No longer overweight!
When I started trying to lose weight, I weighed 152, which at only 5'3" had me in the overweight range. I had always been lean before I had my babies, so it was very hard for me to accept the fact that I was a bit too heavy. It also concerns me--there is a lot of diabetes on both sides of my family, even among people who are hardly overweight. So I knew that I had to take the problem seriously before it got worse.
After several months of trying to lose weight with no success, I started counting calories, and immediately starting seeing results. 10 weeks later, I am now down to 138 pounds--which is in the 'healthy weight' zone.
I am not done yet; I would like to get all the way back down in the low 120s, where I was when I got married. But to me, getting to the point where it is more about vanity and no longer an issue of health feels very good.
Thanks for adding me as a friend!
I'm with you on this one! I was 153 six weeks ago, and now I'm 135, and feeling a lot more like myself. After a couple of kids, it's hard to think back on how "skinny" I was back when I got married almost 7 years ago. Up until spring of last year, I managed to whittle down to 126 lbs, but ta-dah, got pregnant again, and now I'm trying to work myself back to that weight, and then some (if I can get to pre-pregnancy size prior to DS#! that would be fantastic!).
But trying to keep things realistic. If I can lose a bit more of the tire I have, I'll be happy. My pants are fitting better and my t-shirts don't look like they're hiding something.
Keep up the great work! Before long, we'll both be putting this issue behind us!
that's so awesome- congrats! ... i'm almost there, too.... i cant wait to see "healthy weight" someday soon when i use the BMI tool ![]()
Hey congrats! And we have the exact same stats. I started at 153 on May 11th and as of Monday weighed in at 137.4. I'm also 5'3. It's a great feeling to break the overweight mark. Good luck hitting your goal!!
Congratulations on making it to the healthy BMI range. I hit healthy BMI a month ago at the beginning of June. It feels good doesn't it? A real sense of accomplishment. I'm down to the lower 130's now and aiming for 126. Good luck to you!
what an awesome feeling! i remember it well. :D
congrats!!! Woohoo!!!
I had the same feeling as well when the BMI scale told me I'm no longer obese. At 201 I'm obese but at 187 (what I am now) I'm just overweight.
I'm gonna have to agree with you it's a good feeling when you go down one category. Hopefully soon I can say I'm no longer overweight just like you peeps. :)
Only 15 more pounds to go for that.
