14 and looking to lose weight

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everybody. I'm really new to this website but it has EVERYTHING! I'm 14, and have heart problems and weight issues in the family. I'm 131 pounds right now and my height is 5'5 almost 5'6. I'm just here to really get down to those last few pounds. (  :

hey,i'm also 14 and i am 5'2 and 141.2 pounds. my main goal in 115. but my mini goal for now is 135. good luck! you can do it, (:

You are 14, 5'5 to 5'6 weighing 131, you are right at the weight you need to be, if not too thin.  Especially because you said your family has heart problems, you need to be careful at losing too much weight.  You also need to realize that if you do some of these crazy diets at your age, you may be depriving your body of the nutrition it needs to completely grow and develop like you are supposed to.  If you look at all the body mass scales according to height and weight, along with your BMI, you should be at the very low end if not under where you should be.

Just as Lisa said, it's not something you should worry about. I'm the same age, with very, very similar genes. People are built differently- don't judge yourself by your weight, unless you think your eating and exercising habits are unhealthy. I have several friends who insist on dieting or starving themselves, and they're already getting sick. I'm on here because my eating habits are quite ghastly, despite my pretty ok metabolism. I think that eating and excercising should be focus points rather than weight/height ration- especially since muscle also has weight (something this site doesnt factor in real well- I don't necessarily want to lose weight, just fat and to become fit). Hope I helped!

Just be careful that you're not pushing yourself too hard and getting a distorted body image of yourself. Ask your doctor, if he/she says your weight is fine, IT IS.
