Hi there, I don't mean to be rude, but I am sure this isn't going to come out right... lots of folks here can't do the math that 80.5 kg equal 177.47 lbs. If in the future you can provide the conversion, that would be great. It is really easy to do, just type, "80.5 kg to lbs" in Google and it will give you the answer! You actual can do that for any conversion. Liters to ounces, ounces to grams... such a handy tool.
funny, you don't look 70... i'm kidding, i reread your post, and i get it now... try bumping your cals up for a day or two, then dropping them back down. it really does work! sometimes we need to throw our bodies for a loop, shake things up a bit! good luck to you, you'll find your way out!
ix - gee, and I use a calculator...

As a Canadian, I may not have a feel for people's weights in kilograms but I know that 80kg is suitable for a human but not an automobile. Most Americans wouldn't... (duck!)

hey ix.

You are right, I forgot to convert them really, I did it in one of my first post, but I completly forgot to do it now .

I dont get much of a clear picture when someone talks in pounds, I have to convert it to kg to get the "feel of peoples wieght".

Meljo. Thats what I have been trying this past week since I joined cc. and I find it helping more for weight loss. thanks:)

Samah51, I understand what you are saying. Just most of the community here talks in pounds. When you start talking kilograms, you start losing people. =) I posted a lot of good information all in one thread, you are welcome to check it and and maybe pick up something that might help you out. http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/8532 .html
At the risk of being accused of being a rabble rouser I'm really happy that you made your post in Kg. I've been converting from metric to American since I got here and I've slowly been moving away from that. We've got well over 150 Canadian members some from Australia, Europe and UK. Metric is the system that the entire world uses except for the Americans.

Whenever I read someone elses post I have to get out my calculator, do the conversion, I don't anwer a lot of the more number oriented posts because the owness is placed on me to adopt the American measurement system. I stay away from the recipe board completely.... I have never figured out this fluid oz thing in three years... you think it would stick... but it hasn't.... I like Liters and milliliters.... grams.... kilograms!!!!

Long live the metric system!!!!

Okay, sorry to all my American friends for that rant. I realize that we have grown up with two different math systems. But it is really frustration for me as a younger Canadian the American system hasn't even been taught in out schools since my mother was a student. It's like having to learn an entire second language to keep up with a lot of that stuff. Erik and Igor have been kind enough to provide metric options on these tools so that those of us using metric can measure our food that way etc....

There are a few posts that show conversion charts.... I'll edit this message in a bit and post them. But I think we should recognize that it's not a bad thing for someone who has grown up and always used metric to keep using metric. Diversity can be good!

I'm all for people posting their weights in whatever format just makes sense to them.

We can all use google too :) It shouldn't be up to the poster to do so! :)
Werd, it is the WORLD wide web.  I think I'm gonna start posting my weight in stones!!
i am an american who favors a move to the metric system. it was attempted years ago, but unfortunately, only the beverage industry and, i think, the auto industry made the change.  we have metric money, why not all our measurements???  it so makes sense. i have used lb and oz for nearly 60 years, and i'm STILL confused by it!!!  but we all seem to have no problem with the half liter (litre), pop (soda) that we buy.    yes, i think we should accept whatever units people post.  i will try to figure out a stone, and a kg, myself, whenever i am inclined to do that.  so don't worry about it, samah.
Stones it is! I acutally love the reference I don't know how the term originated but I just picture this 15lb stone dropping off my body. :)
Well, I'm going to start posting my weights in Newtons! >:D

Hey check it out, I'm 1207.25 Newtons and I NEED to be 889.64

Well that puts it ALL into perspective!
fig newtons?

;)
No. Strawberry Newtons. They're tastier ;D
you guys are totally nuts!!! i love it!
Did you know that 1 serving of fig newtons is only 2 cookies?  Who eats only 2 cookies???
i know, finewine, and that's 90 calories (for the fat free ones anyway)!! and by the way, my MIL eats only two everyday!
I so agree! Bring on the metric system anyone who wants to. Personally, I tend to think in kilos but have lived in the UK for 3 years so that I now also know my weight in stone. My typical weigh in goes: Check the weight on boyfriend scale which only gives me pounds, then rush to the next internet and write down the pounds, then google what it is in kilos, then be happy or sad, then work out the weight in stone. It's ever so slightly mental!

I usually provide 2 units in my forum posts, but anything on my profile is in kilos. My ticker definitely is, and it comes with a note above it. OF COURSE I don't want to hunger down to 77 lbs - duh!

samah51: WELL DONE! I so know what it's like hoping to get into the next kilo decade, hope you hit the 79 next week. My personal goal for 2006 is to get to 75, and it's my first time under 90 in more than 7 years!
Here's a handy online converter.  It's very easy to use.  I do wish the USA would join the rest of the world and go metric.  I don't know what the big fuss is about.  Metric is more precise and easier to deal with.

http://www.metric-conversions.org/weight-conv ersion.htm
The big fuss, claire, is that you have 300 million people here...and roughly half of them cannot even understand STANDARD measurements, let alone metric.  I worked at a grocery store...I've seen tons of people who don't know that 8 ounces is 1/2 lb.  I wouldn't mind switching, but some people aren't as open minded.  Americans are stubborn...we need a gradual change!  Start getting us to use metrics without us knowing it.
not only that---the whole medical and scientific community is metric.   our nutritional labels are almost completely metric, and i think all our speedometers now have it both ways.    sooooo, let's just rid of "miles per hour" while we're at it.  besides, i feel like i'm going faster when i can go 100 instead of 60!!! (we live on the border with canada.)
