karen-
did you get the wok? 2 tests down 1 to go. You will get through it!
Kate-You are not nosy! you are informed!
Thank god the Halloween candy is gone and out of my face. Can I shove any more **** in my mouth? Oh wait, I think I can! So I went to go buy a bathing suit today-there were some on sale at a store in my town. OMG! Can I feel more like a fat cow? I do NOT HEART bathing suits.
Can't wait to eat my Panini!
Karen ~ It was great to hear from you...you keep right on with your studying!!! Also, I am fine, dr. said everything is fine, just unexpectedly needed a day of rest.
Kate ~ You are not nosy. You're just better at keeping up with everyone.
Zig ~ I always hate bathing suit shopping. I could look like a VS model, and I'd still hate it.
BTW, I had to make a trip to Target today. Granted, every store is different, but check out the activewear clearance. Skorts, tanks, long sleeve wicking shirts....you name it, on clearance. Everything was either too big or too small for me, but I did find a long sleeve wicking shirt for only $10!. I know, Kate, you just dropped pretty pennies on running gear, but....it never hurts.
On that note, this tired lady is getting her kids and herself to bed early while trying to not think about the fact that I haven't worked out since my game on Sunday.
~Carin~
Good Morning, Ladies~
I came on for a bit yesterday and did some posts reading but then got busy at work and didn't ever post. I was so sorry to hear about Joan's son. Thanks for letting us know, Kate. AND for keeping up with all of us so well -- you're the glue.
(the skinny cute glue -- that's meant as a compliment and with appreciation)
Carin ~ (((((happy vibes))))) with the weather. Can you tell your life is better??? I swear I can. I have a little more energy with the sun shining I think! I hope your "mental health" day was full of sunshine. . . I know so corny but I LOVE it!!!! ![]()
I ran a little on Sunday (slow jog for almost 15 minutes (???) didn't clock it just went until the dog said ENOUGH MOM!!!! Then I ran on the dreadmill (shout out Dawn) yesterday. Planning on a "long" run tomorrow. . . which may mean like 25-30 minutes . . . . I hope. . . I'm sooo out of running but the TT is motivating me.
Kate, congrats on a great start to 1/2 marathon training!
I got replies from both Carin and Kate. . .not sure why I didn't see them before. THANKS!
Zig ~ sorry to hear your team is out of the running for field hockey but sounds like y'all had a GREAT WINNING season -- congrats, Coach! Have a fabulous trip!!!!! Actually I think you're already gone, it's Thurs morning now. . . .
Hi Karen ~ good to hear from you! I'm going to run for you soooooon!!!!
Happy Thursday All~
Heather
Good Morning People! Thanks for the support. I'm trucking along with school. One more month then it's over! yay.
Kate - Thanks for the update. Every group needs a sheepdog, don't apologize. It's a vital role and you fill it well.
Carin - I'm glad to hear you're okay. I get the need for sleep. We went to bed at 9:30pm last night and I still overslept! Oy vey! Thanks for the Target tip.
Zig - I did get the wok last night! We were super excited, we've already picked a recipe out of the booklet to try plus I'm going to make my crispy curried okra and potato recipe. The recipe calls for a wok, I've always made it in a pan and it nevercomes out right. One of the handles broke off but I think I saw a way to jerryrig it back on. Plus, it's on a base, the handles aren't completely necessary. I'll get a check for shipping in the mail this week (or early next week. I'm a flake) Should I just make it out to the hubbers co? Or to you?
Bathing suits? Forget it. The last time I liked my body in a bathing suit was 10 years ago. Sad.
heart my girls (and that flaky englishman, wherever he may be),
Karen
Thanks for all the compliments. I think I keep up with people so well because I will worry if I don't see/talk to people often. I don't want anything bad to happen to any of my friends. ((((hugs))))
Carin ~ You had better believe I will head to Target. I only got 1 pair of pants, 1 shirt and 1 sweatshirt for over $100. Stupid UnderArmor name. I have to have the moisture wicking fabric. I love the way UnderArmor feels on the skin, that is why I spent that much but I need more than 1 pair of everything. Thanks for the heads up.
I hope everyone has a great day!!!
Kate
OMG!!!! I got the pictures uploaded !!!!! Woo Hoooooooo!!!!!
Okay. First pic - my profile pic is the very first card I made AND my favorite design. (i got this idea from a gift bag i had with Cmas stuff). Then I took a group pic of all the cards I made in Florida and it is posted in my profile pics -- check it out! I also put in a pic of these crazy palm trees I thought were so cool. It's not a very good pic -- it's taken with my crackberry cell phone. . .. but those trees were just at this one hotel we had a meeting at and they were so different to me. It looked like a tall stick with a few giant boston fern leaves coming out of the top. I really, really loved all the palm trees and just the plants in general in Florida. I think Orlando is like a giant green house and they just go nuts -- same plants we have here in Texas only B-I-G-G-E-R! So pretty, so nice. I believe it rained just a very little every day (maybe like 15 minutes of drizzle then sunshine) while we were there so I guess it makes sense that the plant life would be very happy.
Sooooo glad I finally got those uploaded!!!! Now I'm a computer prodigy. I can do anything. Ask me any techy questions you may have. . . . .LOL JK!!!!
SHeather
Heather - That actually looks like a Mexican Tree Fern to me. If you baby the bajeezus out of it you could grow one where you are, you'd just have to give it special treatment. LOVE the cards! All of your friends are going to feel so special when they arrive this Christmas. How did the deck staining go? How is the bf's new place coming along? How are you?
I snuck in my afternoon walk. It's so pretty outside! though you know I don't mind the rain...
Karen
Hey all! I'm tired today, so I'm only going to post this link to these awesome running shirts I found. My Mottoz. Heather, I'll check your card out later this evening after a nap.
Take care and talk to you soon.
~C~
Heather ~ You are so crafty. You know how much planning I've done for Christmas....... none, notta, zilch!!! And Darren isn't around to let us know how many days of shopping we have left. ![]()
Karen ~ Way to go on the afternoon walk. I wish I got hour lunches so I could do that too.
Carin ~ Feel better soon.
Later Gators,
Kate
Carin ~ I love the "will run for wine" shirt and the "shut up and run" jacket. I might just have to place an order. Thanks for sharing.
Kate
LOL. . . I guess I'm feeling MEAN because I was so judging the models on Carin's link. . . . .Keep Up or Shut Up needs to get some smoother boobs. Seriously, is that wadded up foil in there? LOLOLOL The shorts model looks like my five year old nephew's hips. LOLOLOL Sorry, just kidding around. Don't know why those mean thoughts popped in my head.
Karen ~ I heart Mexican Tree Fern. Soooo different to my eyes. I wouldn't want something you have to baby. I don't even have a Camilla (?) Camella (?) starts with a C. . . . Tree that blooms all over I think of red or hot pink and blooms look like roses. . . . maybe they even bloom in cold weather like Jan or Feb. . .anywho I LOVE those but know I'm better with native, heartier things.
Thanks for asking but we did not stain the deck and a couple of weeks ago we officially decided we would wait until Spring. I did not want to do ALL that work to have it ruined or not turn out as good as it could because it has been soooooo WET.
I'm gooooood but I have a new problem I know you, Karen and Dawn, can help with. RABBITS at BF's new house!!!!! I planted purple violas by his front door and apparantly they are delicious! ugh. BF said it looks like the baby ornamental cabbages are pretty tasty too. Know a good web site for me to check out? I know rabbits are a common problem for lots of people, I've just never had to deal with it. I'm thinking I need to plant things that are not tasty as oppossed to trying to spray something on plants to repel bunnies but seriously have never looked into it even a little bit, not sure what people do.
Thanks for the kind words about my cards. I'm proud of them. I need to make more but haven't worked on them since got back. It was a good relaxing little hobby during down time in my hotel room. (that and FB)
CHRISTMAS ALERT: I'm gonna share this just in case it is helpful to anyone. . . . . sorry this is such a long post. . . . .at Target they have a Tech Toy Aisle. At my Target it is where toy aisles start to meet electronics department. They have Night Vision goggles (I almost put googles LOL) and I think they are awesome! They are $47 plus tax. I had heard about them. I heard that "real" NV was like $200 but that these were $50 and worked really well just to have fun with. I told BF and he loved the idea of NV -- like total boy thing, I think maybe just about every boy (or man) might love these. . . . . Well BF bought some and he is crazy about them -- we walked the dog after dark the other day and he wore them. . . giggle giggle. He LOVES them. He went back and bought three more pair for Cmas gifts, his brother, his neice (she's 5 or 6) and his Dad. My mother bought them for my Dad and brother-in-law. My GF bought a pair for her husband and is giving them to him tomorrow night because Friday he leaves for a deer hunting trip. . . .you know they get up before light out and sit in the deer stand. . . . . .good application for NV. (it may not be deer hunting season yet, maybe they're just going to "prepare" for hunting season)
Later Sweet Taters~
SHeather. . . . .WHERE IS HEATHER S?????
SHeather ~ The night vision thing cracked me up. Silly boys (men)!!!! I loved that tree too. It is very cool looking. It looked soft to the touch even. Not that I cuddle with soft trees while on hiking trips.
That brings a whole new meaning to tree hugger. Sorry, but I can't help with the rabbit thing. Just remember they have to eat too. ![]()
Okay it is Friday. Weight report...... up 0.5 lbs. I did eat a lot this week but I am also thirsty. Could be water, could be food, who knows. I will work on it. Plus with training I am not at all concerned about 0.5 lbs.
Dawn ~ I am still trying the honey in my green tea but I keep putting too much and it is too sweet. What is a good amount to put in my 12 oz cup of green tea. I like sweet but not over powering. I think I do like the orange blossom better then the clover honey.
I hope everyone has a great Friday!!
Kate
Good Morning Ladies! 161lbs on the weigh in, about average for me.
Heather - Well, by special treatment I mean wheel it in to the garage or protected area when the temp drops below 40 degrees and mist with the garden hose 3x a week. I'm a neglectful gardener though so I hear ya. I need plants that can take care of themselves. Camellia. Pretty hearty down here, actually. You should try one. About the bunnies. I'm with Kate, poor little guys need to eat too, but I do understand wanting some plants for showy areas like the front walk or what have you. Try this stuff: http://www.gardeners.com/rabbit-scram-repelle nt/YardPests_DeerRabbits,38-112,default,cp.html I'm sure the HD would have something too but can't guarantee that its organic. I do urge you to plant some bunny food in a more out of the way spot. Poor little guys.
Love those shirts. Did you notice you can mix and match? I'm a big fan of "shut up and run", "it's not fat it's fuel" and "will run for beer".
I'm starting to think of Christmas presents. I'm thinking flat panel monitor for mom and dad, leather laptop bag and bird feeder for Cy, beautiful stationary for Cy's mother, and I have no idea for his father. He's not exactly the NVG sort. It will come to me.
Have a good Friday!
Karen
Good Friday to all. Weigh in....???? I've ranged from 143-147 all week, so I'm taking this week off and will think about it next week or whenever I'm feeling better.
Nightvision goggles. Since my family is full of boys, they all want them...and they don't do anything to actually warrant them. Heather, LOVE your cards. I'll make sure I post some pics when I get mine done. I may get started this weekend since it's looking like I'll be doing nothing but resting.
Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend!
~C~
Happy Friday everybody ![]()
Sorry I've been MIA most of the week. It is getting busy at work lately - yay! I'm not a fan of looking for things to do - I'd rather be too busy than not busy enough. Call me Overachiever lol.
Friday weigh day??? I didn't step on the scale this morning cuz I too knew it wasn't going to be a good number
. All week I've been up and down between 151 and 155 yikes! So much for my 149 a few weeks back
. I have been taking it easy though and trying to maintain. I'd like to see if that stuff on the breaking the plateau works if you eat more for a period of time and then cut calories again??? I'm still getting at least 3 days of exercise in, just not the 5 or 6 days like I was.
Kate I barely use 1 tsp of honey in a 12 oz. mug. I actually dip the spoon into the jar and let the honey drizzle off and what is left coated on the spoon in what I mix with the tea
. I can drink it straight black er green but I prefer a little sweetener. I think the orange blossom honey is just smoother than the clover honey so it's easier to spoon and melt.
Heather my answer to my rabbit problem and groundhog problem was marigolds. The hate marigolds. One year I had a vegetable garden that they were chowing down on and so I fenced it around almost entirely and then planted marigolds in front of the 4 foot wide opening in the fencing to keep them out of the garden and it worked! I think Marigolds are a pretty hearty annual and you can probably grow them year round in Texas (?). Hopefully you like the yellow and orange blossoms
. Good luck with the critters! BTW I love love love your cards too! I can't imagine having the time to do that?!?!? Awesome.
Carin enjoy your relaxing weekend! It's just me and the monkey girl until Sunday. Bruce and Jesse are going on Jesse's first cubscout camping trip this weekend - I don't know which one of my boys is more excited lol. I'm probably more excited than the both of them lolol.
Karen I like your gift ideas! I love stationary. Father-in-laws are always hard to buy for! Mine is a big fan of getting his coupons for the car wash.
Later! Dawn :)
TGIF!!!!
Weigh in: I am up by .6 pounds, not sure why . . . .maybe from all the bad eating and Halloween candy last weekend? I'm back on track now though so I think next Friday will be better.
I ran for 20 minutes in the park at lunch -- with my friend, which was so nice to have someone to chat with. We took easy pace and chatted the whole time, I purposefully didn't check mileage (didn't wear my Garmin watch) because just wanted to get my feet moving for a period of time. Onward TT training.
Karen, while I was on my run BF sent me a text . . . .guess what of???? A label of Rabbit Scram! LOL. He went to the nursery and bought it today -- yippie! I never thought of planting something just for the rabbits but I LOVE that idea. . . .esp if I could do something for cheap like plant from seeds, but then I worry if I could keep up enough supply for the demand. His neighborhood seems pretty well populated. I'll have to look up what they like. . . . Dawn, I heart marigolds only because they make me think of my Granddad. He used to plant marigolds and zinnas so remind me of him -- he's still alive and well but doesn't plant the flower beds anymore. Pretty sure no marigolds in the winter here. . . . .but thanks for the idea! Maybe I'll do marigolds in the Spring for color by the door.
Thanks again to everyone for the nice words about my cards. . . .is it time to mail them yet??? LOL JK
Carin ~ feel better, get some rest!
(((((hugs to all)))))
SHeather
I am about done for the day. I just wanted to tell you guys that I hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Kate
Happy Monday Everybody!!!!
I hope you all had nice weekends. This morning I am looking for any and all wellness suggestions. I'm afraid I may have gotten a bit of a cold going on and want to take good care of myself.
Symptoms are runnynose (off and on) sneezing and TIRED. I can be just doing daily little things and then all of the sudden I'm exhausted and have to sit down, take a break. It started Saturday morning -- I'm afraid it may have kicked in due to very stressful day at work Friday. . . . .ugh! (I have GOT to learn not to take things at work personally!)
Took several naps this weekend (20 minute cat naps when I got tired), taking vitamin C and got some of those Shower Soothers -- they are WONDERFUL if you've never tried them. It's a fizzy tablet you put in the bottom of the shower and it's like Vicks Vapor rub right in the shower with you -- WONDERFUL!
I do not have headache, no fever and don't think lymph nodes are swollen. Prefer not to take "drugs" if I can avoid it, would rather help my immune system kick it on it's own.
Thanks for any and all advice!
(((((hugs)))))))
SHeather
Good Monday Morning All!!!
Heather ~ I am sorry you are sick. I wish I could help you but I have been sick for over 2 weeks now. I say we all start drinking a lot of hard liquor and the germs won't have a chance.
I love the shower soothers too. I actually have one left but haven't used it for this sick spell.
I hope you guys have a great day!!! I am heading out to an appt. TTYL
