Hey everyone
i have been here for a lil bit and i am enjoying the site well enough but would like to meet ppl around my age to chat with .. share stories .. challenges .. and whatever else ...
lil about me, well i'm 32yrs old, 5'2 and 180lbs, would like to get down to 135-140 ... what else can i tell ya ... hmmm .. not sure easy going, lil lonely cuz bf is working outta town now and i'm in a small town that we moved to in nov and i know no one ... lmao ...
so i am here looking for friends and a lil support group ... topic of discussion is whatever is on someones mind at the time ...pretty much looking for buddies who will be around often enough and want company while we reach our goals ... lol ...
Cheers!
Shawna
ok kate ....
the website is "exercisetv.tv" ... it has a wide range of workouts from just cardio to circuit training to kicking boxing aerobics .. etc ... most of the workouts are 10/20/30 mins long ... but the catch is you have to watch them on your computer ... alot easier if you have a laptop or able to access the web from your tv ... unless you have enough space in your computer room ... pick one, if you like it finish the workout (dont worry if you dont get it all the first go around, takes time .. trust me i know .. lol) .. if you dont like it, go back and choose a different workout ... i myself tend to lean towards the circuit training just cuz you get a workout for both cardio and weights ...
i started with cardio mostly ... i threw in a few pushups (as many as i could do that day plus 1) and some crunches (same as push ups, as many as you can plus 1) .. then each time after that i tried to get a couple more push ups and crunches in and a lil longer cardio ... from there find what you like but now you have at least a base to step off of ... cheers!!!
shawna
Thanks for the website. I will definitely check it out. I know I will walk tonight. I will pick 2 other days this week and try it out. I promise on Friday morning with my brag time
I will also have done 3 days of fitness. Thanks!! You guys are the coolest in the world. Have a great weekend.
Kate
Hey all - I am looking for some serious help in staying motivated - is anyone up for it? :)
I'm 31 next week and the mother of a 5 year old little girl. And, I seem to be a little crazy because I am also a preschool teacher . . .
I'm 5'4" and as of today, my weight is 175.2. My goal is 145 or so, but I am going on a cruise to Mexico with my husband in three months and would love to feel better in a bathing suit. Not to mention just wearing my summer clothes a little better . . . I'd like to lose 10-15 lbs by May.
Also, my husband is winning this Biggest Loser challenge that he and his buddies started. I am so proud of him but feel so yucky because I'm not keeping up. He's super supportive but it kinda sucks because he loves me no matter what I look like (did I just say that?). LOL
Anyway, you all seem like a great group and I'd love to stay in touch . . .
Corina
hey corina
i see you have found your way here ... awesome ... like i had said before .. we are all in the same boat ... and there is always someone here to give you a hand ... moral support .. kick in the butt ... etc ... lol ... we're all easy going i think ... pretty sure .. yup almost can say i am positive about that .. anyways ... welcome ..
shawna
ps .. dont feel bad that you are not keeping up with your man ... most men will be able to lose their weight faster than women just from genetics ... go at your own pace ... and do what feel right !!!!
Welcom Corina~
We are so glad you are hear and look forward to sharing all our ups and downs with you as well as hearing about you. I think you have great motivator with upcoming cruise AND a husband who is getting fitter / healthier too. It is so true that it works better / faster for men then it does us gals, but hey, the victory will be that much sweeter, right? LOL
Shawna, thanks so much for sharing your method --1000 per day -- wow! You are awesome and an inspiration. I just went back and looked at my week and I'm deficiting between 500 - 800 per day. I'm going to take it slow. It is good that you pointed out that it took you a month + to get where you are. Remember I'm right on your heels, though!!! hehehehe LOL I also try 5 small meals per day and I've been trying to get 80 grams of protein per day. (half my body weight per my trainer's advice). I probably need to step up the cardio too. . . .baby steps. Again, thanks so much for all the information and support.
Have a great weekend!
Heather
Thanks for the welcome! I am down this week - woo-hoo!
I just realized I've lost over 10 lbs since I've started (last fall). I agree that it is really hard to see how well you are doing when it is so slow. But when I think about being ten pounds lighter, it does make me feel better - at least I've been maintaining or losing this whole time - not gaining! :)
Now what I'd like to do is get on the ball. If I lose 10 pounds more, I'm halfway there. I just have to keep tellling myself "I'm going on a cruise, I'm going on a cruise."
My poor hubby lost the Biggest Loser challenge by 1.5 lbs - so frustrating, especially because the guy who won just starved himself the whole time and will gain it all back when he starts eating again. I am so proud of my man for losing over 25 lbs in 3 months, the RIGHT way! I wish I could say the same, but am still not quite in the right excercise mindset. I should be able to do well over spring break, as I have some time off.
Ooooh, I just had an idea for a short term challenge. I will excercise every day of spring break - anyone want to join me (Shawna, this should be an easy one for you!)?
Hope you all had a great weekend.
just stopping in to let you guys know that my computer has crashed and that i wont be around much til its fixed (about 2 weeks or so) .. i'm at the inlaws right now .. so i cant get to the computer often ... good luck .. see you when i get back
Welcome Corina!! Congrats on your 10 lbs loss. That is a big deal. I used to go to the pet store and pick up the equivilent dog food bag just to get a perspective on the amount of weight I lost. Sometimes doing stuff like makes it feel even sweeter. If you have read all the posts before this one, you will see that I am the one that needs the kick in the butt and motivation too. Heather and Shawna have been great motivators. Shawna has even gotten me to workout 3 days a week. It feels great to being lossing.
I had a great weekend. I even went to my neices birthday party yesterday and had no cake and ice cream. I didn't even pick at the appetizers that were out. I have always had great wellpower as long as I am focused. You guys have really helped with my focus for sure. I did go over on my calories on Saturday but I feel it was a good go over (does that even make since). The dinner I had was all grilled no grease/fat hanging onto the food. I also told you guys I would walk with my daughter on Friday but the rain came before I could go, so I went in my gym and worked out. I did a little ab work too. When I got out of the gym and sat for chill time after, my abs were talking to me. It felt good.
Should muscles talking like that feel good? Anyway, I hope you all have a great day.
Shawna, We will miss you. We will have great news when you do come back.

Okay you and I are in exactly the same spot! We need to get in touch! Same age and I'm a tad bit taller but same weight! I've lost 2 pounds this week (down to 178) by counting my calories and want the same Ideal weight as you.
WELCOME LOGROS76!!!!!! I know Shawna will be so glad to hear from you - we all are. Unfortunately Shawna's computer crashed and so it looks like we won't be hearing from her as much for the next couple of weeks til she can get it fixed. Congratulations on your LOSS!! Woo Hoo!!! That is a wonderful accomplishment. Corina has suggested a new challenge to work out every single day during Sring Break. Will you join us?
Corina~ I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea of Spring Break challenge! I am sooooooo in. You'll have to give me the dates of your Spring Break. (I hope it's not the last week of March, I'm outta town then). Ten pounds is AWESOME!!! I joined the site because I am up 15 pounds from last summer!!!!! Sounds awesome to be d-o-w-n. Baby steps, right? Not gaining is HUGE. Congrats to hubby on his loss too.
Kate~ You are so super duper for not having any cake and ice cream. Your will power is to be commended. AND you went to the gym when it was raining?!?! Be careful, we'll call you an overachiever with your workouts at this rate. LOL When are you planning on working out this week? Do you know what days yet? Makes total sense to me about going over with good calories as opposed to fat filled junk food calories. AND makes total sense that your abs were talking to you. Mine, too, were talking this weekend after extensive ab workout. Laughing til it hurt was pretty easy.
Shawna~ Say hi when you can . . . . .you'll be missed.
I weighed this morning (week one of sticking to counting) and . . . . . . . .drumroll please. . . . . .I LOST FIVE POUNDS. Woo Hoo!!! Yippie!!! I'm soooooo happy!
Here's to another GREAT WEEK -- I hope we're all LOSERS again this week! LOL (Pun Intended)
Also, I went to spin class this moring at 5:45 am before work, so I'm ready for the week. Tonight I'm going to do strength training and then get a massage.
(((((skinny vibes)))))
I would love to! Give me the dates and it's on!!!!!! I am having a hard time getting motivated to work out and this should help me! :)
Welcome Legros76!! It is great have you here.
Shawna has already gotten me on the 3 day a week workout so adding a few more days for a week won't hurt. Give me the dates of Spring Break and I am all over that challenge.
Heather, great, great job on your loss. I am so excited for all of us to be going at this strong. Like I have said before, these posts have really helped me out. I hope it is helping all of us. I think I have the most to loss. You guys aren't going to abandon me when you reach your goals, are you? Oh and the massage after working out, where do I sign up for that? I do have a hottub I can jump though. Jets do almost the same thing.
And another thing, I have always wondered how someone can jump into a spin class. How was that? I don't think I could go for that. I will probably workout either tonight and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. I comitted to 3 days a week with Friday being day one. Thursday will just be making it though but 3 days is 3 days. I promise to do 3!!
I hope everyone has a great day.
Kate
Good Morning Kate!
My gym is having a special because they just added a massage therapist. It was $30 for an hour massage, so I couldn't pass it up. It was really nice. So nice I signed up for another appointment in two weeks. ![]()
I like spinning. It's hard but I have such a sense of accomplishment when I finish a class. It also SO depends on your teacher as to how the class is. My teacher yesterday was upbeat, fun and motivational. She also had good music which makes a big difference.
Today I think I will take a rest day or possibly yoga class tonight if my dinner plans get cancelled.
Hopefully we'll hear from Corina today so we can all mark our calendars for the Big Spring Break 2009 challenge!
Kate, keep us posted on your workout schedule! You're doing great!
Heather
Heather,
I am glad to hear you enjoy spinning. I have just looked in the window and thought how can those people do that. LOL!! I know it is good for you but I just don't know if I would be able to do it. It would be fun to try but I'm not that much of an outgoing person. ![]()
I didn't workout last night because I was so tired. I fell asleep watching my hockey game. When I finally went to bed it was still pretty early and I felt so bad for not getting back up to workout. I will workout tonight and Thursady night. I promise!!
Have a great day everyone!!!!
Kate
Okay girls, I am having a terrible problem with staying within my calorie range!!! It tells me to eat 1340 calories per day. I seem to stay within 1500-1700 calories. I just feel like I'm starving! Any suggestions? I guess it's up to me to figure out what is best for me. Yesterday I had a mighty breakfast and it seemed to help me feel full throughout the day and today I didn't and feel much more hungry. Hmmm....In case you're wondering what is was I ate it was 2 eggs, 2 slices of 40 calories bread and a peach. Today I had high fiber oatmeal and want to eat my hand. I am a big breakfast eater and love eggs but wonder if the cholesterol will be too much for me. Egg beaters may be better. I don't know if I can give up my dip dip eggs though ![]()
Kate -
Hey, we're all human, aren't we? Sounds like you needed the sleep if you went to bed early - and that's good for your body, too!
Heather - WOW! Five pounds is so great! I bet you feel like it's all worth it. Keep up the good work, baby!!!!!!
So, my spring break is the 9th through the 13th, and I was going to try to include the weekends on either side, also. How good would it feel to workout 9 days in a row? Not sure how feasible it is with all the stuff we always pack into our weekends, but, hey, I'm always willing to try! :)
So glad you're all wanting to join me at least through the week. I know it would make us all feel like we accomplished more.
Welcome, LOGROS. I'm right in the same stats also. It's nice to have someone to chat with who has the same goals . . . keep in touch!
Corina
Sorry, Legros76, didn't mean to butcher your name!
I know what you mean about feeling hungry, I often have that oatmeal, too. I've been trying to eat a small snack in the morning so I'm not ravenous by lunchtime. Even just a small handful of cheese crackers or string cheese (can you tell I work at a preschool?) makes me feel decent. Then I try to do the same in the afternoon. I'm supposed to be right in that same range and I usually end up about 1500.
Adding a workout (even a small one) can help you add a few calories to your allowance, also. Good luck!
Corina
Oh don't worry about it! You can call me Mandy! That is much easier :) I'm going to do my absolute best to do the 9 day'er (haha!) with ya! I do need to work out instead of sitting at the sushi bar. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't party at all (I'm a big knitter actually) but my sushi is MY CRACK!! I love it. And it's healthy too. Give me a tuna and salmon sushi and you won't hear a peep out of me! Anywho- I need to get that under control and put on my tennis shoes and go walk my dog huh?![]()
The high fiber oatmeal is delicious but it doesn't hold me. I do believe I'm doing much better and seeing how many calories are in food I ate regularly I bet I lose the first few with no problem because of the change that my body is seeing now. I bet normally I would eat at least 2500 or 3000 a day. yikes!
I'm so glad I have ya'll to visit with!
Thanks for the good wishes! Happy Losing to ya'll!!!![]()
Hi Girls!
Yea! Spring Break challenge. I am going to do a six day challenge -- Monday thru Saturday. I'm not willing to give up my Sundays. :)
Mandy~ I heart egg beaters. 1/4 cup is 30 calories. I think one egg is like 71 calories? Saving the cals might be worth no runny middles? Do you eat small meals all day too? I'm in the same boat with you. Some days are better than others but I'm not sure what the difference is. I miss eating til I am FULL, which I think was my old (bad) habit.
Good wishes to all. . . gotta run.
Kate, ask about workout or not? :) I want to be supportive, not nagging or negative. Either way, sending you good wishes!!!!
Heather
