hey there are a few of UK folk around :) a topic seems to get started then disappear into the abyss. I'm from Bolton.

Maybe this one will make it...

*waves*

This is my first post. I'm more of a lurker but couldn't resist posting in the UK thread

Woo welcome to the forums! I am the one and only UK moderator here Laughing well, for now at least
wOOt - congrats to you! Cool

So, where you at? How old are you? What do you hope to achieve?

is nosy...

I turned 30 in May. Found five or six grey hairs and also noticed I had to sit down after two minutes of chopping vegetables because my back hurt. I thought enough was enough. I've spent my twenties being over weight and had put on three stone in the previous six months. I felt out of control and unfit - 30 going on 80!

I weighed myself in KG so that I had no clue how bad it really was and then started to calorie count. I now have 1400 cals per day (I started at 1700), well, averaged over the week, some day are more, some are less and I've lost 35lbs so far. After three weeks I converted KG to stone and it was 17 stone 5lbs - I'm still glad I didn't work it out at the time.

I take pictures of me naked (barf) once per month and measure and weigh weekly. I hate taking pictures of myself but the results show far more than from the scales or tape measure and now actually look forward to seeing them - although I have to mentally step back as if I think too hard about it I remind myself of how I look to others :(

Things are looking up and I already feel much better, not just physically but mentally too :) I have a target of 123lbs but I haven't been that since I was seventeen so may be unachievable. I would probably be happy at 133lbs but will decide nearer the time. I just keep thinking that I look better and better with every week that passes. The downside is having to buy new clothes. I don't want to spend much money (none ideally) on transitional items. Oh and my height is 5'3". Thanks for asking :)

BTW, I moved here from the old site and seem to have lost my ticker in the process - do you know where it may have gone?

I do not know... but i will ask some moddie people!

Well i am 20 (in 10mins!), 5ft1, 176lbs. Heaviest i have ever been. I was bullemic as a child and underweight, i evened out and then went too far. So i'm trying to sort it. But first i am working on my eating habits, change them, change my life. My goal is 120-140. Wherever in there i feel comfortable in my own skin. I have pics up of me in my new swimsuit on my journal. I don't hate the way i look, which has been a HUGE hurdle for me. Slow and permenant is my goal!

Happy Birthday for four minutes time!

It's great that you're looking at changing your eating habits at such a young age. It's taken me until now to accept that I will have to give some things up to lose weight. You obviously have a mature head on your shoulders Smile

I put on like 3 stone in 2 years when i first moved in with my hubby and i'm trying to reverse it. I felt good at a size 12, now at a 16 i dont like it. My hubby LOVES my curves lol so any smaller than a 12 and poof they are gone!

It's never to late to make a change though, and heck 30 is young!

That's what I keep telling myself Cool

I checked out your cozzie pics. You must have quite good muscle mass as I wouldn't have guessed you to be a combination of that weight and height based on what I could see.

My bloke is concerned about losing 'the guys' *rolls eyes* I, personally, would just like 'the guys' to be comfortable in a bra without it cutting into my back/sides!

hehe yeah i guess i am a bit muscley (used to play rugby as a kid, watersports, cycling.. you name it i did it! Then i got a car....) But playing with my dogs is a handful! One staffy and one staffy cross with endless energy! My friends ask where i hide my weight haha

My man likes my B( o Y o )Bs too hehe, i hope they don't get much smaller!! In a D cup now, dont want to be smaller than a C really.

Eep i am officially no longer a teenager.. does this mean i have to act maturely now haha

You should get some pics up, too :)

I have always loved dogs and hope to get a miniature schnauzer in the next 12 months. I'm really looking forward to it. I have two cats though, so I'm not sure how impressed they'll be.

I was a C before I put on weight but I have an awful feeling that I'll go lower than that once I've lost the weight. They're already getting smaller. I'm dreading loose skin too but hey, at least I'll look great with clothes on!

Re pics. I avoid the camera at all costs so the only ones I have are the nekkid ones and apart from them probably being a site violation, I don't want to put people off their dinners Embarassed

Anyhow, I must go to bed as I have a day of spring cleaning ahead of me tomorrow. We've just finished our extension and there are piles of 'things' all over the place and covered in dust Frown

I hope you have a great birthday! Nighty night.

Any more UK folk then? Come oonnn!
I'm from Northampton!  Been living there for a year but I'm originally from London.  Trying to shift the 2 stone that appeared when I hit my mid twenties!
Count me in... I'm from our delightful little island too! Congrats on moderator status minbin, have you been doing this long? I don't think you were one when we chatted briefly. I love this website!!! And best of all it's free. It's funny how you can normally guess from the posts who's from England, it's the odd little words or the mention of our brands.  There seems to be so much more choice in american supermarkets - I'm jealous! I loved the powdered peanut butter that i bought from there.... mmmm.

Hi to all in the UK, i'm from Barnsley just hit the Big ** can't bring myself to put it down in writing, found too many grey hairs and the extra weight has to go. Goin on holiday in 9 1/2 weeks and don't want greenpeace to drag me back into the water lol

I am not from the UK at all but am visiting London from Sept 10 - 14!  ;)
There's a good reason we don't have many of the things that they do over the pond. It doesn't meet our gov's safety standards
LOL minbin! I guess I have to concede on that one.  They sell some crazy stuff and all their sell by dates seem to go on forever - which def. puts me off
hehe... a friend of mine gets gatorade shipped over from there lol why she does i will never know!
