Looking for Brides Getting Married This Year to Lose Weight With!

Quote  |  Reply
Hi All!  I actually started this topic because I looked at another topic and noticed there were many women out there trying to lose weight for their weddings.  Just wanted to see if anyone was interested in doing a wedding only motivation group.  I'm 29, turn 30 in May, and am getting married July 19, 2008. My saying this year is I want to lose 30 pounds by May 30th, which is my 30th b-day! =)  I'm to the point where I'm going to try calorie counting because I've tried everything else.  The most successful for me has been Atkins, but gained it all back and then some!  Anywhos... this is new for me.  Trying to get the fiance in on it too... Although he doesn't really have weight to lose, just some toning up! =)  Hard to believe how much a couple can gain together.  Such a bummer that  food tends to be our entertainment and going out to eat is the thing to so together.  I started last week and lost 7.4 pounds!  I know only water...we will see what happens this week.  Anywhos...just looking for support and motivation. I have my fiance, sometimes our men just don't get it! =)  He said last week (while getting annoyed with my measuring cups), "Does it really matter that you count every litte thing?"  This made me pop off and say how he doesn't support me and how it does matter, and blah, blah, blah!  Okay...I've typed enough!  Also...how are the wedding plans coming??? =)

Hey! I need to lose 10-13 pounds before my October wedding! I'm in. I eat fairly healthy but I can't get motivated to exercise.

Hey kristabeth!  Congrats... and October wedding!  You have a lot of time, but from your picture you don't look like you need to lose any!  I know how it is though.. people can always say that...but, it is how you feel about yourself, not what anyone else thinks!

At least you have the eating heatlhy down!  You have half the problem covered!  I'm needed help with both! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE food!

Okay, so what do we do now?? I'm new to this whole forum!

People always tell me that I don't need to lose weight but, you're right, it's how I feel about my body. I adore food, too, but I love healthy food and I love to cook. I mean, I could be a little more careful but I don't go overboard. I'm new too so I don't know where we start but maybe we can begin by holding eachother accountable. Let's weigh in together and write down what we eat every day. It helps me to actually see it written down. How does that sound?

qtmisshunt - We are wedding date buddies!  I am also getting married 7.19.08.

This is the first time I have participated in a forum - i have thought about it before and when I saw we were date twins, I figured it must be fate, time for me to reply!

We have exactly 6 months and 1 day to go before the wedding.  I have a countdown clock on my computer and instead of motivating me, it's stressing me out.  I have 60lbs left to lose - although at this point I'd be fine with 30 to 40.  I have a personal trainer twice a week and try to go to the gym on my own a couple of times but I am learning that since I have been doing that for 3-4 months now and only lost 15lbs, it's all about the food.  It's all about the calories in vs. calories out.  And the main issue is to get whatever I want off my body with at least 2 months to spare for alterations.  Unless I can find some crazy seamstress willing to alter my dress 3 weeks before the wedding.

kristabeth - sounds like you are on the right track and have plenty of time to lose the weight.  Good luck - you'll look amazing in your dress.

Here are my thoughts about wedding weight - if the caterer sucks, it's not my fault, if the limo breaks down, it's not my fault, but if for one second on my wedding day I become dissapointed in myself that I didn't get it together and lose some weight so I'd feel free to smile at every camera and boogie down on the dance floor without thinking anyone is looking at me funny - that's totally my fault.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Ladies!  Thanks for posting replies!  Pretty cool!

Kristabeth...I like your idea...it is such a good idea that I am already doing it!  That is how I foundt his website!  I record all my food online here as well as my workouts, but I don't really pay much attention to the burn meter... You never really know how much calories you are burning.  Like NYC said, calories in, calories out!  That is so great you like to cook.. Any HEALTHY recipes would be appreciated if you want to help me in that area!  I especially like to do things with chicken breast, but it has to be low calorie... I'm being pretty anal as I've only been doing this for 16 days!  How did your last week go?  DId you lose any??  Remember, since you have so little to lose, it will be awhile... look more at how you look in your clothes!

NYCbride.. thanks for joining.  Whoa, you are the first person that has contacted me that has the same wedding date as me!!  Pretty cool!  Congrats!  Lol..I have a countdown clock on my computer as well... on my myspace.  I also put a countdown of my pounds on my myspace.  NOT showing the weight, just the pounds.  That way it makes me accountable and I know everyone can see it!  Be   That is so great that you have a personal trainer!!!  I wish so bad that I had the money for that!  I love watching biggest loser and need a bob or jillian!  I'm sure that the trainer will totally help you get the weight loss going.  Don't forget to be happy with what you have done so far!  15 pounds is great!  Also, remember since you are trying to mostly only get weight off to do A LOT of cardio. I'm talking like an hour a day.  If you do machines... do 15-20 on one, switch, switch..makes time go by so much quicker... because I totally get bored!  Alterations...yeah...i thought of that..I am worried to! What a bummer...I don't know what to say for this situation.  One can lose like another 5 pounds even in 2 months... which can reflect the size of the dress! AHHH!!  I think my biggest this will to be to work on my arms.. as the dress already closes and people won't really be able to see my body!  Arms, arms, arms... and collor bones!  What are you doing right now eating wise to lose the weight?  Counting calories?  How much cardio are you getting in per day?

I like you thinking about yourself on your wedding day!  Funny, I was just discussing with other teachers at my school how this is the one time I am going to get married, ONE DAY... and I'm going to "suffer" 6 months to get my body the best it has ever looked.  Why not???  All you will have are pictures and video!

Good luck to you!

To both ladies... WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey ladies...sounds like mine is the soonest. My wedding is May 10, 2008 and I have 115 days to go. I have lost 10 pounds and still would like to see 20 more leave forever. I am watching my food and exercising.

It would be great to have support in staying motivated and friends to talk about the wedding stress!
Hi Everybody!!

I am getting married August 16, 2008 - and am DEFINITELY working to be a healthier, more beautiful bride :)

I reserved our limo today - wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

"diet" wise, I'm feeling kind of blah - I've kind of stalled at 235 for the past month or so - but at least I didn't gain too much over the holidays, I guess.

We CAN do this!!!
I am getting married June 21, 2008...would love to have dropped 30 lbs by then, but I will take whatever loss I can get!!! I warn ya all though, I need a lot of motivation! LOL Count me in if ya got room for another wife to be!

Yay - we've got quite a group going!  Good luck to everyone.

As much as I am putting all this pressure on myself related to my wedding day, I have to say that I would just love to be thin for everyday life.  I was hoping a day of all eyes on me all the time would be the proper motivation to scare me into actually losing the weight I have been trying to lose since I was a teenager.  Regardless of my wedding day or whatever, I just want to be thinner.  So I am hoping that I accomplish this goal and then more importantly KEEP IT UP!  Even after the wedding.

As for what I have been doing - I started cooking all my meals on sunday and packaging them up based on weight and amount.  So when I get home from the gym at 7:30/8pm I can just pop something into the microwave and not even think about takeout.  I also have a spacious fridge in my office that no one really uses so I carry all the lunch food in on monday and put it in the fridge for the week.  This week was bad as there were 2 (yes 2!!!) free company lunch days and I must admit the amount of lasagna I ate was insane.

I am trying to stick between 1200 and 1400.  And I have sworn off alcohol (maybe a glass of wine once in a while) cause when I drink a few all the sudden I think I am starving - even though I probably ate dinner 3 hours earlier - and decide that pizza at 1am is just what I need before bed.

I can afford the trainer because I bought a package (which made the sessions 20% less) and put it on an interest free credit card that I am paying back each month before the interest kicks in.  Also - I find that Step classes are my best bet at sustaining 45-60 minutes of working out at a high level, since I think more about the steps then the fact that I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and trying to steal all my air from me.

I know that what I say I do (1200 cals and 4 days at the gym with 2 training session) should result in weight loss.  It's inevitable.  I just need to make the written version and the actual version be the same (it's way harder than it sounds!)

What's everyone else doing to get themselves in shape?  Anyone having a good or bad food day?

Hey Brides to be

Can I join, i'm getting married on October the 12th this year with 20 pounds to lose. Could really do with the help to keep me on track for the big day. Only been doing this for two weeks but feeling better already.

This is great idea.

Okay - so it looks like we got a crew here!

This is what I suggest.  Let's post every monday how we did the past week, successes (and failures), ideas for others (recipes, healthy snacks, etc) and just words of encouragement.

We've got qtmisshunt, kristabeth, tootsiegirl579, tygrkat, kpooh68, sasse and laineyq lined up and if anyone else joins, they can check in on mondays too.

Let me know what you all think!

Sounds great count me in.

I'm in! I just got back from NY. I ate like a pro! Minus the NY pizza, of course. I guess it's time to break down and get a scale. What kind of excercising are you girls doing?
Count me in also!  My wedding is June 21st too :)

Hi there!

Im also getting married. Probably in Jan or Feb 2009. Im from New Zealand so it will be summer here then. Im looking to lose about 20kgs which i think is about 45lb.

Its summer here now so I am trying to get a hold of a bike so I can bike to work and home again. And get some of my exercise out of the way!

Hi everyone!! I hope there is room in the group for me.

I am getting married October 18th, 2008. I need to lose about 60 pounds, but if I could lose more than that I'd be thrilled. I am an exercise lover, but the eating is what gets me. I love food!!  I do spinning 3 days a week, lift weights 3 days a week, and try to get in a 1-2 mile run every day. I just really need to get a handle on my diet. NO MORE PIZZA!!!

What does everybody's dress look like?

Ha! Pizza is evil!

<> I haventeven been dress shopping yet. I have decided to wait until Im half way to my goal weight before I try anything on.

<> What is yours like?
If you look at my profile you can look at my dress. It is strapless with a sweetheart neck line. It has pink embroidery down the front and back. Hard to explain but I love it...
Tootsiegirl, your dress is beautiful!!! I'm sure it will look fabulous
