Looking for a twin/partner! 5'8" 230

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guyses, i'm just starting on this site, and i'm mentally ready for this weight loss. I've spent the last two weeks getting ready for this and I know I can do it. I'm looking for someone who was once me, is now me, or is CLOSE to me. OR someone who can just help and/or motivate. I'm 20yrs of age, 234lbs exactly, down from 240 July 3rd. I'm 5'8" and a half. (lol, if that half even counts) My goal is to get to 180 first, and get a tad healthier. Anyone who's willing to hop on the journey with me can come along. I'll be on CC daily (I'll try to come daily!) and help is very appreciated. Any takers?

:) -kam.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Er, I'm not exactly close, but I'll join you!  I've been looking for someone to talk with daily; I find that by helping others, I actually end up helping myself more.  Practice what you preach, right?  Right now, I could use some help get my motivation back.

Way to go on the weight loss so far!  Sounds like you've definitely started out right.  I've had a lot of success with CC, since joining in January.  I'm 5'4", 21 yrs old, and currently 146, down from my highest of 200 last year.  If you take into account the height difference, that's similar, right?Laughing

-Liz

lol, definitely counts!

We can just keep each other motivated. GEEZ, that's nearly 60lbs! that's great! yeah motivation can help. everyone in my house just ordered chinese...and i'm having broccoli and grilled chicken. ha!

Oh that sounds good... I couldn't resist chinese food if it were available!  You're a stronger person than I. lol.  Now I've got to figure out what to have for dinner and resist the urge to order chinese.  Thanks alot! I guess I'll be good and go with a veggie burger and vegetables.  Broccoli sounds good.

Hey there, we could pass for twins!! Im 5'8.5 or 5'9 and currently weigh around 235. My only diff right now is Im 14 weeks pregnant so Im not trying to lose until Jan when baby is due. My goal is about 180 also. I have been down to 200 but never even seen 199!!! LOL. I have been on CC for over 2 years plus I have a blog which you can find under my profile. Good Luck and keep this thread going.

I'll be here cheering all you tall ladies on, waiting to jump on the wagon!!

yay guys. For a minute there i thought i was the only one!

BABY DUE! That's exciting. Yeah i've been to 200 as well, but i haven't seen 1anything since i was about 13. I was born a size 14.

lol But that's the past!

I was 235 in Jan, now I'm 185, I'm 5' 10" 32 and male. I know women and men are different when it comes to weight lost but if you need any questions answered on how I did it or if you need some help staying on the right path I'll be here to answer them for you.

I'm on the way to 170. BMI Healthy.

I know the feeling!  I still shop in the plus size section out of habit; I was a 16-18 most of my life.  It's only been a few months since I've been below a 14, so I'm not quite used to the new selection.  Now, though, I'm in that in-between stage where plus size doesn't fit me any more but the trendy, skinny stuff doesn't work either.  Undecided  I think it's even harder finding clothes now than it was before...

Hey Kam

I think we are pretty close.  I am almost 5'7", right now 226.5.  At my worst I was 256.  I have similar goals and would love to have a buddy and be a buddy on this long journey!

Good luck and keep in touch.

aw, that's a bummer. Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I would consider myself a dresser. I love clothes and what i can do with them! I dont want to be that small size 4-8. I'd love to be a 10-12 as long as i'm healthy.

ah, that's so great. Just wait a few days, i'll be blowing you up with questions! Right now, i'm feeling like i have everything in control. Besides the fact that my mom just offered me a few buffalo wings. :( Thank you for your willingness to help, i appreciate it SO much. Speaking of BMI healthy, i now have to convince myself that the BMI calculator is good. Seeing as how ive spent years preparing my mind to think that stinkin' calculator was out for me! I'd love to be bmi healthy, and i'm on my way right along with you.

Eh, BMI is overrated.  I was really concerned for awhile about getting down to "healthy," and this last weekend, when I finally got there, I realized I didn't feel any different than I had the week before, even though I had dropped the one pound that moved me from the "overweight" category to "healthy".  I think the BMI can be used as a guide, even a motivator, but finding where you're happy and comfortable is more important.  IMHO.

Oh, and be prepared to be disapointed with the clothing options in 10-12.  I'm at 10-12 right now, and I'm happy here, no desire to be tiny either (I don't think I could get there, even if I wanted to.  I'm built too curvy...).  However, I find TONS more stuff in size 8 than I do in the 10-12 range.  Yell

Way to go on the jogging!  I hadn't exercised all week and was getting pretty lazy, so I forced myself to bike to school today.  And, of course, it rained.  lol.

I'm somewhat close to you, I'm 6' tall, 235 lbs, male, and 17 yo.  I started a little over a month ago and I was at 250 lbs then.  My ultimate goal is to get down to 170 lbs but my short term goal is to get below 200 lbs before I leave for Cal Poly SLO on September 13th.  I was down to 230 a week ago but then we went on vacation so I'm guessing I'm 235 now.  I'm still on vacation but starting the diet again on Saturday.  The motto that has really helped me to lose weight is "Eat to live, don't live to eat".  That really helped me realize that I shouldn't eat to make indulge myself, I should eat to nurture my body.  Ideally I want to have a 6 pack by next summer so that I'll be able to go to Pismo Beach and not be the "fat guy".

Hey everyone, Im with ya, Im 5'7" and 234, I started at 310 in 2005 and have been doing various things to lose this weight and Im in Weight Watchers also, I was at 224 a couple of months ago, ( I fell off the wagon) but I went back to WW yesterday and started back with CC on this past Monday, but have been with CC since March 2009. Any knowledge I have I will gladly share and except any help out there to lose the rest, my goal would be maybe 160-170. Maybe with the support and help from everyone we can all reach our goals. Good luck.

Gerbology, a little over a month ago you were 250 and you got down to 230? LOL, that definitely gives me hope. Do you work out often? I'd like to hear your daily routine if you dont mind. Male or not, if you can do it so can i. I really like the motto as well. I just know it will take me a while before i can permenantly practice it. Hopefully we can help each other. I know you can lose the weight and give Pismo Beach a grand show!

Brwnize1967, you're just about me! I'd just like to get below 200 for now. It's been so long since i saw 1-- on the scale. Hopefully i can see that in about 3 months. Is weight watchers helpful for you? I don't know how that works and i'm thinking about checking it out.

So looks like our little group died... how's everyone doing???

I've been really proud of myself - eating right, and keeping the pounds coming off. In the last 2 weeks I've lost another 2 pounds!  Then my boyfriend broke up with me on Tuesday...  so it's been a week of pizza, ice cream, alcohol, and chocolate, and I've gained those 2 pounds back. *sigh*  But I'm over him, as of now, and tomorrow I'll pick right back up where I left off!

Hopefully y'all are doing better than I am!  lol

I've been doing good, I went up to 234 while on vacation (from 232) but since then my weight loss has sped up quite a bit, it's only been 7 days since I got home but I'm down to 228.4 lbs (5.6 lbs in 7 days) and I'm hoping it'll continue like this.  I'm making some peach sugar free jello for tomorrow since I found out it's super low calorie (I'm probably the last person to figure this out but w/e).  I couldn't believe you can have 4 cups of jello for only 80 calories!  How's everyone else been doing.

kamqueenb - yeah, I was suprised but I lost 20 lbs in a little over a month, although probably a lot was water weight.  I started out eating a little unhealthily (I hadn't looked at the forums or anything so I didn't know) but I was eating like 1250 calories a day.  Since I discovered that that's unhealthy (it took a couple weeks) I've been eating around 1400-1450 a day.  I was working out by doing a 2 mile bike ride on my street every day (150 cals) and then doing our stair stepper for about 20 minutes (200 calories) and that was about it.  It only took about an hour, after I got back from vacation I changed it up a little, I've been biking 5 miles a day (about 350 cals) and not doing the stair stepper.  I decided to do that instead because when I go to Cal Poly this coming year I'm not bringing my car, only my bike so I've got to be able to ride somewhere without sweating like crazy by the time I get there.

I think you killed it when you stated that the BMI is overrated. lol I'm just playing with you.  I also think the BMI is overrated but I use it as motivation for myself and to set a goal for me to see on the scale.

Also on my wii fit I get a nice graph to see my progress and I just need see it get in the normal range. Check my profile pics to see my chart over the last 4 months.

As for where I'm at I'm still on the trail and have lost another 2 pounds since my posting so now I'm at 182.5 pounds.

Hey Guys! I would have to say that I think i'm doing okay.

I am 224 currently, with 5mile jog and a close watch on everything I eat. Most of the weight that i loss was probably water weight, i'm not very familiar with the weight loss process but i'm doing better than i thought i would. I stop eating everyday around 730-8pm. I drink all water, no juice or sodas (pop) and i try to stay busy. enigma, how dare your bf! well, you def. need to jump right back on track, and throw the pizza in his face. lol. ephiphany (the name of my fav. song at the moment lol), good job! keep up the good work.

You sound like my mirror image, except for the age.  I am 38 weighing 5' 8.5" and I weigh 232 lbs.  I have really struggled getting in the proper mindset for this weight loss journey, but I believe I am ready.  Count me in for the ride.
