Looking for Yummy Meal Replacement Shake

Quote  |  Reply

Hello, my mornings are rushed and hectic so instead of grabbing something unhealthy or skipping breakfast altogether I've turned to slim fast shakes with almond milk but I dont like all the chemicals in slim fast and was hopeing for find something that only has natural/organic/vegan ingredients.

I bought one last week,   a sample pouch for just under $3.  It was created by a famous athelete here in Canada but the flavour was yukky.  Though it was chocolate flavour it tasted more like celery seeds and peppers. Yuk!

I'm hopeing to find something as yummy as french vanilla slim fast but that's actually natural and  healthy.

Peace,

Jen Innocent

Anyone?
The nutritionist at my work recommends Spirutein powder with soy/rice/almiond milk...a lot of the people I work with throw it in the blender with frozen berries first thing in the morning and love it.
I just make my own morning smoothies. Yogurt, juice, fruit, and a small handful of dried oatmeal. You can really varry them up, too, depending on what flavor of yogurt, what type of fruit, what type of juice. There are so many combinations! When I was rushing off to school in the morning I'd put it in an old water bottle and drink it during class.

If I remember correctly, doesn't Slim Fast have powdered milk in it? You might want to check that.

Their website says they are not suitable for vegans.

You could try making your own shakes with rice, soy, or hemp proteins, plus fresh fruits and soy milk or almond milk.

May I offer a suggestion?

Instead of an actual prepackage shake why don't you get.. some almond milk, some sort of protein powder and/or other flavoring your choose.. and one of those cups with a built in stirrer that you can get at places like GNC?

Pour in the milk, toss in the powder and go?

Spirutein shakes are delicious!  I use fortified soy or almond milk to mix in with it.  And i sometimes add frozen strawberries or bananas in for an extra kick.  Also, you can add psyllium husk poweder for extra fiber so that the shake will keep you full until your next meal.

I love keto slim protein powder.  Only chocolate, cappuccino & strawberry are really gross.  I mix it with soy milk.  And sometimes when I’m allowing myself a little treat I put in a banana & peanut butter….OMG its heaven!! I usually buy it at my local health food store but I found a website with the Calorie/Protein information http://vitanetonline.com/description/NP47442/ vitamins/KETOSLIM-CHOCOLATE-SHAKE-1-5LB/

Buy some almond extract; vanilla extract, powdered soy or milk.  Put in 12 ounces of water; the powdered milk or soy - 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, and a 'splash' (about 1/8 teaspoon) of almond extract.  Add one to 3 teaspoons of honey.  It tastes like vanilla with the almond taste in the background, and it's much less costly than almond milk.

One banana in it won't change the flavor; gives you potassium - 110 calories in the banana.  I love it!  Diane

Hey everyone, thanks so much!  Awesome suggestions, I'll use em!

good day eh!Kiss

OMG k...i have to put this because it's SOO good!!!!! it has nooo sugar added..sweetened with stevia....and has tons of nutients...etc sooo good.... Its from the Fibre 35 Diet.....and i tried the strawberry flavour ...really good with milk..very addicting..its like dessert but guiltfree!!! http://www.fiber-35-diet.com/
Usana puts out a really good low glycemic meal replacement shake in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry.   It has saved me more than once when I have come home form work tired and hungry and needing something now.

But is Spirutein vegan? I'm asking because I used to get it and then when I decided to avoid animal products I checked the ingredients in it and it included bee pollen (which I am assuming it is just what the name says and not some made up name for some weird ingredient), which would make it non vegan right?

If you want an awesome vinilla flavored smoothy try putting one banana 2-3 Tbls of seseame seeds, vinilla extract ( try to find one with out alcohol) and 1 cup of water. It is called vinilla bliss. 2 tbls gives you 6 grams of protein but remember your body can only digest 2-4 grams at a time the rest gets stored as fat.
