So fellow 'burghers...what is your goal weight?  What are you looking to lose? For me...

Starting weight: 275

Current weight: 199.6

Goal weight: 175

Ideal weight in my mind: 160

Once I hit 175 I think I'm going to take a little break...up my calories a bit and allow my body to adjust to the new me.  What are you guys thinking?

I'm 5'6", by the by, and I don't know what I'll look like if I reach 155.  I think there was about ten minutes when I hit puberty that I weighed that, and after that it was all up over the years.  I'll be interested to see the new me XD

I guess right now I'm taking a break - I was pretty sick for a couple weeks, didn't exercise much, ate at about maintenance, and it seems to have broken a plateau I was on.  I want to jump back in, but I'm so comfy here it's hard to make the leap :)

Looks like you're doing really well...keep up the good work!

Decided in Dec 08 that i had had enough of carrying this excess weight around and went to a seminar for bariatric surgery. Visited the surgeon in Jan and was put on a 1800 cal/day diet. I also started pushing myself off the couch to get some damn exercise! Things are going great so far (26 lbs in 1 1/2 mos) but I know that inevitable 'wall' is coming where it seems you just can't lose anything no matter what you do.

Hoping to prove myself by losing 40 - 50 lbs on my own. If I succeed, I think I will opt out of having the surgery.

Wow - you are doing awesome!!!!! Hard to imagine you are going to need the surgery. I work in healthcare and realize that some people need to have the surgery in order to lose, but there are so many risks and side effects (long term) that some people develop that I would try to go without it. For the first time in my life, I have been losing every week. I am scared too that I will hit the wall. I know it will happen, but I plan to increase my exercise (which I have been doing anyway) to get over it. I also hope to join a gym in the spring/summer and maybe I will get a session or 2 with a personal trainer to get over any hurdles. I want this weight off, finally and forever!!!!!

Would love to get there, need to rediscover the motivation I had last year when I was on Weight Watchers.  I got tired of the points and a friend directed me to CC.  I love being able to just eat and log.

I have restarted after a lag and am trying to motivate myself with the fact that since I was in college I have lost two sizes.

I hope to continue with my excercise and eating better.  So I have given myself a realistic goal of 15 pounds before summer that would put me a little lower than the weight I was last July...yes, I have gained  some but kept most off.

Good Luck everyone. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

goal weight-somewhere around 130

but don't want to just be 130 and flabby.  i'm 146 and still a bit flabby.  i want some firmness and tone.

I will be starting my diet in one week.  My husband and I are working on a diet and exercise plan that will hopefully work for me with a bad back.  I have a stationary bike that we bought on craigslist that is awesome and also got a workout ball and an outfit and some stretchout tools.  My main problem will be food.  I LOVE food and I know I will find it difficult to control myself as far as what I should and shouldn't eat.  I hope to be able to make friends here eventually that I can help support and can support me back.  That is a main goal for me on this site.  I love it!  Like melis73, I'm a little flabby and when I lose the weight I will be moreso.  I'll just have to find some exercises that can help tone me up, too. Smile

I'm almost 55 and have gone through the weight gain/loss cycles many times.  Peak to peak is about 3 years for me.  My starting weight this time is the highest it's ever been unfortunately.   I think this is due to less activity.  I've had a lot of orthopedic issues that have kept me from being as active as I used to be just a few years ago (I used to run marathons).  But, I'm still trying to keep moving and I'm trying to get my knees to the point where I can be more active (I think I'm headed for surgery on at least one of my knees).

My current mantra is "50 pounds in 50 weeks."  I'm trying to stick to about 1800 calories a day.  So far it seems to be working.   I know that I will probably have to religiously count calories the rest of my life to break the gain/loss cycles that have been my history.  But that's okay with me.

I'm going to the Pirate game tomorrow, a place where I traditionally overeat and eat food that's not healthy.  Tomorrow will be a good test.  I think I'll pass it.

Although calorie counter says my goal is 153...we will see.  That's what I sorta weighed in HS and not sure what is where I want to be now.

My short term goal is 300 by 11/1 and 280 by Jan 7th(my birthday).  I would love more but I am trying to stay realistic!

We will see!!!

Thanks for listening!
