looking for a group of people to check in with- but I don't have a creative title to draw you in

Like many others I am trying to get healthy (and lose weight as a side effect Laughing).... I was hoping to find some people that would like to group together and support each other through this (I know there are other groups out there, but it seems as though they have already established a bond... plus if groups get too big, they are hard to keep up with) to share the ups the downs, to create motivating mini challenges and just plain check in.....

anyone interested?

me: age: 29 (not for much longer though Cry)

      height: 5'6"ish weight 156 goal 138....

Hey There,

While I don't need to lose weight I will most definitely motivate you when you're feeling like a "failure" or want to quit!! Laughing

Oh and by the way... 30 is the new 22! (Especially when you get to your goal weight!)

Hey Slimby30. I feel your pain. I turned 30 last year and was totally freaking out about it so I made it my goal to get in the best shape of my life by the time I turned 30. Now I'm 31 and I'm even in better shape than last year and it keeps getting better. Haha. I am on CC daily and can help you along with Giasbash.

Let's talk more about your goals, not just your weight goal but what are you trying to accomplish long term (clothes size, muscle tone, body fat, stamina and endurance, etc...)? There is so much more to a wellness plan than just a GW or how you look, and I know you know that, but to get to where you feel good in your skin, you need to approach this from every angle and know where you want to be when you are 40(eek), 50 (double eeek), and even 60 and beyond. If you do it right, you will look really good and be extremely healthy for a very long time. Perhaps you already have a plan, and if so, please share it.

I still need support and motivation too. You'd think that it would be easier once you hit your GW, but the truth is, I am always looking for reasons to maintain my GW now, which sometimes can be just as hard as losing. I have many roadblocks such as stress and binging and other crap that try to stand in the way of my goals, but with help from my CC friends, I know I can push through them. Good luck!!

I'm in!

I have always slacked in the motivation (I have been off and on CC since June 2008).  What do you mean by "heathly"?  My healthy goal includes a balanced diet(I use the food group ratios on mypyramid.gov) with balanced excersize- cardio, flexability  ;and strength training.

When I started on CC in June 2008, my diet was disgusting and I almost never exercized.  I have made a lot of progress in the last 1+ year in my diet, and I am now an on-and-off gymer.  I really want this to be a life-long habit-without all the lazy spirts(I also regress in my diet when I stop working out).

My short-term goal is to lose 10-15lbs and get toned before June 2010-for my wedding day :)

I'd love to join in too!  I also have been on here on and off for a few years now.  About three years ago I lost about 50 pounds, but for some reason stopped.  Never finished to get to my GW.  I did quit smoking though, a feat I am quite proud of.  My husband and I are going on a cruise at the end of the January for my golden birthday (30!) and our five year anniversary (which was in August), so I'd like to lose 20-30 pounds and be really close to my GW by then.  I think that is reasonable.  I want to be at my goal by May.  Which I may adjust come January, depending on how much I lose between now and then.

My struggle is the gym.  I don't know what I do wrong, but I was working out about five days a week every week for 3+ months and did not lose AT ALL (and yes, I was paying attention to my diet too).  I was much more toned and in really, really good shape and my clothes did fit better, so it wasn't all for nothing.  I realized though that I may have been working out too hard so am trying to adjust that this time.  I used to work out a lot, ran, etc. so I think I need to realize I am not 120 pounds anymore and need to change my training routine.  Suggestions welcomed for that. Smile

Congrats on quitting smoking!  I am actually planning to quit on Monday.  How long has it been?  How did you do it?  Did you gain weight?

As for the gym, what were you doing?

I want to join this group too.

First, and most important thing about me is that, I hate working out. I feel it is a personal type of hell. I must keep sinning everyday, because I don't seem to be able to get away from it.

Second, although I hate working out, I do it. I give it my all. Get sweaty, tired, sored. I curse it, whenever I manage to breathe, but I get it done.

Third, I try to eat clean, and I am not into starving myself to reach weight loss. I need to eat. Sometimes I am more hungry than other times, so I try to follow my hunger healthily, rather than a number all the time. I mean, something got to give!

My biggest problem is that I get bored and discouraged easily. I must constantly challenge myself or I fall off the wagon. I want it to be a lifestyle, something that comes natural not something I have to work at.

I am a 5'3 Latina with fat in all the wrong places! Yell

SW: 190 (since about three years ago)

CW: 177.4

CGW: 165

FGW: 135, this is my final goal weight, but at the moment I am focus on losing 10-15 pounds, once reached I'll continue from there.

sorry guys! I thought this was a dead try-  I didn't see that people had answered- guess I should pay attention!

Thanks for responding!!

mfonzie- my main goal is to like or better yet love myself- shoot, at least respect myself... I've got a little of the blahs... GW is really only a way to get me to do the stuff that can change my mentality.... I would like to be toned and in good enough shape that that if someone were to say: hey, we are doing a 10k next week, want to join? and I actually could.

Consistency is my first big goal.... so good to hear that your freak out turned out well :)

Hmmmfood- Congrats on the upcoming wedding! Sounds like you have a great plan going

mrsg- awesome 50 lbs loss! And I also congratulate you on quitting smoking- no easy task!!

Karmin- sounds like you are doing great! I like working out when I get a good routine going and good music- is it the workout you do that you don't like or just don't think you can find anything you like? I am with you on not starving for weight loss!

"My biggest problem is that I get bored and discouraged easily. I must constantly challenge myself or I fall off the wagon. I want it to be a lifestyle, something that comes natural not something I have to work at."

I quote this because that could have been written by me....

I hope I didn't lose you all with my lack of attention....

So clearly we all have motivational issues.  How about some sort of challange to keep us coming back?

haha- that is so true!

A challange sounds good- anything in mind? (maybe we should start small??)

Starting small is perfect!  Perhaps a challage for number of times we visit the gym in a week(setting our own goals, of course)?  I am open to ideas though!

I could get down with that... maybe do that one week, another week sticking with food goals and then add both together or add on each week?

I love the idea of a challenge too!

hmmfood - thank you for that about the quitting smoking.  It was a huge accomplishment.  And honestly, I just up and quit.  I hated how it was making me feel and it was contributing to panic attacks, so I was tired of those.  My wonderful husband quit with me, which also helped a lot.  With some of my meds, I couldn't really use any of the patches or lozenges or anything, so we decided to use Dum Dums.  Worked like a charm.  The first few days were the toughest, and I will admit, still now, almost three years later (will be three years January 1 - a resolution I stuck with!), I still think every now and then, I want a cig.  Then I catch myself and say "what the he!! are you thinking!"  LOL.  I always reminded myself how I made X number of days and I don't want to do that again.  We also put a lot of effort into working up to our quit day.  Had the day picked out, didn't cut back or anything like that, and then that day, we quit.  I used a website to track my days, but other than that and the Dum Dums, that was it.  I wish you much luck!  It is the worst thing a person can start and best thing they can quit.  IMO. :)

I did gain some weight, probably like 10 pounds.  But I didn't care.  I told myself I'd take the 10 and be smoke free the rest of my life.  I didn't worry about the weight gain either.  I focused on it being a positive to get rid of a negative, if that makes sense.

The gym round one (what I was doing, LOL):  Cardio - mostly elliptical, resistance setting 25-30 for 30-50 mins a night, probably 5x a week.  I also did the treadmill, alternating running for a minute, then walking for a few mins, for about 40 mins.  We lifted weights as well, 2-3 times per week - 30 mins of cardio on those nights as well.

I almost forgot - figured I could share my success for the week - lost two pounds!  Cool

Last week I started by journalling and set five (SMALL!) goals for myself for the week.  Each could certainly do less or the same or more too.  Example of mine:

1.  Throw out all bad foods in the house -Grocery shop for healthy foods, fill the house!

2.  Plan a menu, every meal and snack for every day, for a week

3.  No snacking after dinner

4.  Work out 3x at the gym

5.  Average 1500 calories/day

I didn't make the 3x at the gym one, but since I had five and met four, I felt really proud of myself.  So for me it was positive since I didn't have just one goal that I didn't make, but I can see how for others, that might work better.  Just wanted to share what was positive for me.

Ok, perhaps a weighted challange for each area we are individually working on?  For example, you get 10 pts for every time you hit the gym(10 X 7= 70 max pts), 10 pts for every day you hit 1500 cals(10 X 7=70 max pts), etc?  And then 10 pts for each personal goal you hit?  Just an idea...

oh math people- love to hate them ;) (only because I am bad with numbers!!)

That sounds like a good idea!

i would love to join!!! im new so i need lots of motivations , new ideas&techniques also. .. battled weight my whole life&damnit im tired of it!
