Looking for 10 people who would like to lose 10-15 pounds?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all!  I'm 5'1" and weigh 122 pounds. I'm looking to lose approximately 15 pounds to get down to my pre-marriage weight.......(they say you gain weight from a happy marriage!)

I'd love to start a group of young, motivated individuals looking to lose 10-15 pounds......weekly weigh-ins....menu ideas.....all ideas welcome!

Let's try to keep this group small and dedicated!

I agree, one day of f***ing up isn't so bad if you recover in time and get back on track. After my pie feast on Saturday I've cut my calories down and upped the exercise and that's how I plan on finishing up the week. Hopefully I see a drop in weight or I at least stay the same by Friday.

Motivation ... I'm not at an unhealthy weight, so even if I didn't try to lose 10lbs, it probably wouldn't have an adverse effect on my health.  Sometimes I feel like looking fitter will just make everything in my life better, even though I know that's not really true.  I do know that getting some exercise will put me in a more positive and more self-caring mood so I'm determined to do some NOW ... I feel like it makes me make more positive decisions about life.

I definitely hear that.  My motivation's dropped this week, though.  I've hardly worked out at all.  I also just realized I'm an emotional eater thanks to a certain someone lately, so I have to keep an eye out for that.  I have to get back in gear, but I just feel so lazy this week...

Has anyone else heard of this? I just found out about "Couch-to-5K", it's a 6-week online course that trains you to run 3 miles (5K) with ease. I started it on Monday and I think it's fantastic. I just started enjoying running for exercise recently and I like that I can do it with my dogs. I mentioned it before but I've been training for the Long Beach marathon (not to run, just for the pro exercise and advice) and a lot of what I have already learned in the the few weeks training, are in this Couch-to-5K course. If you can find 20 minutes per day, you'll be well on your way to running 3 miles (or more!!). Check it out:

Keep this thread alive!

I think there are some couch-to-5k groups on these forums.

Flutterby, you're an emotional eater because of another person?

Veggiegeek, I think occasionally I'm an emotional eater.  It only happens when I get really upset.  Lately, it's because I still really care about him (my ex, yet still trying to remain best friends; definitely NOT easy), so there are times where we've talked and I've gotten really, really upset because I miss him and stuff like that.  Then, I got into one of those I-don't-care-I'm-having-ice-cream moods.  I have to try to combat it; either by subbing in healthy snacks or just avoiding comfort food.

Don't let this thread die!

I didn't have time to do my Friday weigh in last week, so here is this mornings stats.

CW:128 :(

I slacked big time this week. I was busy with planning my engagement party and hardly found time to exercise, however I didn't eat poorly. Oh well, I'll just keep moving forward.

It seems like we've lost a few peeps, huh? Well that's okay. The four or five of us still here is more than enough.

What is everyone doing for your workout today?

I plan on running/walking about 2 miles with my dogs and then focusing on my abs for at lest 20 minutes.

Is anyone in the L.A. area????? I'd love to find some workout buddies.

Whatever happens let's keep each other motivated!!!

How is everyone doing?????

I'm still here trying to keep this thread alive. I for one have not given up.

I have to admit, I ate pretty heavy today so far. I ate leftover fetuccini alfredo for breakfast and a bagel and cream cheese for lunch. Grrrrrrrr!!!! I did go on a 3 mile walk with my dogs this morning but that's hardly exercise. My plan is to run after work today even if it's only a few blocks and I gotta do my ab routine... haven't been able to find the motivation lately. I'll keep whoever is still out there posted and I hope you do the same.

hey, i haven't given up yet either. yesterday i did pretty well. i'm hoping the trend will continue. have strength training planned for today, not doing much cardio these days cause i want to lose fat through weights and such. definitely keep me posted pcarpintero! =)

I haven't given up either, although I'm still trying to get back into motivation to workout.  I'm eating fine and moving around the house preparing boxes and stuff for college, so I suppose I'm not inactive.

I'm so excited to go back to college, it should make me want to workout more...  Maybe I'll dance around to my music to get myself in the mood.

I've been a little stressed lately, not posting too much and not doing as well with the healthy eating, but REALLY trying to do better.  My favourite thing is dancing like an idiot to loud music, but only when I have the place to myself, which I don't right now (which is part of why I'm stressed).  Back to school is a good motivator though!  Hope you three, and whoever else is stil lurking, are able to stick to your goals this week!

I'm looking at getting into some form of gym routine when I get back to school.  The gyms there are amazing, and I might even get back into swimming.  That's definitely a great workout!

is eating 4 pieces of Godiva chocolate sticking to my goals? Aaarrrgh!!! I don't know what's wrong with me these days! I've been really careless and indulgent. I didn't run today, but I've been going on these long walks with my dogs, 3 miles yesterday and 6 miles today. No abs though but the night is still young. I'll let you all know if I actually do my crunches. I'm planning out my meals for tomorrow right now, hopefully I can stick to the program. I don't have work tomorrow, so working out will be much easier.

If you didn't do your crunches last night do them NOW!! Seriously, get off the computer and do them!!!

Flutterby, lucky you to have great gyms!  I was so intimidated by the univ gyms my first couple of years but after a while felt like kicking myself for not taking advantage of them. Working out actually helps you study better too - really improves your concentration, and, come exam time, that kind of blood flow/heart rate increasing is WAY better than caffeine and sugar that most students rely on.

Subwaybusker are you still sticking to it?

Hi all,

Hope you all had a great day. So, I did end up working out my abs last night and I was really active today. I went hiking in the morning with my dogs, it's about a 2 1/2 mile hike and then in the afternoon I went on a mile long run with them and came home and worked my abs. I still want to do some arm exercises before knocking out, but all in all, I had a great workout. I also ate much better today:

breakfast

1/2 pita with 1 tbsp organic peanut butter

a cup of diced watermelon and a cup of raspberries

lunch

the other 1/2 of pita with 2 slices of deli turkey meat

1/2 cup of raspberries (we bought a pallet from Costco, so I've been eating raspberries like crazy before they spoil!)

a cup of noodle soup which was 1.5 g of fat and 130 cals.

snack

handful of air popped popcorn

skinny cow icecream pop 80 cal./ 1 g fat

handful of fresh cauliflower (one of my favs)

dinner

homemade chicken burrito using a whole wheat fat free tortilla and some left over chicken that I cut up and heated. I added a green salsa and black beans. It was pretty delish!

I had dinner pretty early, around 4:30, so I'm sure I'll want a snack before going to bed. I grow my own tomatoes and cucumbers so I plan on dicing those up with some balsamic and that'll be my snack.

No Godiva today!!! The future looks bright!!

So I asked this before but I didn't get a response, do any of you live in LA? I'm looking for a serious workout buddy.

I'm scared for tomorrows weigh in but I'm starting to feel optimistic about getting into a serious workout mode again. I really lost it for about two weeks there. Well, I hope you all did well today. I'll talk to you soon.

pcarp, unfortunately, I'm all the way in NJ.  I would've gladly been your workout buddy.  I need to kick myself back into gear.

I'll weigh myself tonight when I get to my friend's house (she's got a digital scale).  After two weeks of not working out, I'm kind of afraid to look at the number.

I'll let you guys know!  We can keep this up!

yep vegetariangeek, i'm still here. just came back from the gym. i ran for 2 miles...but it took me 30 minutes. for some reason i have a lot of trouble with running. i can cruise for an hour on the elliptical no problem, but when it comes to running, i get exhausted after 30 seconds.

i had a pretty good workout yesterday too, treadmill for cardio and a bit of weight training. eating hasn't been too good though...and by the way, how are the univ gyms like? i'm moving into college this fall and i'm so afraid that it won't be as well-equipped as the Y, which is what i'm used to.

 keep me posted guys! :)

The univ gyms are normally pretty good (when you get there at a non-packed time and can actually get a treadmill -_- ).  I really like it there.  The current campus I'm living on has a pool, so I'm hoping to take advantage of that this year.  I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

CW: 135

Funny how I ate horribly this week, didn't work out at all and I stayed the same weight as last time, maybe even lost a pound...  I don't get it, but hey, I'll take it!  I definitely plan to get back on the ball this week though.

I got my motivation back!  I DROPPED A JEANS SIZE! Laughing Went from a 9 to a 7!
