Happy Halloween weekend everybody!

Hey Karen, good to hear from you!

Darren, hoping you are better soooon.

SHeather

Hey! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Karen ~ I figured you were swamped. Remember, no loss is better than a gain. Smile

Darren ~ Feel better soon!

Kate ~ You feel better too! You have training to start and someone to keep you accountable, missy.

Dawn ~ Hope you're having fun with the parents. <I'll drink for you this weekend too.>

SHeather ~ Where are you running the Thanksgiving 5K?

Zig ~ Good luck with all the games!!!!

Hope everyone avoids the candy monsters this weekend! I'm off to watch my oldest kick some ass in karate (we're prepping for his tournament), and then run with the mantra...each mile = 1 glass of wine. Tongue out

Take care.

~Carin~

Happy Halloween everyone!!  We are going trick or treating so we'll be walking and I didn't have to buy candy so no temptations..........until the kiddos bring their's in...but I can resist candy- it's salty snacks that get me.

Scale says I'm down two pounds:)Laughing

Has anyone ever done p90X videos?  My husband got them (to gain weight ironically) and I'm going to try but I'm only allowed to do about 10-15 minutes of cardio a day so we'll see.

Have fun!

Leah

Leah ~ Congrats on two pound loss -- that's great!  I've not done p90X.  I think BF bought them but we've never even sat on the couch and watched them.  Smile  I hear it's fabulous and really works though!  My cousin's husband and another friend's husband did them and swears by em.  Good luck.

Happy Monday Everyone!
SHeather

Hello everyone!!!

Leah ~ Congrats on the 2 lbs.  I've not done p90X either, sorry.  I have also heard it is great though.

Carin ~ It is rainy here but I will get in the gym for weights, core and maybe a long bike ride to start off my training.  Tomorrow is supposed to be an easy run day.  Please, please, please keep me accountable.  I have no discipline what as ever.  Bug me daily, I need it.

I hope everyone has a great afternoon.

Kate

Happy Monday!

Busy weekend! I hope you all did better than me on the candy front Embarassed. Chocolate is my weekness. I haven't weighed myself since Wednesday lol. I think I'll give it a few more days Wink. We ate out an awful lot this weekend with the family visiting.... AND I didn't get to do any workouts. I was active and walked a lot, but no good exercise I have to admit. Oh yeah, and my mom made these cookies for her bake sale Yell. We did finish the weekend off though with a nice family movie night :) My 6yo loved Swiss Family Robinson. The bowl of pumpkin seeds I was scarfing down was most definately already beyond my alotted calories for the day too! I think next week I'm going to try this rice-cake trick I read about for people who are allergic to corn. You break up the cakes into little pieces and toss them with some melted butter and seasonings and viola! Cry I miss popcorn.

Carin I think I drank enough for both of us this weekend too! Maybe the pitcher of Sangria with dinner Friday wasn't such a great idea lol.

Congrats to all of you who lost last week!!!! I would be lying if I didn't admit to being just a little bit jealous Kiss Oh well. It's my own fault - grrrrrrrr.

Darren I hope you feel better soon! And Kate you too!! It is the season. Colds and flus are crazy around me right now. **knock on wood** nobody in my family has gotten it yet.

Zig that's awesome with the lucky streak! I once pulled a $50 bill out of the pocket of my leather jacket. It was one of those happy-sad moments. At first you're thrilled to find $50 and then you're like 'I'm such a moron for losing $50.' Good luck with your game!!!

Later! Dawn :)

Howdy everyone!

Leah ~ Congrats!!! I don't know of anyone who's done the P90X. I've wanted to, but I think I've been "building up" to try those. I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to most workout videos because I ended up with a slipped disc in my back from TaeBo about 7 years ago. I haven't been the same since.

Kate ~ I don't think you've realized the can of worms you may have just opened. I take my "accountability buddy" duties very seriously! What's your schedule? Send it to me!!! I've had to adjust mine for my soccer schedule, but it's pretty decent.

Dawn ~ Here, I offer to drink for you, and you do enough for both of us. ;) No worries, I barely drank. I had a 1/2 glass after my run on Friday night, and I just couldn't finish off the glass. I wanted to have a beer last night to celebrate my goal & win...nah, just ate and passed out after my shower. But anyway... I'm glad you had a great weekend with the fam. I laughed though, yesterday. I was drinking a Gatorade after my game and I could just hear you yelling in my head "You know better! That has HFCS in it!"I could just picture you wagging your finger at me. I know it does. It's the only thing I still have with HFSC in it, and it's only once a week right now. I really need to find a natural sports drink. Cannot do Odwalla...talk about post workout yak.

We won our soccer game yesterday. Woohoo! Perfect weather, perfect goal from yours truly, perfect soccer Sunday.

Karen, Darren, Andee, Zig, SHeather, HeatherS, and anyone else ~ Hi there! Hope you're not too swamped/sick/busy/whatever. LOL

Take care.

~Carin~

Kate ~ have you planned your route for tomorrow's run?  Maybe try a new route?  run your typical route backwards?  just a couple thoughts. . . .you know I'll bug ya (per your request).  Did you see a I sent you a private note about moterating duties?

Dawn ~ I was terrible this weekend -- too much of EVERYthing -- candy and just food, food, food!  Rice cake trick sounds interesting.  I hope it works for you.  I heart the little rice cake minis -- caramel flavor.  I think they've been mentioned in this group before.

Tata, chicas!
SHeather

Carin ~ I have my schedule on my fridge.  I believe week 1 is easy 2 mile runs for 3 days and week 2 is 2 easy 2 mile runs and a 3 mile run.  Week 3 is a 2 mi, 3 mi and 4 mi run.  It goes up from there.  The "off run" days are rest or cross training.  I will use those for weights, core and bike or run.

SHeather ~ I replied to your message.  I will need to redo my route as my miles have to be upped.  I am good with the 3.25 mile route I have now.  I have been scouting other neighborhoods I can get to easily.  I don't know how large those neighborhoods are though.  I hope they are fairly safe to run in.  I think the pepper spray is calling me now.  I also need to get a hi vis jacket or something too.

I hope you guys have a great night.

Kate

Kate ~ Here is my improvised training schedule once I finally sat down and figured my running averages in my practices & games. This is what I'll be doing through Thanksgiving, or the 15th if they decide to call it a short season due to all the rain we've had.

Monday - Yoga/rest
Tuesday - Run (3.5 miles for now)
Wednesday - Weights/circuits/cross-training
Thursday - Practice (average 3 miles running) [With the time change, I may call practices since we use a "no lights" field. If so, I'll be running 3.5 miles.]
Friday - Run (2 miles) + cross-training
Saturday - Yoga/weights/cross-training)
Sunday - Game (average 5 miles running)

SHeather ~ I replied too, but I have no clue what's going on with anything today. It seems like if it's going to screw up, it will today.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

~Carin~

Why I agreed to a 1/2 marathon I will never know.  I couldn't even do anything on my first day of training.  My headache is still with me today.  I am not as tired.  I even skipped watching hockey last night.  That is so not like me.  Today the plan is to call and make my massage appt to see if that will help my head.  I will also be drinking my fluids and eating carbs (thanks Carin).  I have fruit and Kashi TLC bars.  I am actually surrounded by fruit.  I had oatmeal for breakfast and fruit for breakfast/snack a little later.  Lunch might be a yummy "high in preservatives" Lean Cuisine.  More fruit in the afternoon or a TLC bar.  And all this with Vitamin water and water in between.  Sound good?

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Kate

Kate, don't think that already!!! You are starting your training early, so don't worry if you miss one or two days due to a headache. Don't beat yourself up for it either. Typical training is 3 months from race day. You have plenty of time. Key thing is for you to make sure your body is well enough to train right now. Yes, fluids and carbs. Remember, runners need 50-60% good carbs (yea, I freaked a bit at that number too). Make that appointment!

Hiya everyone! Hope everyone is having a great day!

This may be my only post until this evening. I'm taking a 1/2 day for "mental health". LOL.

~Carin~

Carin ~ I don't beat myself up about it.  I am too lazy for that.  Laughing  I made my appt with someone other than my sister.  My sister is a cheerleader coach and the girls are going to regional competition this weekend so she isn't doing a lot of massages right now.  Oh well, I will get to try a new person just in case there is another time my sister can't do it.  I did notice yesterday that my head would feel better after I ate something.  I ate a lot yesterday to try to get rid of it.  I am hoping it goes away for my run tonight.  It is only supposed to be an easy 2 mile run tonight so I will probably be okay for it.  Head up, shoulders back, relaxed, I'm on it!!!  I hope you have a great mental afternoon.  Smile

I hope everyone has a great afternoon.

Kate

Hey can I have a mental heath day??? Pleeeeeeeeeease! I didn't get a workout in last night and I am STILL really tired today. Bleh. I am loving the time change this week though! I probably should be taking advantage of it to get in some early workouts Undecided. Oh well. I think I need a motivational kick in the ass Surprised.

Darren how many shopping days left??

Kate you can do it! I wish I had the time to train for a 1/2 marathon. I am so jealous! I hope your headache goes away. Ick my stomach hurts just thinking about your Lean Cuisine.

So I hope to get in atleast 45 minutes on the dreadmill tonight! I have to do some paperwork first so I am really hoping it doesn't take long!!!! It's a Biggest Loser night so maybe I'll feel extra guilty if I don't lol. BTW Carin what did you think of Heroes last night?!?!?!? Samuel and Mohinder? Ooooh it's getting good. That is still by far my favorite show on tv! I get Heroes withdrawal when the season is over Cry.

Tata! Dawn :)

Dawn ~ You are too funny.  I so wish I was a morning person just for the time change in the winter.  My lean cuisine was one of the streamer ones.  It was actually pretty yummy.  And just so you know this is the first one I have had in awhile.  Actually since we last talked about it on here.  Maybe a month or so, maybe more.  I used to eat them every day for lunch so give me some credit.  I really haven't wanted anything for lunch in awhile.  I try to do something good but I am a very lazy person.  The microwave is my friend and the BF's fault.  I didn't have a microwave when he moved in.  Laughing

I hope you guys have a great night.

Kate

Well-coaching field hockey is officaially over. We lost today in the 2nd round of states. The girls played their hearts out and gave 100% the whole time.  Hey, we'll see what happens next year!

On Sunday the team I played for lost 1-0 to the number one team in our league.  I think they have beat all the other teams by alot. So that was good. We had no subs and did pretty well.

Sooo on Halloween, I ate and drank way too much. BUT I brought a salad and made sure I ate some. But it was probably cancelled out when I played beer pong. When was the last time I did that? College? UH! NO!! b/ce they hadn't invented beer pong when I was in college. It was still quarters!

I'm leaving for Punta Cana on Thursday morning! I will think of you all and drink lots for you. I do promise I will run at least one of those days. They have a "jogging trail" on the resort so it better be good.

Gotta get moving for parent conferences tonight!

HELLO to ALL and wishing skinny vibes for everyone!

BigZignj-

Food for thought-  Who wants to be the first to make a no calorie, no HFCS, all but good for you candy? And the more you eat, the better it is for you? AND it's like the soy bean, you can do anything with it??

I have completed my first day of 1/2 marathon training.  I did an easy 2 mile run with yoga and a soak in the hot tub for good measure.  Today is a weight, core, cross training day.  Maybe with training I will actually make roll call this month.

Zig ~ Sorry your team(s) lost.  Getting that far in is really, really great though.  Keep up the great coaching next year.  Smile  I wish I was in NJ.  I would still love to play.  I will get a major field hockey bug at some point and look for a league here.  I should probably deal with the whole 1/2 marathon thing first.  Laughing

I hope everyone has a great hump day!!!

Kate

Dawn ~ Don't worry...my mental health afternoon was actually filled with an appointment, but I took the rest of the day off. Anytime I'm not at work, it's  mental health time. Heroes is awesome this season. I go through withdrawals too.

Zig ~ Getting to the 2nd round at state is fantastic! I also know how it feels about losing to the number one team. That was my team two weeks ago. Have fun in Punta Cana!!!

Kate ~ Good way to start the training. I missed my run last night because I actually felt like crap after my appointment and went home and took a several hour nap. Then went back to bed an hour later. I'm actually home today too. I may get some yoga in if my body lets me. All aches and pains today and not the good, sore from workout kind of pains.

Have a good day everyone.

~Carin~

Hello all!  I've been swamped with school and it's only going to get worse from here Frown.  I had my 2nd of 3 algebra exams last night.  I don't think I did great but I passed, that's all that matters.

No exercise but I did buy a fancy "garment" that takes 10lbs off.  I know it's cheating but I look hot and didn't have to run three miles.  Smile  As soon as this semester is over I'm back on track though.  I miss running so much and it doesn't help that you people talk about it all the time (kidding!  you know I live vicariously through your runs).

Zig - Congrats to the girls to getting so far.  There is something to be said for losing well.  They played admirably, so good for them!  NJ is a big state, I mean hey.  Getting to the second round of states is a big deal in and of itself.  Yay girls!  Yay girl's coach!  Have fun in Punta!

Carin - I'm a little mad at you for the "several hours nap" (where's my nap??? FrownWink) but I'm  more concerned about the "aches and pains".  What did the doc say, anything?  Feel better soon.

Kate - Poor head!  You feel better soon, too.

Leah - Good job on the loss!

Dawn and Heather - HI!  I pigged on the candy too but still at 160lbs so w/e.

Where's Joan?  Where's Andee?  Where's our little Darry-pooh?

(((hugs!)))

Karen

Joan is dealing with family stuff.  Her son had a great fall and was in the hospital.  He is home now and recovering.

Andee is on Facebook so she is still out there.  I got a sheep from her today for my island.  Laughing

Maybe we scared Darren again.  I see his name cycle through on my friends list so he is logging into CC.

Am I the nosiest person you know or what?  Laughing

Don't study too hard Karen or should you study hard to make sure you pass?  Ha, just don't get burned out.

Laters,
Kate
