oh hey ... here something that will make you guys snicker ....

i had such horrible craving last night for chocolate brownies ... that i decided to make some .. well i kinda felt guilty about wanting them but did it anyways ... but heres the sad/funny thing about it ... i put them into bake .. just thinking how great they would taste once they're done and how bad they would be for me .. lol .. well admist my thinking i forgot about the time ... and they turned into hockey pucks ... so in the end i had no brownies for my craving and no guilt from eating them .. lol ....

all good now .,... no cravings left ... lmao

cheers

Don't you just hate it when that happens!!  LOL  Laughing  Did you at least play hockey with them?  Smile  I am actually doing so well with my calorie intake that I will get to eat a few cookies tonight.  I am proud of myself for keeping up with this so well this week.  I hope it continues.  Thanks again for letting me post everyone!!

Kate

Hi All~

Welcome everyone.

Sam, you are doing AWESOME!!!!  Way to go!!!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing GREAT!!!!!  Sounds like we are all being faced with obsticles and tackling them head on. . . . .from Girl Scout fundraisers to hockey puck brownies.  LOLOLOLOL

My new favorite:  Orville Reddenbocker (sp?) 100 calorie packs of Kettle Corn.  Just a little bit sweet and it just seems like a lot of food for 100 calories.  I recommend giving it a try for snack.

POLL:  Have you exercised today?

Keep up the good work everyone!

Heather

hey all Smile...

actually i am just about to do my workout ... lol ... looks like we have a blizzard coming in so i wont get to go for my walk today ... guess i will just jump rope inside (burns more calories anyways .. but my toes take a beating ..Embarassed) lol ... my cal intake (not calling it a diet or i wont stick to it) usually allows me to have a fudgsicle a night .. lol ..(they're western family fudgsicle only 70 cals per pop so i am very happy about that) ... hehehe ...

cheers all ... catch ya tonight

shawna

Hi everybody!

I just got home from work and I'm tired and hungry.  I have GSC too!  My 10 yr. old DD was hungry on the way home from school so I passed back an unopened tube of thin mints.  I forgot that I have them to her and she ate abt. 2/3 of the tube before I remembered that she had them!  Oh well, she's a skinny minny anyway!  GSC's do freeze well.  My 5yr. old is asking about supper so I'll catch you all later.

BTW - you can call me Amy.  I'm curly pirate because of naturally curly hair that I occasionally tame and the pirate b/c I'm an East Carolina Univ. pirate!

Congratulations, now you have FRIENDS!!!!

Welcome Gladys!!  Please tell us more about this challenge.

SHAWNA!!!!!  You are down seven pounds in one week?!?!  Must have been the extra workout you got in yesterday!!!!  So happy for you that bf is back.  How long will he be home?  We're not going to let you slack off too much ya know.  You gotta come chat every day AND log your activities and food!!!!  You are so awesome -- seven pounds is amazing!!!!!  Tell me again how many cals your eating per day.  I know you work out every day (I think you said 13 on and then 1 day off).  YEA!  YEA!  YEA!

I feel motivated to try and catch up to you!!!

Kate, so happy to hear your workout clothes were loose!  That must have been a great feeling.  Wishing you luck at weigh in.

I just went and weighed because y'all motivate me, but scale hasn't budged.  Maybe because it's 9:30 pm and my original weigh in was first thing in the morning.  It's okay.  It hasn't been a full week til Monday.

(((((congratulatory hugs)))))

Heather

Good Morning All,

Brag time!! Laughing  I had a great day yesterday.  Therefore I had a great feeling about this mornings weigh-in.  My first big week back to counting calories has given me a 4.5 lb loss.  Yea!!!  It isn't 7 lb but it works for me.  It would be better if my bf was as excited as I am.  My rant starts now.  This is why I have to turned to you guys for support, not that that is a bad thing.  The bf's comment this morning when I told him about the loss was, if you keep lossing weight we won't be able to find you.  That just makes me feel like it isn't worth it.  Men drive me crazy!!  He wouldn't notice if I came home with my head shaved let alone a tighter tummy.  Ranting done!!  I am still happy for myself.  My mommy will be excited with me.  So ha bf!!  I hope you all have a great day.

Heather, Good luck on having a great weekend for a Monday weigh-in.

Shawn, Heather is right, we are not letting you slack much with the bf home.  Smile

Kate

Hello, me again.  I have been sitting here thinking of how I can really keep this loss going and I need help.  I am by nature a very lazy person.  I do love the outdoors and I will take my baby for a walk if it is warm.  Today will be in the 70's but it will be 37 and snowing by Monday.  Needless to say, I will walk with her tonight but will hibernate the rest of the weekend.  I do have a home gym that I do use a lot only because it is not lubed go, so nothing on it moves smoothly.  I feel I am hurting myself more than helping.  I also have small free weights and a gazelle (cheap elipical).  To be honest I will not get in there everyday.  I want to start small and work my way up.  I really, really, really want to loss and keep it off this time.  My main problem areas are thighs, hips, and belly.  My arms could definitely use help but the midsection is my main issue.  My main question is how can I start small and build it up and what should I be doing most?  Any help/advice you guys can give me would be greatly, and I mean greatly, appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

ps, I do also like doing my yoga, belly dance, and tai chi videos.  I need my workout to be something I just can't wait to do at the end of the day.

Kate

hey ladies ...

ya i didnt believe the scale at first but i weighed myself 3 times and thats what it said everytime .. so its awesome .. just hope it will stay off since it did come off rather quickly ... eek ...

heather... i usually try to keep my cal deficit around 1000 ... but no more than that (i mix my cal deficit up a bit too .. i'm a beleiver that your body will get use to the cal intake if it stays the same all the time just like doing the same workout day in day out your muscles remember it and then it doesnt work as well) ... as for my workouts its mostly cardio then i throw in some push ups, crunches and resistant bands .. i have cut out most of my caffine intake .. not all cuz i do enjoy coffee and reg tea from time to time ... but i mostly drink water and green tea .. i try and eat 6 times a day  (3 meals and 3 snacks) ... hope that helps .. and just remember this .. it took me a month and a half before i saw any results ... oh one more thing .. i try to keep my carb intake to breakfast and lunch .. none for dinner or very lil

kate.. way to go on the 4.5lbs ... and don't mind your b/f too much .. i totally think its a guy thing ... mine makes comment like yours does but in the other direction but then he does include himself in the comments too (he does realize that hes not what he was when we met .. i'm actually smaller by 2lbs now then when we met .. hahahahahahah) .. my best advice for you kate is just do this for yourself not for him or anybody else .. do it for yourslef, for your health, for that sexy black dress you will put on at the end (you know the one that makes ppls jaws drop) ... do it for all the right reasons ... i will let you in on a lil secret why i started on this journey .. its cuz I SNORE .. and it gets worse as i gain weight .. that is why i am doing this .. lol .. so dont mind your b/f .. he does notice .. just not sure how to state it so you dont take it the wrong way (my b/f had told me that he tries to think of the right way of saying something so it doesnt sound bad cuz us girls have a habbit of turning everything into a negative no matter of the good intentions) .. hes right .. sorta .. lmao

ok .. so heres the thing .. i love my guy and he is an awesome cook but man i dont think he realizes how much my diet has changed while he was away .. lol .. so i think it will be seperate cooking for every meal from now on ... last night he made an awesome dinner but loaded with carbs and my stomach just couldnt handle it .. it was like a huge weight .. i felt sick all night ... poor guy (i made him feel bad cuz he did try .. other then the carbs it was a very healthy dinner) ...

As for the rest of you ladies (amy, sam, gladys) ... hope all is going well ... cant wait to get to know you guys better .. stick with it ... you'd be surprised how logging in daily will help you out so much more ...

cheers all

Shawna

Hi Kate,

I bet Shawna will have some good ideas on this one.  I think she is good about working out every day.

Maybe set a goal?  Like a super realistic one.  How long will your walk be today?  Set a time, a goal and then do it and pat yourself on the back.

THEN, what will you do tomorrow?  To eat well I have to have a plan so I can be prepared.  I think maybe you need a plan to work out well too.

Oil your equipment.  How long would that take?  20 minutes?  Oil it.

If you can't think of anything you're excited to do, choose something you can do for a shorter period of time.  Tell yourself I can do anything for 15 minutes -- because you can!!!!  I think jumping rope (like Shawna does) could be a great short workout.  It gets your heart rate up quick!  You could do like 30 seconds jumping, 30 seconds resting for like 10 minutes and that's something, that's cardio.  Running for 15 minutes depending upon your pace can burn like 150 calories -- that's cardio!

Do you need / want a new gadget?  I, too, am pretty hippy.  I bought at Wal-Mart some neoprene shorts (think bicycle shorts) for about $20.  (they also have neoprene belts)  I put on my shorts and work out and it is awesome how much I sweat in those shorts!!!!  I think it dehydrates my thighs, butt area.  It's not a permanent miracle cure, but feels like you're really getting some calories burned, and I feel like I look better, firmer when I take them off.

So sorry you're struggling with work outs.  Sending you love and support.  I hope something I've mentioned is helpful.

You are so much stronger than you think you are.  You can do this.

Heather

Thanks for the advice!!  I actually found a lot of free weight exercises online.  I think I am going to come up with a workout plan with that plus my cardio.  Do you think setting a goal to workout only one day a week until I get in the swing of adding fitness is too low to set?  I think I can definitely do one day a week and then start adding more days on in a few weeks.  I am also the type of person that will do what I tell someone else I will do.  I am a very loyal person.  I am offically telling you that I will do one workout a week and add more later.  Hold me to it!!  Smile  Thanks again for the help.

Kate

hey kate ...

i think a min. of 3 days week would be a good start honestly ... just for the simple fact 1 day a week is to easy to start over if you miss it ... i started just 3days a wk for 20min of those days ... and went from there ... i also use a variety of workouts from an online site (which is a free and pay site .. if you want the name just ask) ... and i also have a few dvds that i use ...

cheers i hope this helps

shawna

Okay, so I am officially saying I will workout 3 days a week.  Do you think I should start with all 3 days being cardio or say 2 days cardio, 1 day weights?  I am trying to make this as simple as possible to get myself into working out.  I don't want it to turn into something I don't want to do.  I want it to become a habit that is part of my life.  But I know me, I like to give up easy and I really, really don't want to do that.  I am all about trying new things at home.  Oh and yes, Shawna, please share your website.  My week starts today.  Thanks again for your help.
