loss.

I hope that makes sense.

Keep up the good work, and keep in mind, it doesnt matter how they see you, it matters how you see yourself.

thanks guys so much!! =]

it helps so much to have this site as support! I dont think I could do it without this place
Wow - that's awesome!! What's your typical meal plan?
gemini

You should start taking measurements every other week or something and log it in your journal.  It is so difficult to see changes in your self, so by taking measurements, you going to see actual changes.  I was so amazed the first time i took measurements (i think i was down 20 lbs) and it showed I lost 5 INCHES from my waist.  I did not visually think I changed that much.  Now i do it every other or every few weeks to remind myself that changes I have made are working.

congrats on all your sucess so far

sometimes a person just has to accept when they are fat, its a hard things sometimes, but there are always gonna be fat people, its ok.
what kind of comment is that? ballsmcgee?
ive lost over 35 lbs...i dont really see it. i can tell because pants are looser or stuff like that but i truly dont see a difference.  was also severely overweight 35lbs ago ya know...so i figure i wont start to notice till i get closer to a healthier weight...my grandmother thinks ive lost weight i think shes crazy lol. i mean i know i have technically but im still waiting for me to look in the mirror and go...OH MY GOD.

--btw ignore posts that are rude or confusing or whatever, fighting on the forums just isn't worth it.--
Geminik88 I began working out at the beginning of this year and after a month of working out people began saying to me OH MY GOD you have lost weight! I can tell in your face but I didn't feel like I had lost weight. I kept looking at myself in the mirror and saying I can't tell I've lost weight I still feel and look the same...lol. It wasn't until almost six months down the road when I put on one of my favorite skirts that I hadn't been able to wear it actually fit that I said OH MY GOD I'VE LOST WEIGHT! LOL.

So just keep doing what you doing because you may not see the results but believe me others see the results.

Dont' worry about it you'll be doing something one day and have that OH MY GOD moment like we all have had soon.

why should someone accept being fat?  Are you saying there's NOTHING that can be done to change the weight, or that it is not necessary to try?

gemini -- I agree with others, it will take people a while to notice, but keep on trucking --
ballsmcgee is an insignificant troll who's pleasure in life is derived from making people he/she doesn't know feel badly.

"Ignore him" is absolutely the best thing to do. :)

Gem, you're doing great!!! Sometimes you just need to switch things up a little to see your change.. :)
