Looking for a Weight loss Friend!!!
Hi!
I'm 19 years old, 5 ft 6 in, & 156 pounds. I'm a college student and I think my first goal wait is 130 pounds. Does anyone want to be my weight loss friend so we can talk and help eachother to reach our goals?
Hope to hear from someone,
Amy
Congratulations getthin99! Glad you feel the same about this forum :) And I'm so happy to hear how much weight you've lost! And only in one week :D Yay!
Mandypants, don't be too discouraged.. As long as you're exercising and eating right, you'll see results.. And besides, 0.5inches off your bust! We're here for you, if you need to talk or anything, yeah? *hugs*
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I am a day late at weigh in, I was so busy yesterday I did not get a chance to log on. I am so happy for everyone on here and I also agree it helps to have someone to account to by the weeks end. As you all know this was my first week for P90X, I am happy to report I am down 3 lbs this week, I now weigh in at 153. I lost two inches off waist (however one in that I gained last week I am pretty sure was due to MTOTM.) So I would say I am really down one inch on my waist. My waist is now 37 in, bust still 39 in. I am pretty happy for the progress I made, it was a tough week. My body still aches from the exercise and today is my free day to eat regular. I started my morning off with honey nut cheerios and a banana, can you see I am really taking advantager? It is funny, I am still scared to eat a lot of junk. I don't want to hurt my progress, this is the thinest I have been in a very long time, years to be exact. I can't wait to hit the 140's. Thank you all for keeping me focused. I hope you guys have a great week.
Allie
Ok ya'all it is weigh in time again. My measurements are:
Waist = 37
Bust = 38
Weight = 148
I can't believe that I dropped that much this week. I somehow dropped two pounds over night. I even had a bad day yesterday. I am actually wondering if my scale is accurate, but I weighed myself twice with same weight. I am so happy to be in the 140's. Total weight loss to date is 32 pounds. I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks on P90X workout plan and diet. I am amazed with the results. I can feel a difference in my sides etc. I am struggling with craving sweets though, I had a bad day yesterday with that. Today I am going to work out twice for a total of 2 hr 15 min, that should more than make up for yesterdays chocolate peanut butter mishaps. I am motivated more than ever, I need to be thin again. Now I can't wait to hit 130. It just may be 2 weeks away. Oh I hope my weight loss continues the way it has been. It is so much easier to stick with such a strict diet and workout plan when the pounds come off this way. Good luck everyone and Happy Easter
This week hasn't been a very good one for me. Instead of going down or maintaining, I actually gained! Up 2 pounds so I'm hovering at 135pounds now. *sigh* I really let myself go a little this week. So much for discipline. I'm a bit worried about having to juggle gym and studies, cos my finals are in about 2 weeks.
Allibee, 8 pounds in 2 weeks is wonderful! I wish I had your determination to go on the P90X workout.. I guess struggling with cravings is a normal thing, but at least you'll work out twice to make up for your bad day! I agree, when the pounds come off it's easier. At least you know it's working, and that it's not all futile haha.
Anyway, I hope the rest are doing okay. I gotta get back into the right frame of mind, darn it... That or at least watch what I eat :( Another week, then eh! Never too late to make a change...
ya hey i am a highschool junior im 5"9' and 140 lbs and i really want to get to 130 JUST LIKE YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Kaitlin, welcome! That's great, we're all on a journey too :) Weigh ins are Fridays, and you can talk about anything and everything here.. !
So, this week i stayed the same. I'm dissappointed that I didnt lose any weight for the week, but hopefully I'll be able to do better next week!
Allie, Congrats on the weight loss. Thats amazing! & Welcome to the group Kaitlin!
Good Luck this week everyone!
Hey guys.
My boyfriend of 4 years and I broke up this week, so I'm choosing not to measure myself. I can't really handle any more disappointment. I'll measure in next Friday as usual.
P.S. congrats on all your weightloss everyone :) especially allie!
Aww hun, I am so sorry to hear about your loss, it is ok with me if you count his weight in lbs as your loss for the week. Keep your chin up and keep focused, now would be a very easy time to let things go, but you have to remember your goal and stay focused. We are all here if you ever need to vent or chat. Praying for you dear!
Allie
Girls (getthin99 and da1gal) don't be discouraged. Water retention, TOTM or sickness can all cause lb fluctuation. I am sure you will go down after a slight increase in calories over Easter holiday. Everytime I increase my calories slightly after working hard all week is when the lbs usually fall off. I hope you all had a good Easter
Welcome to the group Kaitlin.
Hi everyone on this thread, my name's Sam. I just happened to come accross you guys and you all seem so supportive of each other and support and motivation is exactly what i need.
I'm 19 yr old girl, I weigh 149lbs, and am just so unhappy with myself. I fluctuate so much, losing and gaining 5 lbs from week to week. But now i am so ready to actually lose the weight permanantly and more of it, hopefully get down to 125lbs, and around a UK size 10/8. I want to be confidant and I want to be happy with myself.
I just bought a new scales, so im taking this seriously!
I'm a student studying art, and working part time at a bar, living with two of my friends who are both unfairly naturally slim whilst surviving on junk food alone! I try to eat so healthily and often do really well for a few days but then slip and find it so hard to get back on track. I would love to be able to join this forum and get some support and someone to talk to when im about to head towards the ice cream!
x
Welcome to the group Sam! I completely understand how difficult it is to be around friends who just eat junk food, and it can get so hard to resist. But wheneever I feel the urge to eat something unhealthy I try to remind myself of why I want to lose weight. Sometimes this works, while other times I just give in. Well, we have weekly weigh ins on fridays to see our progress, and you are welcome to discuss anything at anytime in this group. Good Luck!

I agree with Sam. I found this forum too and saw everyone was so supportive of each other, I figured it would help me get the motivation to lose weight. I am currently 18 (19 in 2 weeks) and around 200 lbs (haven't gotten on the scale though and don't have one in my dorm).
I seriously hate the way I look. I'm an intelligent person, but I feel that goes down the drain when people see how big I am. :(
So, I would love to join this forum for support and someone to talk to when I feel I need to eat more food. :)
Welcome Missy and Sam! Glad to have you in the group. I understand completely about how hard it is to be around people that eat junk all day long and are skinny and never have a problem with weight. But you know what a fellow calorie count friend told me. No reason to be jealous, we were there once and are still paying for the mistakes. It is not healthy to eat like that, even if you are skinny, your body will not feel like it should and it is still damaging to the body. I prefer to feed my body good foods that help it flourish and I know I feel better when I do eat good wholesome vegetables and lean meat without many carbs and fat. No stomach pains, no irregulation. I feel great and my motor is running like it should without those low grade gas. (bad junk food.). Missy I can really relate to you. When I started my weightloss journey I was 180. I am now 147. My goal is to be 114. I am short, height of just 5 '0. So my healthy bmi is 114. If you want results exercise is absolutely crucial. I started by just watching calories, then slowly introduced exercise, 1-2 x a week. Now I on a strict high protein diet and I work out 6 x a week for a total of about 7 1/2 hours a week. I am doing an intense workout plan now, but I worked my way up to that point. I would suggest to start walking and doing small workouts, 30 squats, 15 jumping jacks a night and slowing add in as much cardio as you can as soon as you get up in the morning. Keep in mind it takes a reduction/calories burnt of 3500 calories to lose one pound. See you all at weigh in on Friday.
Thanks! I've been feeling really good with my calorie count the last couple of days (even on school food)! I've been able to not eat more than the 1550 calorie limit caloriecount has given me! And my stomach starts to hurt, I think of myself thinner and start drinking my 0 calorie tea. :D I've even been planning what I eat for the day so I don't go over!
And for exercise, I have to walk between campuses twice a week, so today I walked back and forth 2 times (about half a mile each way, so a full 2 miles today). I'm thinking about slowly integrating different things into my routine though. I heard we have a gym on campus, so I want to stop by there sometime for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions too.
-Rissy
Thanks allibee for all your suggestions! I was wondering what kind of thing are you doing in your work-outs? Right now im trying to go to the gym more and do sit-ups and squats etc at home but I haven't seen any result in a long time so I'm worried im not doing the right kind of excercise or Im just not doing hard enough excercise?

Hi Missy, Hi sam! Yes, it's great to have you join our little group. I have friends who also eat junk all day and still are thin, but I know that they're not nourishing their bodies properly, and in the long run we'll be healthier... I've switched to eating a lot of good proper nutritious food and my skin has cleared up and I feel energetic all day!
Missy, I started at 160 pounds and I was pretty big.. Looking at old photos make me gasp, but I used to have really low self esteem, and not speak up or talk because I felt a bit embarassed by the way I look. But don't fret, if you set your mind to it you can get there... You say that your stomach hurts, is it because you have hunger pangs? I would suggest you listen to your body, and if you feel hunger pangs and they hurt, eat a little. Maybe a small fruit or some high fibre cereals, but don't ignore it. Just choose healthy foods. Whenever I have hunger pangs, I will eat a fruit or some vegetables, or even a cup of milk. But then I also try and eat something every three hours, so my blood sugar won't go too low.. But Good to hear about you wanting to join the gym!
Samantha, if you don't mind I'd like to share what I do at the gym :) I usually start with a brisk walk on the treadmill for 2 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of pretty fast jogging.. I consider that my warm-up. I then move to weights (I use the machines) and work on my thighs, shoulders, back, arms and finally some ab crunches. I then hit the treadmill again for another 30 minutes, but brisk walking.. It has worked for me and I usually end up sweating a lot. That routine usually takes me 1hr 30mins to 1hr 45mins.. I also watch what I eat and I can usually expect a 1-2 pound loss every week.. But probably won't be going too much to the gym for the next 2,3 weeks cos of finals.
If you aren't seeing any results it's time to increase either your duration, or the intensity. Constantly push yourself, but do it gradually.. Oh and if you do squats and sit ups, you do need to do a few sets. I usually try and go 25reps, 3 squats. You can maybe use weights during your squats too, to make it a bit harder..
Sam,
I started out very small. Just doing about 30 squats, 15-20 jumping jacks, 30 crunches etc. I slowly worked my way up. After doing that a few days, I then decided to join an indoor soccer league (something I could do fun without having to think about how much I am working out). After that I bought a used treadmill from craigslist and started to do walking on the treadmill, when I first started on the treadmill I could barely do 15 minutes. Right before I changed workout plans from the treadmill to P90X I was able to 40 minutes on the treadmill. I usually always did the treadmill in the morning before I ate so I could burn fat and not food that I just ate.
Now I am doing the P90X plan. It is a DVD series in which you use a yoga mat, dumbells, resistance bands or pull up bar. The plan has been a huge success for me so far, I am in week 3 and have lost 9 lbs and 2 inches. I can tell a huge difference in my sides and belly since beginning the program. The reason it is so successful is because it is all about muscle confusion so you don't plateau as easily.
Monday = Chest and Back work outs (pull ups, dumbells, and pushups) for 1 hr followed by 15 minutes of intense ab rippers
Tuesday = ploymetrics (jump training, lots of jumping and lunges)
Wednesday = Arms and Shoulders (dumbells) for 1 hr followed by 15 min ab ripper
Thursday = Yoga for 1 hr 1/2
Friday = Legs for one hour followed by 15 min ab ripper
Saturday = Kenpo (kickboxing/karate moves) for 1 hr
Sunday = Rest Day
Now with this plan you also have a very strict diet while doing this plan. There are three phases, I follow this patter for three weeks, then I have a recovery week (which is different workouts). Then I go into Phase 2 in which I will be able to add in a few more carbs. But the workouts will be more intense too.
Right now I am pretty much eating the same thing every day, with the exception of one day a week in which I can eat normal pretty much mostly what I want within reason.
Breakfast = 4 egg whites fried with 0 calorie non stick cooking spray, 3 slices fat free oscar meyar thin slice lunch meat ham. 1/2 cup 1 % milk.
Snack = Fruit protein smoothie with skim milk no sugar
Lunch = 3 oz perdue fajihita chicken strips boneless skinless, 1/2 cup brown rice, 100 calories of good vegetables.
Snack = 1 celery stalk with 1 tbsp peanut butter
Dinner = 6 oz lean beef, 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta or 1/2 cup brown rice, or 1/2 small potato (no butter). 1 tbsp olive oil to fry my beef or sometimes I have a salad with the beef on it in which I substitude the olive oil for low fat/cal salad dressing such as italian or something similar. 100 calories good vegetable.
Snack
1 yogurt or 1 string cheese.
I have had huge results with the plan but it is tough and I am very tired after every work out. My muscles are almost always sore too. It is hard work but so worth it all.
Thanks for the advice da1gal. I think it was just my body getting used to the dieting and at the time I couldn't get anything low calorie. The past couple of days I've been doing really well staying under the calorie limit I have and I even worked out in my room (push ups, crunches, stretching). My feet hurt today, but it felt great! My pants are feeling looser too.
Today is Friday! I wasn't expecting much of a weight loss this week, and when I got on the scales today it was around 132-133 pounds. (60.5kg) which is down 0.5kg for me..
I'm not too discouraged though, because I have not been able to go to the gym very often but I am eating sensibly, so the weight loss should be a wee bit slower.. I did have a cheat meal though, where I drank some beer and had lovely lovely roast pork mmm. But I made sure I didn't drink too much beer, and I think I didn't really do much damage overall.
Also next week I don't plan to go to the gym, but I might just have a jog around the neighbourhood.. Need to prioritise and focus on exams for now... but I feel quite lethargic now without exercise..
I was reading "Burn the fat, feed the muscle" yesterday and it said that the average heart rate is 72, and that "Low resting heart rates are usually an indicator of excellent cardiovascular fitness." So I measured my resting heart rate and it was 57! I just felt really chuffed about it, because I have been working on trying to increase my stamina on the treadmills, and now I feel even more motivated :D
I can't wait to break the 60kg (132) mark, and finally be in the 50s for once in my life haha.. Slow n steady does it! :D
