I loooooove to eat, and there's not much else to look forward to

Reading and eating, in reverse order -- those are my passions. Is it possible that some of us have hyper-taste buds? Many people I know can take or leave food; or, at least, they seem to have no unreasonable cravings. Once I finish eating, and am quite full, I can still (literally) start my mouth watering by thinking about the next craving. Makes bulemia sound attractive, just to clear the intake channel for the next thrill.

WHAT'S wrong with me?! I hate the way I look, but I am so darn weak. I love parmesan cheese as though it's my lover.

I feel like a double-loser for whining. I guess I just wanted some company, but no one's interested. Not surprised.
I guess the question is: What do you intend to DO about it?
Sorry you feel that no one is interested. We're interested in helping you with a life-changing program here at CC...it sounds like you aren't ready to take that step.

It would be helpful if you created a profile so we know more about you.
I thought I did. I'm sorry, confused and new, and looking for inspiration.
What sort of inspiration are you looking for?
just click on the "profile" link on the menu bar on this site and it'll walk you through everything to create a profile.

Hey, we've all been new and confused here...some of us are still confused! =)

I think the forum got busy hun, it's not you.

It's really hard when you want to lose weight. Food can be addictive, especially some foods which are high in fat, salty and taste so nice, and when you think of veggies and fruit, they sound boring.

Thing I found once I started eating a proper diet to begin with, was my taste buds reverted back to normal and I went from not being able to taste foods like fruit and veggies to thinking how great they did taste.

If you eat a lot of high fat salty foods, it really does change your taste buds and make your body crave more.

If you really want to do something, then you have to get in a mindset and really want it. Once you have that bee in your bonnet it's the first hurdle. Changing what you eat is the easy bit!

Just wanted to say hi anyway!
Nothing is necessarily wrong with you.  You're human just like the rest of us.  We all have our passions and we all have foods that we love even though they may not be so good for us.

The hardest part of changing eating habits is always the beginning.  If you can force yourself, no matter what, to start making changes, it gets easier.  Start out small and set lots of small goals.  The more you keep at it, the more you succeed, and then the more you'll want to keep succeeding.  Plus, you'll feel better and look better...all positive motivators.
if you need more help, check the visual walk through or the FAQ on the main account page.

and as far as the binging and just eating to capacity and more-- my thought is im a bullemic that never learned how to purge.  there are quite a few people here who identify as compulsive overeaters or with having binge eating disorder.

as for me, i just delight in the taste of food.  i love things that hit all my taste buds and have intense cravings.  part of learning to live differently is learning how to satisfy those cravings in an appropriate way.  still working on that! (she says with the kfc coleslaw container empty beside her)

good luck and welcome to the community!!! its a wonderful place!
I suppose, to know that I'm not alone, and to remind myself that there are many things more important than food. Well, I do know there are many more important things...and I need to remember that. Shame on me! I'm 54, menopausal, and surrounded by pretty young things at work who look right through me as though I'm not worthy. Situational depression, I guess. I probably regarded older women in the same way when I was young.
Don't know whether this will help you, but it helped me.....

Where is the parmesan cheese going? Nowhere. It'll still be there tomorrow if you want some, you don't need to have some today. It can wait! It's not going anywhere! If you still want some tomorrow, you can have it because it's not going away!

I LOVE the chocolate chocolate chip muffins and chocolate chip cookies the cafeteria sells. LOVE them. But I told myself I didn't need to have one today just because they are there today, because they will still be there tomorrow! Actually reminding myself of this (under my breath as I walked passed the muffins or cookies) actually helped.

I still eat these foods, and have throughout my 50-pound weight loss, but I no longer eat them every single day, and you know what? That's really okay! They'll still be there tomorrow if I want them!
Thanks, everyone, for the encouraging words. I created a profile, and will come back to this forum for inspiration. Nice to know I'm not alone in a skinny world.
I love food and tastes as well, but since going on a diet I've noticed 2 important things:

-Eating is now so much more enjoyable. Cheese is my weakness, and I eat a piece every day. I used to eat heaps of the stuff, would usually have some on a biscuit every day as soon as I got home ever day for an easy snack, and never even think about it. Now I really *taste* it when I eat it. Even the stuff I'm not usually a big fan of tastes better when I know the food-train isn't coming by as often, and when I feel like I've had to earn it. I'm a big Maccas fan, and I remember always going there and getting chips and a burger, and I'd always just shove the chips down my throat without enjoying them, so they wouldn't go cold. I'd feel like I was craving them, yet I'd barely bother to taste them. Would I do that these days? HELL NO.

-When I eat those occasional treats, they NEVER tase as good as I thought they would. I ate a piece of brownie today, it was good, but not THAT good. Not worth feeling like a fattie over. And instead of eating that one little brownie worth 200 calories, I could have eaten lots of other healthier choices-wouldn't that have been more satisfying?
Food can be an addiction and you have to break it,  I don't crave cheese or junkfood much at all anymore since I'm not eating nearly as much as I used to.

The first few weeks are the hardest after that it gets better, then it gets worse again... then better... hehe.
In all reality parmesean cheese isn't that high in calories in moderation. I put it on my salad with a little water instead of dressing. Pop in some baked chicken breast slices and it's pretty darn good ;). Goodluck to you.

hey, fatandtired, thanks for creating your profile.  I totally agree that this feels like a skinny world...but remember, more people are like us or have been there.  It's hard but we're all here for each other.

I like what athena said...I need to work on that with some things.
I love to eat!  I love food and I love cooking.  I do understand what you're saying.

There's a bit of inspiration hidden on the calorie count Home page.  Look for the finger pointing down to the button.  Click on the button.  Take what you find to heart.  It's up to each one of us to decide if we are going to be healthy and fit.

Welcome, and good luck!
Hi I am also pretty new to this site.  I also love to eat, taste, think about, and smell food.  This site has given me a new way to do this and its through cooking my own food(in a healthy fashion), planning ahead to what I'am going to eat next, learning that there are yummy tasty healthy foods out there, and documenting and seeing my progress day to day. I love this site.  I signed up on 1/17/06 and have lost three pounds YEA....  stay positive and take it from a former skeptic the is a way, and there are foods that will make your taste buds dance and be happy. Oh yeah and they're healthy and good for you.  Good luck
"Nice to know I'm not alone in a skinny world." -- fatandtired

You are grossly misinformed on that one! It certainly is NOT a "skinny world." What are they saying now ... something like 60% of people are overweight or obsese? I'm not sure of the exact figures, but this is NOT a skinny world by a long shot.

Digestion starts in your head, this is a fact. When you THINK about food or see ads for food, you start your digestive juices flowing. You're going to have to try to train yourself to think of other things. You're going to have to come up with some new passions. There is plenty to do out there -- you just have to find it. Maybe you're just depressed -- sounds like it when you say "not much else to look forward to." Do you have any goals? That would help tremendously. You say you are weak, but I am 100%  CONFIDENT that you have the power in to be NOT be weak. How about walking as a new passion ... some form of exercise.
I recommend getting a journal to write your goals, feelings, exercise or anything you want.  I've been doing it since 1995. Sure- there are months where I have gone without writing but then when I remember it helps to look back and see my inspiring words from last time. Something really recently clicked in my head and this time I know that I will never go back to 300. It may be a slow road I'm on but I know I'll get there eventually.  Just take one day at a time.  And don't try to do too many things at once either. That is really overwhelming. But once you start to take the baby steps then soon you'll be wanting to do leaps and bounds!
