5'7"... looking to lose ~25lbs... I can't do it without your help!!
Hi ladies (or guys too??)!!
I'm in some serious need of help: everytime I try to start dieting, I end up thinking "why can't I eat food just like everybody else?" and then I start eating food LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE (and in that I mean, those really skinny girls with metabolisms that burn like the flames in hell...)
Soooo... I need to know that there are people out there in my same boat so that I will have more motivation to stick to it! I am just 5 lbs shy of being overweight and I really need to lose the weight not only for health motivations but also for my self-esteem!
Current Weight: 155lbs
Goal Weight: 130lbs
please help me!! I saw in some other waaaayy too long posts that people were posting mini successes so I'd like to do that too!
Mini-success of the day: umm none... today was a pretty bad day. How did I manage to eat 2,700 kcal!?!?
Next time you think about taking a trip to the goody cabinet take a five minute walk instead. If you say "I am at work" think about the time it takes to get the snack, eat, lick your fingers and proceed with what you were working on it's probably been about 20 minutes.. Chances are you are snacking because you are bored with work, or need a break.
Fill up your time with activity and you will spend less time eating and thinking about food.
Start a daily exercise plan. I roller blade or walk with my pups every day , and I just got onto a home working out program.
I know it's frustrating, but you have to keep at it and it will happen.
And what in the world did you eat today?
Thanks for the tips! I'm actually a student though, so what kills my motivation is that my friends pig out like crazy and I'm the only one that kind of eating affects!!
I've just got to learn that just because I diet well one day, it doesn't mean I'll be thin the next day....
and oooh boy the list goes on and on of what I ate today... basically I just fell into the temptations presented by our dining hall...
the worst offenders where the 5 slices of banana bread I ate, the too many tablespoons of peanut butter, and the sporadic snacking of cereal... oh carbs how I love thee :(
I have the same issue.. iam student and I am 155lbs and trying to lose 25-30 lbs..and i love carbs!!!!!!!! wow we have the same problem but what i did is that i told all my friends that i am dieting and asked for their support, so when they wanted to go eat junk food or fattening food, i would just go for a run or go somewhere where there is not any temptation. I know its hard but just focus on your goal and where you wanna be.
Its harder when you eat at the cafe, so limit your visits to the cafe as much as possible or go there when its not crowded, because when there are more people I tend to feel like eating like them.
I hope this helps :)
Hi Oceanbabe,
Actually, at 5'7" and 155 lbs., that should put you on the high end of the "normal" range. I'm 5'7" as well, and I have a TARGET weight of 150. I'm now within a few pounds of that goal and can't imagine trying to loose to 130 lbs. (But then again, I think I've got more muscle than most young women, which makes me weigh more.) But, take a look at what you actually should weigh.
And then try to resist those bad college snack foods: pizza, popcorn, ice cream, etc. I've discovered Quaker Cheddar Cheese flavored rice snacks; they are low cal and I think I like them so much because they taste like Cheetos! They have different flavors too. Baby carrots are good to have around too; next to no calories and you still get that crunch that is so satisfying.
But, don't totally give up on the treats. If you try too hard to stay away from the food you really like, it'll drive you crazy and you'll end up miserable. Just eat them sparingly, and treat them as the treat they are instead of a main part of your diet.
Good luck!
