Looking for 10 people who would like to lose 10-15 pounds?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all!  I'm 5'1" and weigh 122 pounds. I'm looking to lose approximately 15 pounds to get down to my pre-marriage weight.......(they say you gain weight from a happy marriage!)

I'd love to start a group of young, motivated individuals looking to lose 10-15 pounds......weekly weigh-ins....menu ideas.....all ideas welcome!

Let's try to keep this group small and dedicated!

Hey guys,

I had a thought just now... and you all tell me what you think...

Would you all be interested in a little "challenge" to kind of spice up our workouts?

This is what I was thinking and everyone's input and suggestions are fully welcomed. What if we created a minimum workout plan and at the very least all we have to do per day is complete our minimum workout. And it won't matter in what order you do the workout, just as long as you do it, just as long as we all do it.

I feel like as this group that we've created, we need to push ourselves more and encourage each other to get out and be active. I love that we can just rant and rave about what's going on with us but more than anything (and I think you'll agree) I would like us all to see results and to meet our short and long term goals. My hopes with this minimum workout would be that we'll all start to at least do the minimum and inevitably, we'll want to work harder and harder and hopefully we'll all start doing much more than a minimum workout etc.

This is just an example of what I'm talking about and I think as a collective, we should all figure out what works best for everyone and then decide on what our minimum workout is:

30 crunches

30 push-ups

20-30 minutes of cardio

Something like that. Something that we can all manage and something that's just going to get us all going. Like I said this would be a minimum workout for the day, so you can do 10 crunches in the morning and 20 later or whatever, break it up however suits you best, etc. And of course if you can and want to do more, do it.

K, well this was a long thought and a long post so I apologize for that but I'd love to hear what you all think.

Flutterby,

I think it's so cool that you're going to workout with your little bro. I have a 12 year old bro and he's about 5'5" and 180!!!!

My whole family is concerned for his health. I don't live with him anymore but I'd love to help him lose weight somehow. He has terrible eating habits and no self-control whatsoever. I'm really scared for him because he'll be starting high school next year and I don't want him to the the "fat kid", as mean as that sounds, I know how cruel high school and kids can be and I just want to deter that. Let me know how it goes with your bro overtime.

I LOVE the idea of a minimum workout.  I want to reach my goal so badly and I know I've been doing amazingly this week.  A challenge is exactly what I need to get moving.  I decided to do the 'Couch to 5k' program.  Right now, I determined that I was in the week 3 area.  I'm going to go from there.  Lately, mom has been wanting to go to the park and walk, so while she walks, I run.  I've been doing quite a lot of exercising this week and eating really well (hardly any bread or bad carbs).  If I don't see any weight loss on Friday, I'll be quite sad.

Pcarpintero, I know what you mean about the kids in school.  My brother's self conscious as it is, so my mom and I are trying to get him on good habits.  He's playing soccer this season, so I'm sure that'll help him out.  He went walking with us today and was practically exhausted by the end of it, but if we keep it up, I'm sure he'll lose the weight a little bit.  He gets frustrated easily...

On a happy note, I just made a ticker for my weight loss and I realized I was halfway to my goal! *starts singing Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer ("Oh, we're halfway there")* Laughing

Aw, pcarpintero, I always think you sound SOOO hardcore with your exercising ... but that minimum workout might be just about doable for me!  I'm in, starting tonight.

Do you all think that that "minimum" is good enough? I just kind of threw it out there. That's kind of my default workout if I don't get to something more. I think it's a great all around way to just stay active. Well, cool, I'm glad you guys are into it. So my goal from now on is to at least complete that minimum but preferably do more.

Happy Hump Day!!!

Everybody's could probably be a bit different.  You're definitely at a WAY higher fitness level than I am, so you might want something more intense.

Although last night I only made it to 20 mins of cardio and 15 crunches, intending to get up early this morning ... and then overslept.

I get my 30 minutes of cardio in with running every day, so maybe I'll up the minimum workout in that area to an hour for me.  Thirty crunches and pushups are just fine (and when I say fine, I mean working my way up to 30 pushups!).

I'm starting week 4 in the couch to 5k program, so I'm excited for that.  I decided I want to train for my first 5k.  That would be very awesome.

Had a binge day yesterday because I was down the shore, but I feel like it was worth it.  One day isn't going to hurt too much.

You know, it's strange.  I just realized this week how healthy I've become.  It's a nice feeling.

It IS a nice feeling, isn't it, flutterby!  Good for you!  I bet that even if they don't mention it, you're an inspiration to people around you.

I couldn't do the minimum yesterday (bad time of month and HORRIBLE backache and cramps), but I got through the cardio and crunches today.  The pushups aren't happening (I did a bit of yoga instead), but trying to do a few will be my goal for tomorrow.

I hear you on time of the month, veggiegeek.  I'm so bloated, it's going to kill my weigh-in tomorrow.  Ah well.  The results will hopefully show up next week instead.

Yeah it's nice when you lose 0 one week and then 3 the next! Like it kind of accumulates as a pleasant surprise ... if that makes sense.

Hi guys! I'm so glad we're all trying out this minimum workout thing and flutterby!!!! You sound like you're doing awesome! Your tone even sounds happier! I'm so glad you're do the couch to 5K! That's so great. I just weighed in and I was:

CW: 124 (That's down from last week!!!)

I've been running the stairs and they've been kicking my ass!! I love it!! I didn't log my food this week, just ate healthy and had small portions. With working out, i don't think i could have over eaten but I really need to start logging again next week. I don't usually log on the weekends.

I'll be running the stairs again this evening, gotta wait til it cools off a bit.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Awesome job, pcarpintero!  I definitely am more upbeat about everything.  Oh, and guess what?!

CW: 132.7! (down 1.3 pounds since last week even with bloating!)

WHOO HOO!! Laughing

Weekly weight in.. CW 112 SW 125 GW 105

Wow, girls you're all losing! Good for you!

I'm not weighing, but I did exercise up a storm this weekend which is nuts for me.  I'm counting that I woke up EARLY this morning and did a 45 minute workout.  Sweated buckets.

How is everybody??  Good long weekend?  Nice being able to hit the university gyms again?

The university gym has been closed all week. -_-  Well, the one on the campus I like anyway.  I'm going to try and get back in the swing of things tomorrow.  How have you been veggiegeek? Pcarp?  Anybody else out there?

Sorry, I've been off the site for a while. Had a bad flu for a few days which really knocked me out.  This weekend I was biking quite a bit  - I think it's going to be my new hobby!
