125 is PERFECCT for your age & height! If you are interested in working out- I would focus on toning up and getting in physical shape... NOT WEIGHT LOSS. Keep your calories aroudn 1500-1600 (because you are most likely still growin and depriving yourself of vital nutrients could stun your growth) stay active, make healthy choices and ENJOY YOUR YOUTH!!! you'll have the rest of your life to try and "lose weight"... Don't worry about it now- just make healthy choices!

: D  Have a fun summer!

Shmoopy!
I'll try not to focus on the numbers as much- but I want to get rid of some flab! I'm a really healthy eater- lots and lots of fruit and veggies and I dont eat meat- but I think its just exercising that's the problem! I need to just get out there and do it! :D

Thanks a lot!

Hey!!!

Well I think i may be your perfect twin, I am 16 years old, 5'8, and 115 pounds, and I want to lose around 10 as well! Let me Know!!
hey! i'm close too. i'm a little older ((17)) but also 5'8" and at 123. i'm not sure about losing 10 more pounds but a couple more won't hurt.

what are you doing to try and lose weight? what did you start at, or are you just starting at this weight?
i'm just starting now- i'm eating really healthy foods (no sugary stuff) and about 1200 calories a day! i'm gonna try to do 30 minutes of pilates every day, along with some basketball for cardio on top of the 4 hours a week i have! hopefully it will work!!!

what are you doing?
p-aige- wow! you're my goal weight!!! what do you do to maintain it?

you really want to be 105 or so pounds? it might be a little low for you (no offense!) you seem perfect right now!!!!

do you have any tips for me to get down to 115? :D

<3
Just want you all (lighterrose and summergirl and p-aige) to know...

It will be incredibly difficult to drop 10 lbs at your weight and height, ladies. Your body will fight you every step of the way, because you are trying to become underweight (p-aige is already underweight, summergirl is borderline and lighterrose is not far away). Bodies don't like being underweight, it feels like starvation and death to them. They will be doubly confused, because you are supposed to be gaining weight as your bodies finish growing and maturing. You will get hungry, and tired, and lose your energy. Plus, unnecessarily restricting calories when you are a slender teen leads to all sorts of problems - from delayed or abnormal physical maturation, down to osteoporosis. If you don't believe me, talk to your doctor.

Shmoopy is right. If you don't like the shape of your body, exercise is the key to changing that - and to work out properly you need to eat enough, meaning maintenance level. However, remember that just because a slender young woman doesn't like her body, that doesn't mean there is actually anything wrong with that body - there is more likely something wrong with her mind. Acceptance and self-love might help you even more - and will be easier to achieve than an unhealthy, unnatural boniness.
And it is worth pointing out a trend that I am noticing here - the people who are looking to be unhealthily thin will often pay lip service to healthy advice but will revert instantly to their unhealthy talk at the first hint of support for their self-destructive goals. I worry that CC is becoming a support group in which proto-anorexics are finding each other so they can feed each other's obsessions.
This site is very known in the pro ana sites, some even call it their "bible".

That's how I found this site... don't worry at 230lb I am no anorexic lol, I just heard about those sites and had to go see what they said to each other on them. Twas quite interesting
trustwomen- i do see your point, i really do- but i have soo much body fat- and the only way to tone up (basically) is to lose that and then gain muscle- you can't gain muscle really when you have that much body fat! and i dont starve myself- i just dont eat that much- if i'm hungry i eat (i assure you- i eat :D)

i used to struggle with an eating disorder and i've recently entered a new state of mind- i want to be healthy and toned! losing 5 to 10 pounds of FAT and then gaining muscle is my goal.
One reason your body fat may be high, is because you have no muscle to offset it.  And you don't need to lose numbers on the scale, and then muscle up.  Toning now, while eating maintenence, or more calories, will serve as definition to your body, and burn any excess fat, if you de indeed have too much fat.  If you know your body fat percentage, nd are going on that that you have too much fat, it could be high due to not having any muscle to offset it, so gaining muscle in and of itself offset the fat percentage, without having to lose bodyfat.  Low bodyfat as a teen can result in loss of periods, or never getting them in the first place, and even result in being barren as an adult, so it's much better to be cautious as a teen rather than worry about being as thin as possible!

Also, I'd like to note that me, also being 5'8", had a flat, defined stomach (I even had a visible 6 pack... I miss it!), and good muscle tone at 140-150 as a young teen (also had my hips/boobs), and I was actually more around 5'7" at that point.  Like I said, scale numbers don't matter in toning up, just body changes do, since muscle is denser than fat, it weighs more.

hey i would like to do this maybe get down to 119 pounds not 115 because thats too skinny for me im 5ft 7 and 125 pounds by the way
