Looking for a weight loss buddy around 34 years old with about 35 pounds to lose...

Hi,  I'm 34, 5'4" and 178 pounds.   When I started CC in the beginning of May 2008 I was 194.  I had gained 40 pounds in 4 months due to medicine.  I am done with the meds and I have lost 16 lbs so far.  My goal weight is 145...  Anyone want to help me stay motivated?

Well done on the 16lbs so far, that's a really great achievement.

I am 35 and 5'4" and currently 150lbs.  I'm working to get down to 133lbs.  I've been at it since May too and making slow progress (6lbs so far).  But at least it is progress.

Good luck with it

hi tech  ( :

is 31 close enough?

Our stats are close too.

MY dream goal weight would be 145....  I am shooting for 150 and see how I feel......

feel free to friend me!   what are you doing in pursuit of your weight loss goals?

--Olivia    : D

Hey Olivia.. 31 works!    I was 150 back in December and I gained 44 pounds from Meds..   so now I am off it the 16 pounds came off fast..  the next 33 seem a bit harder to shed.  I am working from home these days so I can work out any time.  I have been doing 30 minutes (light jogging) on the treadmill 3-4 times a week and then a 4 mile walk or bike ride a couple times a week.   I am making sure I eat 1200-1400 calories a day so I can have a 800 to a 1000 calorie deficit at the end of the day.  It helps me burn a pound or two a week...

what are you doing?

Oh and Thanks compoundkid!

Hi Techgrl!

I am 35, 5'4.5" and currently weigh about 151 lbs.  I have been working out consistently for about 3 weeks so far and need to keep up the motivation!  I also cut alcohol out of my diet to help me with the weight loss - I know that's what's keeping the weight from coming off!

Almost dead-on stat wise. I started at 184-ish in April and am currently around 166-ish. I gained my weight from an injury, but I still feel your pain.

I'm stuck right now bigtime, not losing, even gaining a little (note to self: increasing calories is NOT working for you, sadly. Back to 1400 you go!)---but still plugging away. Which is part of the problem, I'm working my arse off and not feeling so hot about the results. Sometimes I see the more lean, much more toned me...sometimes I just notice my damn thighs still pretty much touch ;).

I LOVE your goal weight. It's the same as mine. Any more and I'd look like I was sickly---it's just not how I'm built.

There's a forum here for those of us in the 30s with some AMAZING ladies on it...most with hubbys and families though, unlike me! Stop in!

Hi Music... which forum is it?  Can you post a link?
Thanks!

Hey there - I'm in a similar boat. I'll be 34 next month and started CC this week. I started out at 152, and I was down to 149.5 this morning. I'm 5' 3.5" My goal is 130. I'm a full-time grad student and my schedule is insane, so I'm prone to going for long periods of time without eating anything, then I can't eat enough to get full. Or when I'm studying, I unconsciously snack all the time.

I've been trying the small, frequent meals and it seems to be working thus far. I've also started the coolrunning.com couch to 5K program. I've never been a total couch potato, but it seems like everytime I start running, I over do it and wind up with serious knee pain.

It's great to have a place to stay motivated!

I think as I get older the more frequent, small meals works out well /small meals and lots of snacks.  ( :

I too am a runner.   Love the C25K Motivational thread.

It is good to see I am not the only 30 something out there who is still trying to figure this whole thing out!!!!!

PS:  I have a bf and cats/dog, but no kids to speak of except my kids at school.   ( :

Pretty much all my friends are thing and taller then I am.  They eat whatever and some even take weight gainer to keep from being too thin!  So today we all went to the cheesecake factory.   That kills my small meals through out the day plan!  I usually try to order something and take it home.  My bf eats so much and never even looks bloated!

Hello i am 34 and I weigh 233lbs and need to loose like 60 lbs.  ( looking to do it the healthy moderate way)  But I read your post and just wanrted to say good luck and dont be so hard on yourself.  Hope to read some of your future successes.

I'm turning 40 this summer - am I too old for your group? I am 160 and want to be 135 by christmas. let me know if that is compatible with your goals and good luck!

I am not hacking the calories b/c I am breastfeeding. I am trying to eat a lot of protein and keep the activities bumped up. I think my metabolism is slow! I want to rev it up.

hi I'm 34 and 5'4 and have about 20pounds to lose... i'm at 144 now and really to be healthy get to 124 ... that would be nice... i've been jumping rope I was focused on it hard and saw a nice drop but the second i stopped bcuz of hectic work sked... i saw a bit a of a gain :( not happy w/that... plus i do drink wine, i know it is something that slows my weight loss but seriously i can't help it! i love the wine and it helps me to decompress from a long day and the stress ... i'm a single mom so between the cortisal levels and all that i'm sure there is a balance there somewhere ... can i join? what is everyone doing to lose the weight??

sora,

I drink wine too, and for similar reasons. The only thing is I try to limit it to weekends only, because I know it has probably contributed to my weight gain since starting grad school.

Anyway, I think I just had some sort of epiphany or something. I already know how to eat healthy - as a matter of fact my nutrition grade has been consistently an "A" or "A-" since starting CC. I saw pictures of myself from 4th of July weekend and I was just disgusted. I decided right there and then I was going to quit all my stress eating and get serious about eating healthy consistently. The CC has been wonderful for me, because it has given me immediate feedback about where I'm at during the course of a day, and it has also liberated me from all the preconceived ideas about bad or off-limit food that is actually good for you. For example, I used to think that watermelon and corn-on-the-cob were evil, carb-laden foods that I should avoid. In reality, a cup of watermelon only has 46 calories and an ear of corn only 50-something. I also have changed the black-or-white thinking associated with "falling off the wagon." For instance, the first day I found CC, I had already eaten a chicken biscuit, but because was able to see it wasn't complete diet suicide, I was able to eat sensibly the rest of the day and not punish myself for eating something bad and wrecking everything.

wicked --  you summed up a lot of why cc works for me too.   I like the black and white "it does the math for me."  ( :    it is good to have those moments where your thinking changes.   put that picture up somewhere maybe???   I put a before up and a goal pic up on the fridge (from last time I got to 150)

someone asked what we are doing to meet our goals....  I love working out.   If you had told me ago I would EVER say that, I would have laughed in your face.  I run every day with my dog.  I just started using the stationary bike I have had for 12 years -- and have put like 60 miles on it is 5 days.  My bf just got himself an expensive ass Bowflex because he could not get motivated except my spending money????   so I have been using that too.    OH --and I drink TONS of water and try to watch my alcohol consumption.  ( ;

Ok I was out of it for a while there but I am back and I am trying to lose my last 27 lbs.   How is everyone doing?
