Looking for book recommendations....
I love to read. In fact I have gone thru 2 books in 3 days (I have a 35min train ride to/from work.. and love to read every night in bed).
I am sick of buying books because I speed thru them too fast. Was going to pop down to the local library and get out a few.
Looking for some suggestions.
Background on what I like - sad but true... I like all the crime books. James Patterson, Stuart Woods, Patricia Cornwell - read them all. I recently have gotten in Jeffrey Deaver and like him but haven't read them all.
I love the James Frey books - just read his new one and liked it. Loved the kite runner and thousand splendid suns.
I really just like to read - so will try anything! Hit me with some of your favs.
How ironic, I just made this recommendation in today's Chat: if you've not read any books by Chuck Palahniuk, I strongly suggest you try Fight Club and Choke to begin with. Disturbing stuff, black humour - but brilliant.
And, ah. If you've not read the Dexter series, I suggest those, too! So many people I know tell me they love the TV show, and when I say "Have you read the books?"
"What books?"
/facepalm
Christpher Moore books are awesome
Have you read any Dean Kootz...the Odd Thomas series is the best.
How about Janet Evanovich? Set in Trento NJ (I now live 10 minutes away, so find them more interesting:))

I 2nd that - a lot of people who don't know better think he's a "horror" writer, and it's just not true. He's a little difficult to classify. Maybe sci-fi would be better, but then people think space aliens & stuff. Anyway, my fave is Watchers, about a genetically engineered super intelligent dog, the "creature" also engineered that's stalking him and the people the dog adopted. 2nd fave is the Odd Thomas series, though I was a little disappointed in the most recent. Then Twilight Eyes, then Light of the Moon (I WANT A SEQUEL!)
And have you read the Michael Crighton books?
Go to www.goodreads.com and join! I am an avid reader and this site will keep you occupied for hours with a community of bibliophiles!
Jeffrey Deaver rocks !! Greg Iles is amazing, and i really enjoy Tami Hoag too =)
And ofcourse classic Steven King =)
Hope that helps a little.

I love reading too. some of my favorites would be
middlesex, just recently read this
anything by Tom Robbins, he's kind of wacky, similar to Kurt Vonnegut who I also really like
clockwork orange
anything by Faulkner, classics and usually most people I recommend this to end up confused :\ but i love him!
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and Everything is Illuminated
Barbara Kingsolver
tons more I'm sure that I cant think of off the top of my head. I don't read many crime novels but my mom actually read almost all of the Agatha Christie books while learning english and she loves them.
charlie- I'm going to that site, thanks!
Chuck Palahniuk has some good reads.

I love Dean Koontz too! I read anything I can get my hands on by him. I agree that the books are really hard to classify because they are all so different. I just love his style of writing. Once I start reading a novel by him, I cant put it down. This is why I can only buy his novels when Im not in school, because I would spend all my time reading the novel and not any textbooks. Now if only Dean Koontz would start writing my textbooks, I would be in heaven. LOL
The Sleeping Doll by Jeffrey Deaver, the Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, The Shack by William Young.
I love reading and like all kinds of books. Here are a few I have enjoyed recently.
Sleeping Doll is a crime mystery with a female detective/psychologist who is adept at reading body language.
The Historian is a thick book, an unusual vampire story that crosses generations of vampire hunters who are historians.
The Shack is an unusual but inspirational story. Man whose 6 yr. old daughter was kidnapped and presumed murdered (never found)3 years ago goes back to the shack where her bloody dress was found. There he has a meeting with God.
i recommend the Harry Potter Books!!!!
i really loved Dean Koontz "False Memory" have u ever read "The Bachmen Books" writen by Stephen King under the name "Richard Bachmen" ( I think im spelling the last night correct)
