Loose skin?

Quote  |  Reply

So I've been loosing weight (yay!) but now i'm starting to notice some loose skin in my inner thighs and under my arms. Is there any lotion or cream to prevent/reduce this? I've been slathering on cocoa butter for stretch marks and hoping that because I'm 24 the ellacticity in my skin will do the job. Any tips?

I'm not sure any lotions or creams really help, but I'm sure the massaging the area helps with the circulation -- and that can't hurt.

Basically though I think for most young people it just takes time for the skin to adjust.  You can lose weight faster than the skin "snaps back", so just give it time.

For older people, or those who have a lost a hyooge amount of weight, it rarely goes back all the way, and can require surgery.

Try some toning exercises if you do not already do them

And if it never goes away - that is your Badge of Honor for working so hard at losing weiht!

Try dry body brushing. It helps with elasticity in your skin

You're so young that the skin most likely will retract.  What really helps is to do some weight training while losing weight.  Get a book, video to help you.

Body brushing is great - I also use a brush with salt or sugar scrub everyday in the shower.  It does wonders at keeping skin healthy .  Creams only give a temporary lift.

The biggest effect on skin is to not keep gaining/losing weight because skin eventually will not bounce back.
