Looking for 10 people who would like to lose 10-15 pounds?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all!  I'm 5'1" and weigh 122 pounds. I'm looking to lose approximately 15 pounds to get down to my pre-marriage weight.......(they say you gain weight from a happy marriage!)

I'd love to start a group of young, motivated individuals looking to lose 10-15 pounds......weekly weigh-ins....menu ideas.....all ideas welcome!

Let's try to keep this group small and dedicated!
Hi!

I'm 20 years old 5'4" & 127-128 lbs.

I want to get back down to 115 lbs. & I've had this goal for two years now :( If I can just stay deticated I know I would be so happy.

Good Luck Everyone!

I hear you on the water/running to the loo :/ Tips for weddings ... if it's a buffet fill up on salad ... dance a LOT ... wear lip gloss that you don't want to mess up with food ... offer to run errands on foot ...

Pokeme if you can't sleep at night the exercise might really help with that, provided you don't gt your heart rate up too close to bedtime.

pokeme, My best friend has the WiiFit and I try to use it whenever I'm by her house.  It's kinda what got me started into losing the weight.  It's more of a motivational tool than a real workout, but you have a lot of fun while doing it.  I do recommend it to get yourself started and in the mood.

As it is Friday, I shall post my stats.  I'm 19 years old, 5'1" (the doc says 5'0 3/4" but I'm in denial Smile)

SW: 147, CW: 136, GW: 120

GW by Labor Day: 125 (I'll start small)

I hope to get out and run/jog more.  I also have a stationary bike that I use.  I have a few questions for you guys.  What are some good arm and tummy exercises and how many reps do you do?  I really want to lose this weight, so I figure a good allaround workout would really help me.  Any suggestions are appreciated!

Vegetariangeek!!! We meet again! See, we have those CC twin vibes going!

does anyone get really sore the day after from running? should i take a day off or continue running the next day?

So, it being our first Friday, here are my stats:

CW: 124!!!!! (I just realized I lost two pounds!!!!! and that wasn't from a morning weigh in so, it might actually be lower!)

GW: 115

GW by labor day: 118

My plan: zig zagging between 1400-1800 cals/day with at least a 500 calorie deficit.

My usual exercise involves running between 1-2.5 miles per day and working on abs and strengthening my core with a pilates dvd.

On some days, I hike or climb steps in place of the running, but I try to do abs daily (try is the operative word, lol!)

Subwaybusker,

I run almost everyday and I think that when i started I may have been sore but after a while, the soreness goes away. I recommend going for a hard run one day and maybe a jog/walk on the days you're sore until your body gets used to it. After a while, you'll be able to run through the soreness.

Here's some advice: I started training with my friends' marathon training team (I don't plan to run the marathon but I wanted to see if I could handle the training) and the way they do it is they run 5 minutes and walk 1 minute, run 5 walk 1, and they keep this up for about 1 1/2 hours two days per week. After a few weeks they'll increase the amount of time we run but for now, that's where we 're at and it makes it really manageable. I'm not a good runner but I can run for 5 minutes and not get too tired so this plan is fantastic for starters. Let me know if you try it out.

CW: 135 (I think my scale is off, so I'm gonna double check tonight with my friend's digital scale; oh and Aunt Flow's almost here, so bloating might be added this week -_-)

GW: 120

So as far as arm and tummy exercises...

I can only tell you what I do, but I hope it's helpful. I look on youtube for ab exercises and follow them, here's one I like:

For arms, I think the best thing to do is use your own body weight and do push-ups, chair presses, and use resistance bands (they're really great). If I do use weights, i stick to no more than 10lbs. and do multiple reps. You can really hurt yourself if you don't lift weights correctly and I don't know the correct way to lift, so i stick to light weight with lots of reps.

So we are doing Friday weigh-ins then? Ok...

SW: 125 CW: 115 (went up from 113.5 in 3 weeks!) GW by Labor Day: 110ish

And so the wedding marathons begin. I had fully intended to do 30mins on the bike before getting ready but having family around is playing hell on my sleep patterns. I shall have to do it in the evening I guess. Am not looking forward to my calorie intake meter today!

Best of luck all :)

Yes! I would love to participate in this group. I just started counting calories on July 19th and have been exercising daily. I started weighing in at 134 pounds. My goal is to size down to 122 pounds. The truth is that I have been working out on the treadmill in my garage for the passed month but my weight has not moved, so I felt it was time to start looking into how much I eat and here I am ready to start.

flutterbykisses

while most of wii fit i agree isnt a "workout" some of the stuff really is. Like I love the hula hoops and I unlocked the I think its either 10 or 15 minutes. 10 or 15 minutes of swinging your hips around really does get your heart rate up and you feel it in your abs the next day

the running isnt bad either

but if you just do stuff like the balance games, then yeah, more fun than workout

Pcarpintero! We are mind twins too?

OK, so yesterday I was 125.8.  I don't think 0.2lbs in two weeks is a very significant change so I need to change something else! I'm going to try 1200-1300 cals for the next four days plus a half hour of cardio EVERY day and hopefully be in the 124 zone by Friday.

It's soooo good to see someone my height who's goal weight is NOT 110!!! I'm currently 131 and would like to get down to 120!!!  I'm trying to get out and walk more lol but I hate exercising!!! About how many cals do you eat daily? I'm trying to adjust mine because I've been stuck at the same weight for a few weeks lol. Maybe we can exchange tips since we have the same goals!!!Cool Best of luck to you!!!

Oh I know, seeing someone with the same stats is really quite comforting.  I was always thinking, why is my weight so high compared to theirs?  But it only makes me more motivated to lose it. Smile C-C is telling me I should eat about 1700 calories daily, but I usually eat around 1500-1600.  I'm still working on good eating habits, but I'm slowly getting there.  I've always been a light eater, so eating 1700's a little difficult.  As far as exercise goes, I'm trying to keep up some routines and so far, I'm doing okay.  It's just frustrating that you can't see results right away.  And I'll gladly exchange tips.  Best of luck to you too! Laughing

hey all, just thought i'd post this morning's weigh-in

start weigh-in: 125, 26.3%bf

this week's weigh-in: 123.6, 26.2%bf

i'm curious as to how all of you are doing, KEEP WORKING HARD EVERYBODY!

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhhh!!!! I had such an awful weekend!!! I totally went over my calorie limit on Saturday. I went to a "pie party"!!!! Hello? WTF?! It was a friends b-day and she doesn't like cake instead she asked people to bring pie and pie is what they brought... about 15 different types!!! I had a small sliver of strawberry cream and a small sliver of apple but this was after a full dinner and in combo with a few glasses of wine!!! I feel like such a heffer today. I tried my best to eat on the lower spectrum of my calorie intake yesterday and I'm doing the same today. I think I'm going to try to stay between 1200-1400 (I usually consume between 1600-1800) for a few more days to even myself out. On the bright side I did bike to the party and it was about 4 miles round-trip. Doubt I burned off the pies, but it was a start. I'm running today for sure... I can't believe I ate pie :( We'll see what I've done to myself at this Fridays weigh in.

I was soooo good on Saturday.  Got up early, walked to the market and back (50 minutes round trip, and loaded up with groceries on the way back), put everything away and then cleaned my house for half an hour (I consider this cardio because I speed-clean while rocking out to dance music).  Then I cooked - lentil soup and a nice low-fat spaghetti sauce.  I ate beautifully all day - oatmeal, lentil soup, a couple of slices of whole grain bread, a tiny bit of popcorn, green salad and fruit and about 3 litres of water.  I also went for another good walk after supper.

Yesterday I totally failed.  I started off badly - no time for breakfast, so I had a granola bar.  Lunch was brown rice pasta with the low-fat sauce but I didn't measure anything so no idea what the calorie content was (I feel like I ate a double portion and was stuffed afterward).  Around 3pm I started to give into a potato chip craving, restricting myself to two handfuls, and immediately brushing my teeth and getting out of the house after that - but! I went to a friend's house thinking I'd be safe and her very depressed grandmother was there and guilted me into eating cake ... all "if you don't eat my cake it's because you hate me and I have no reason to live."  I seriously have a double chin after that.

Today started off with a granola bar too (and I was STILL late for work) but I have packed lentil soup and green salad for lunch, so fingers crossed ...

I was great this whole weekend, until auntie flow arrived early Sunday.  I figured that would be my day off for exercising because of all the cramping, but today I was so lazy that I ate very crappily and didn't exercise much at all.  I'm really hoping tomorrow will be better and I can get back on my motivational track.

Well, just allow yourself one day to actually be RELAXED and that might help a lot!
