Looking for Females between 32 and 37 for support from CANADA!!
Hi there,
I have been at this for about 3 weeks now and althoug I started off real motivated, I noticed that I have slowly been slipping away into my old habbits lately. Sinse I have a skinny husband and a skinny son, I get the " you look fine to me" alot. I am 5'5 and 214 lbs so I KNOW I don't look fine. I have lost 6 lbs so far and do sports pretty much every day. I am from Edmonton Alberta and would love to find some support. Anyone interested?
Hi Bianka! I'm in my early thirties and in Lethbridge, Alberta. I can relate to the "you look fine" thing as I clearly didn't look fine when I was 40 pounds heavier since I don't look skinny now!
Thanks susiecue, although they mean well in fact it is almost an insult because you know better. I do have my Husband on board now, he started calorie counting with me (although he cheats alot and still looses weight!) and he is working out with me.
Hi Bianka!
I am 32 and from Calgary. My girlfriend Shannon and I are trying to lose weight together and I don't think I could do it on my own so we'll totally support you! We actually also joined Weight Watchers 1. because it gets us out of the house once a week (we both have little kids) and 2. it helps to know you have a set date every week where someone else is going to weigh you.
I track using calorie counter though to count everything - I find it's much more accurate. I'm down 27.4 pounds so far but am waaaaaaay up since having my second baby. He's almost 2 now and I gained 20 pounds after I had him too, yarg!
My husband only has to stop drinking beer for a week and he loses weight and both my boys are skinny too. Of course, I would be too if I only ate as much as they do (nothing! They are weird eaters). I find having kids is the worst part in terms of weight loss since my husband is always wanting to go to DQ or Marble Slab or something similar with the kids. Plus my job requires me to eat out pretty much every day (and can you believe we're having marble slab at a client's office this week - how am I going to survive that?!).
Anyhoo we're here for support and encouragement.
I'm outside of your age range, but I do live in Edmonton.
Well it is super important to have someone on your side that gives you that little extra push when you need it and makes you go beyond your limits just that little bid more. I know what you mean about the guys just having to eliminate one thing and they shed the pounds. It is infectious though, my hubby at first did nothing and now he is counting calories and working out, although we work out seperately because of our jobs. I try to enjoy the outdoors as much as I can. Since I have so much to loose it sometimes becomes hard because I wish the weight would just fall off between today and tommorow, off course that is not possible and I need to go 1 pound at the time. I don't set an overall goal but I know where I should be at. I set weekly goals and that is good enough for me for now.
Congrats on the 27 lb weight loss that is quite the accomplishment. I use to be on weight watchers and love it but I went back to my old ways and the 30 lbs that I lost came back. I was wondering if the points match up with the amount of calories you are suppose to be eating?
Hi Buggyhair,
Its good to see someone else on here from Edmonton. What are your goals, how long have you been doing this and what have you lost so far. Do you go to a gym and which one? I just work out from home right now. I am glad that you read my post.
I've been here just over one year and have lost just over 40 pounds. I exercise at home mostly (videos, treadmill, free weights). I also walk or ride a bike everyday (year round).
wow thats impressive. Congrats on your 40 lb weight loss, I hope some day I can say the same. You bike all year around, wow not sure how you do it in the freezing cold. what kind of videos do you work out to? Anyone that you recommend?
Try doing Jari Love videos. They are compound weights. I like her Ripped 1000 video (compound weights & mixed fast paced cardio moves using a step).
i don't meet the age criteria either (i'm 41), but i'm in vancouver and i've lost about 36 pounds (i'm actually below my original goal weight now!).
the age thing doesn't really matter that much I guess. Thanks for the Post and congrats to you to on the big weight loss.. I am just starting this journey so I am suppose to reach that goal by next summer but I have a feeling that 70 lbs are going to take a bid longer than that. Either that or I have no patiance.. 6 lbs in three weeks seems slow for someone like me that has so much weight to loose. How long did it take you guys to loose your weight?
heh - you probably don't want to know how long it took me! the first 25 or so came of very sporadically and very slowly: i averaged about a pound a month! then i hit a plateau in the low 140s and stayed there for about a year and a half. i finally dropped the last of it (14 pounds in three weeks) after i had major surgery last month. that was a little scary, actually. i've gained about four of those back, and now i'm holding steady at 131-133ish.
i hope i can maintain it....
there's absolutely nothing wrong with two pounds a week. 1% a week is about the max you should aim for; anything more than that, and your odds of regaining go up.
I need some support too! I'm 36, from north of Edmonton, have 2 small girls, and my DH works away from home 3 weeks out of the month, needless to say most of my day is spent stuck in the house taking care of my girlies.
I just returned from holidays, and when I left was 196...I swore I wouldn't go over the 200 mark...I came home 198...lol. SO, now that my baby's are 1 and 3 I figure it's time to get the weight off. I have the P90X system, and the workouts are really great...I haven't done much more than the introduction CD though..LOL. Kudos to all of you for losing the weight...it's not easy I know...I lost 50 lbs before I was married, and then had kids :). I have slowly gained 70 pounds :( I would like to lose 60 pounds over the next year.
Hello, my fellow Canadians.
Toronto checking in here. ![]()
I'm 42½ and am almost halfway through my weight loss journey. I started on January 5th weighing 297 lbs. I completely revamped my eating, joined a gym, and hired a personal trainer (best decision that I have made to date!). I've lost 68 lbs so far and have about 75 to go.
I was a bit concerned because I was losing so quickly, but I know that I've been eating extremely healthly foods. I'm sure it's just the drastic change in food and the complete commitment to exercise that has allowed me to progress so quickly.
I fully expect that the last 75 or so will come off much more slowly and I'm okay with that. I've found that making sensible goals has really helped. For example, one of mine was to be able to play with my 2½ year old nephew without having to take rest breaks because I was sweating so much and breathing so heavily. Another was to be able to hold the plank position for one minute. Another still was to forgive myself if I slipped or was less than perfect. (I've always been too hard on myself, but I know that I'm not alone there...)
Enjoy the daily changes--more energy, less aching, sleeping better--because these are successes and you will do yourself a world of good if you celebrate each and every one.
Wishing you...and everyone...good health and much happiness.
